Psalm ascribed to David Psalm ascribed to David

1 Judge me, Oh God, and plead my cause against an ungodly nation; Oh deliver me from the deceitful and unjust man.

1 Judge me, Oh God, and decide my cause from a nation not devout; rescue me from an unjust and deceitful man. 1 Judge me, Oh God, and decide my cause from a nation not devout; rescue me from an unjust and deceitful man.

2 For you are the God of my strength; why do you cast me off? Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?

2 ὅτι σὺ εἶ θεός κραταίωμά μου, ἵνα τί ἀπώσω με;
καὶ ἵνα τί σκυθρωπάζων πορεύομαι ἐν τῷ ἐκθλίβειν τὸν ἐχθρόν μου;
2 ὅτι σὺ εἶ Θεὸς κραταίωμά μου· ἱνατί ἀπώσω με;
καὶ ἱνατί σκυθρωπάζων πορεύομαι ἐν τῷ ἐκθλίβειν τὸν ἐχθρόν μου;
2 Because you, Oh God, are my strength; why did you push me away? And why do I go looking sullen as my enemy oppress? 2 Because you, Oh God, are my strength; why did you push me away? And why do I go looking sullen as my enemy oppress?

3 Oh send out your light and your truth; let them lead me; let them bring me to your holy hill, and to your tents.

3 Send out your light and your truth; these led me, and they brought me to your holy mountain and to your tents. 3 Send out your light and your truth; these led me, and they brought me to your holy mountain and to your tents.

4 Then will I go to the altar of God, to God my exceeding joy; yes, on the harp will I praise you, Oh God my God.

4 And I will enter to the altar of God, to God who makes glad my youth. I will acknowledge you with a cithara, Oh God, my God. 4 And I will enter to the altar of God, to God who makes glad my youth. I will acknowledge you with a cithara, Oh God, my God.

5 Why are you cast down, Oh my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.

5 Ἵνα τί περίλυπος εἶ ψυχή, καὶ ἵνα τί συνταράσσεις με;
5 ἱνατί περίλυπος εἶ, ψυχή μου;
καὶ ἱνατί συνταράσσεις με;
5 Why are you sorrowful, Oh soul, and why are you throwing me into confusion? Have confidence in God, because I shall acknowledge him; my God is the salvation of my face. 5 Why are you sorrowful, Oh my soul, and why are you throwing me into confusion? Have confidence in God, because I shall acknowledge him; he is the salvation of my face and my God.
