Jeremiah

1 And it happened the same year, in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the fourth year, and in the fifth month, that Hananiah the son of Azur the prophet, which was of Gibeon, spoke to me in the house of Yahweh, in the presence of the priests and of all the people, saying,

1 καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τῷ τετάρτῳ ἔτει Σεδεκία βασιλέως Ἰούδα ἐν μηνὶ τῷ πέμπτῳ εἶπέν μοι Ἀνανίας υἱὸς Ἀζὼρ ὁ ψευδοπροφήτης ὁ ἀπὸ Γαβαὼν ἐν οἴκῳ κυρίου κατ’ ὀφθαλμοὺς τῶν ἱερέων καὶ παντὸς τοῦ λαοῦ λέγων	1 Καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τῷ τετάρτῳ ἔτει Σεδεκία βασιλέως Ἰούδα ἐν μηνὶ τῷ πέμπτῳ εἶπέ μοι Ἀνανίας υἱὸς Ἀζὼρ ὁ ψευδοπροφήτης ἀπὸ Γαβαὼν ἐν οἴκῳ Κυρίου κατ’ ὀφθαλμοὺς τῶν ἱερέων καὶ παντὸς τοῦ λαοῦ λέγων·

2 Thus speaks Yahweh of armies, Elohim of Israēl, saying, I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon.

3 Within two full years will I bring again into this place all the vessels of Yahweh’s house, that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took away from this place, and carried them to Babylon.

3 ἔτι δύο ἔτη ἡμερῶν ἐγὼ ἀποστρέψω εἰς τὸν τόπον τοῦτον τὰ σκεύη οἴκου κυρίου	3 ἔτι δύο ἔτη ἡμερῶν καὶ ἐγὼ ἀποστρέψω εἰς τὸν τόπον τοῦτον τὰ σκεύη οἴκου Κυρίου

4 And I will bring again to this place Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah, with all the captives of Judah, that went into Babylon, says Yahweh; for I will break the yoke of the king of Babylon.

4 καὶ Ἰεχονίαν καὶ τὴν ἀποικίαν Ἰούδα, ὅτι συντρίψω τὸν ζυγὸν βασιλέως Βαβυλῶνος.	4 καὶ Ἰεχονίαν καὶ τὴν ἀποικίαν Ἰούδα, ὅτι συντρίψω τὸν ζυγὸν βασιλέως Βαβυλῶνος.

5 Then the prophet Jeremiah said to the prophet Hananiah in the presence of the priests, and in the presence of all the people that stood in the house of Yahweh,

5 καὶ εἶπεν Ἱερεμίας πρὸς Ἀναμεὴλ κατ’ ὀφθαλμοὺς παντὸς τοῦ λαοῦ καὶ κατ’ ὀφθαλμοὺς τῶν ἱερέων τῶν ἑστηκότων ἐν οἴκῳ κυρίου	5 καὶ εἶπε Ἱερεμίας πρὸς Ἀνανίαν κατ’ ὀφθαλμοὺς παντὸς τοῦ λαοῦ καὶ κατ’ ὀφθαλμοὺς τῶν ἱερέων τῶν ἑστηκότων ἐν οἴκῳ Κυρίου.

6 Even the prophet Jeremiah said, Amen: Yahweh do so: Yahweh perform your words which you have prophesied, to bring again the vessels of Yahweh’s house, and all that is carried away captive, from Babylon into this place.

6 καὶ εἶπεν Ἱερεμίας ἀληθῶς· οὕτω ποιήσαι κύριος· στήσαι τὸν λόγον σου, ὃν σὺ προφητεύεις, τοῦ ἐπιστρέψαι τὰ σκεύη οἴκου κυρίου καὶ πᾶσαν τὴν ἀποικίαν ἐκ Βαβυλῶνος εἰς τὸν τόπον τοῦτον.	6 καὶ εἶπε Ἱερεμίας· ἀληθῶς, οὕτως ποιήσαι Κύριος, στήσαι τὸν λόγον σου, ὃν σὺ προφητεύεις, τοῦ ἐπιστρέψαι τὰ σκεύη οἴκου Κυρίου καὶ πᾶσαν τὴν ἀποικίαν ἐκ Βαβυλῶνος εἰς τὸν τόπον τοῦτον.

7 Nevertheless hear you now this word that I speak in your ears, and in the ears of all the people;

8 The prophets that have been before me and before you of old prophesied both against many countries, and against great kingdoms, of war, and of evil, and of pestilence.

