(LXX 41)

To the chief Musician, Maschil, for the sons of Korah.
| For the end, a Psalm for instruction, for the sons of Kore. | For the end, a Psalm for instruction, for the sons of Kore. |
1 As the deer pants after the water brooks, so pants my soul after you, Oh God.
| 1 Just as the deer longs for the springs of water, so my soul longs for you, Oh God. | 1 Just as the deer longs for the springs of water, so my soul longs for you, Oh God. |
2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God; when shall I come and appear before God?
| 2 My soul thirsted for the living God. When shall I come and appear to the face of God? | 2 My soul thirsted for the living God. When shall I come and appear to the face of God? |
3 My tears have been my food day and night, while they continually say to me, Where is your God?

4 When I remember these things, I pour out my soul in me; for I had gone with the multitude, I went with them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, with a multitude that kept holyday.
| 4 I remembered these things, and I poured out my soul on me, because I shall go about to a place of an amazing tent, as far as the house of God. With a sound of rejoicing and thanksgiving, a noise of one who is feasting. | 4 I remembered these things, and I poured out my soul on me, because I shall go about to a place of an amazing tent, as far as the house of God. 5 Why are you cast down, Oh my soul? And why are you disquieted in me? Hope in God; for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.

6 Oh my God, my soul is cast down within me; therefore will I remember you from the land of Jordan, and of the Hermonites, from the hill Mizar.

7 Deep calls to deep at the noise of your waterspouts; all your waves and your billows are gone over me.

8 Yet Yahweh will command his lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer to the God of my life.

9 I will say to God my rock, Why have you forgotten me? Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?
