1 By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yes, we wept, when we remembered Zion.

עַל נַהֲרֹות בָּבֶל שָׁם יָשַׁבְנוּ גַּם ־ בָּכִינוּ בְּזָכְרֵנוּ אֶת ־ צִיֹּון׃

2 We hanged our harps on the willows in the midst of it.

עַל ־ עֲרָבִים בְּתֹוכָהּ תָּלִינוּ כִּנֹּרֹותֵינוּ׃

2 ἐπὶ ταῖς ἰτέαις ἐν μέσῳ αὐτῆς ἐκρεμάσαμεν τὰ ὄργανα ἡμῶν·	2 ἐπὶ ταῖς ἰτέαις ἐν μέσῳ αὐτῆς ἐκρεμάσαμεν τὰ ὄργανα ἡμῶν·

3 For there they who carried us away captive required of us a song; and they who wasted us required of us mirth, saying, Sing us one of the songs of Zion.

כִּי שָׁם שְׁאֵלוּנוּ שֹׁובֵינוּ דִּבְרֵי ־ שִׁיר וְתֹולָלֵינוּ שִׂמְחָה שִׁירוּ לָנוּ מִשִּׁיר צִיֹּון׃

3 ὅτι ἐκεῖ ἐπηρώτησαν ἡμᾶς οἱ αἰχμαλωτεύσαντες ἡμᾶς λόγους ᾠδῶν καὶ οἱ ἀπαγαγόντες ἡμᾶς ὕμνον, ᾄσατε ἡμῖν ἐκ τῶν ᾠδῶν Σιών.	3 ὅτι ἐκεῖ ἐπηρώτησαν ἡμᾶς οἱ αἰχμαλωτεύσαντες ἡμᾶς λόγους ᾠδῶν καὶ οἱ ἀπαγαγόντες ἡμᾶς ὕμνον· ᾄσατε ἡμῖν ἐκ τῶν ᾠδῶν Σιών.

4 How shall we sing Yahweh’s song in a strange land?

אֵיךְ נָשִׁיר אֶת ־ שִׁיר ־ יְהוָה עַל אַדְמַת נֵכָר׃

אִם ־ אֶשְׁכָּחֵךְ יְרוּשָׁלִָם תִּשְׁכַּח יְמִינִי׃

תִּדְבַּק ־ לְשֹׁונִי לְחִכִּי אִם ־ לֹא אֶזְכְּרֵכִי אִם ־ לֹא אַעֲלֶה אֶת ־ יְרוּשָׁלִַם עַל רֹאשׁ שִׂמְחָתִי׃

6 κολληθείη ἡ γλῶσσά μου τῷ λάρυγγί μου, ἐὰν μή σου μνησθῶ, ἐὰν μὴ προανατάξωμαι τὴν Ἱερουσαλὴμ ἐν ἀρχῇ τῆς εὐφροσύνης μου.	6 κολληθείη ἡ γλῶσσά μου τῷ λάρυγγί μου, ἐὰν μή σου μνησθῶ, ἐὰν μὴ προανατάξωμαι τὴν Ἱερουσαλὴμ ὡς ἐν ἀρχῇ τῆς εὐφροσύνης μου.

7 Remember, Oh Yahweh, the children of Edom in the day of Jerusalem; who said, Raze it, raze it, even to the foundation of it.

זְכֹר יְהוָה לִבְנֵי אֱדֹום אֵת יֹום יְרוּשָׁלִָם הָאֹמְרִים עָרוּ עָרוּ עַד הַיְסֹוד בָּהּ׃

7 Μνήσθητι, κύριε, τῶν υἱῶν Ἐδὼμ τὴν ἡμέραν Ἱερουσαλὴμ τῶν λεγόντων, ἐκκενοῦτε ἐκκενοῦτε, ἕως ὁ θεμέλιος ἐν αὐτῇ.	7 μνήσθητι, Κύριε, τῶν υἱῶν Ἐδὼμ τὴν ἡμέραν Ἱερουσαλὴμ τῶν λεγόντων· ἐκκενοῦτε, ἐκκενοῦτε, ἕως τῶν θεμελιῶν αὐτῆς.

8 Oh daughter of Babylon, who are to be destroyed; happy he shall be, that rewards you as you have served us.

בַּת ־ בָּבֶל הַשְּׁדוּדָה אַשְׁרֵי שֶׁיְשַׁלֶּם ־ לָךְ אֶת ־ גְּמוּלֵךְ שֶׁגָּמַלְתְּ לָנוּ׃

8 θυγάτηρ Βαβυλῶνος ἡ ταλαίπωρος, μακάριος ὃς ἀνταποδώσει σοί τὸ ἀνταπόδομά σου, ὃ ἀνταπέδωκας ἡμῖν·	8 θυγάτηρ Βαβυλῶνος ἡ ταλαίπωρος, μακάριος ὃς ἀνταποδώσει σοι τὸ ἀνταπόδομά σου, ὃν ἀνταπέδωκας ἡμῖν·

9 Happy he shall be, who takes and dashes your little ones against the stones.

אַשְׁרֵי שֶׁיֹּאחֵז וְנִפֵּץ אֶת ־ עֹלָלַיִךְ אֶל ־ הַסָּלַע׃