8 οἱ προφῆται οἱ γεγονότες πρότεροί μου καὶ πρότεροι ὑμῶν ἀπὸ τοῦ αἰῶνος καὶ ἐπροφήτευσαν ἐπὶ γῆς πολλῆς καὶ ἐπὶ βασιλείας μεγάλας εἰς πόλεμον·	8 οἱ προφῆται οἱ γεγονότες πρότεροί μου καὶ πρότεροι ὑμῶν ἀπὸ τοῦ αἰῶνος καὶ ἐπροφήτευσαν ἐπὶ γῆς πολλῆς καὶ ἐπὶ βασιλείας μεγάλας εἰς πόλεμον·

9 The prophet which prophesies of peace, when the word of the prophet shall come to pass, then shall the prophet be known, that Yahweh has truly sent him.

10 Then Hananiah the prophet took the yoke from off the prophet Jeremiah’s neck, and broke it.

10 καὶ ἔλαβεν Ἀνανίας ἐν ὀφθαλμοῖς παντὸς τοῦ λαοῦ τοὺς κλοιοὺς ἀπὸ τοῦ τραχήλου Ἱερεμίου καὶ συνέτριψεν αὐτούς.	10 καὶ ἔλαβεν Ἀνανίας ἐν ὀφθαλμοῖς παντὸς τοῦ λαοῦ τοὺς κλοιοὺς ἀπὸ τοῦ τραχήλου Ἱερεμίου καὶ συνέτριψεν αὐτούς·

11 And Hananiah spoke in the presence of all the people, saying, Thus says Yahweh; Even so will I break the yoke of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon from the neck of all nations within the space of two full years. And the prophet Jeremiah went his way.

11 καὶ εἶπεν Ἀνανίας κατ’ ὀφθαλμοὺς παντὸς τοῦ λαοῦ λέγων οὕτως εἶπεν κύριος οὕτως συντρίψω τὸν ζυγὸν βασιλέως Βαβυλῶνος ἀπὸ τραχήλων πάντων τῶν ἐθνῶν. καὶ ᾤχετο Ἱερεμίας εἰς τὴν ὁδὸν αὐτοῦ.	11 καὶ εἶπε Ἀνανίας κατ’ ὀφθαλμοὺς παντὸς τοῦ λαοῦ λέγων· οὕτως εἶπε Κύριος· οὕτως συντρίψω τὸν ζυγὸν βασιλέως Βαβυλῶνος ἀπὸ τραχήλων πάντων τῶν ἐθνῶν. καὶ ᾤχετο Ἱερεμίας εἰς τὴν ὁδὸν αὐτοῦ. –
11 And Ananias spoke in the presence of all the people, saying, Thus said the Lord; Thus will I break the yoke of the king of Babylon from the necks of all the nations. 12 Then the word of Yahweh came to Jeremiah the prophet, after that Hananiah the prophet had broken the yoke from off the neck of the prophet Jeremiah, saying,

13 Go and tell Hananiah, saying, Thus says Yahweh; You have broken the yokes of wood; but you shall make for them yokes of iron.

13 βάδιζε καὶ εἰπὸν πρὸς Ἀναμεὴλ λέγων οὕτως εἶπεν κύριος κλοιοὺς ξυλίνους συνέτριψας, καὶ ποιήσω ἀντ’ αὐτῶν κλοιοὺς σιδηροῦς·	13 βάδιζε καὶ εἶπον πρὸς Ἀνανίαν λέγων· οὕτως εἶπε Κύριος· κλοιοὺς ξυλίνους συνέτριψας, καὶ ποιήσω ἀντ’ αὐτῶν κλοιοὺς σιδηροῦς,

14 For thus says Yahweh of armies, Elohim of Israēl; I have put a yoke of iron on the neck of all these nations, that they may serve Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon; and they shall serve him; and I have given him the beasts of the field also.

15 Then said the prophet Jeremiah to Hananiah the prophet, Hear now, Hananiah; Yahweh hasn’t sent you; but you make this people to trust in a lie.

15 καὶ εἶπεν Ἱερεμίας τῷ Ἁνανιὰ οὐκ ἀπέσταλκέν σὲ κύριος, καὶ πεποιθέναι ἐποίησας τὸν λαὸν τοῦτον ἐπ’ ἀδίκῳ·	15 καὶ εἶπε Ἱερεμίας τῷ Ἀνανίᾳ· οὐκ ἀπέσταλκέ σε Κύριος, καὶ πεποιθέναι ἐποίησας τὸν λαὸν τοῦτον ἐπ’ ἀδίκῳ.

16 Therefore thus says Yahweh; Behold, I will cast you from off the face of the earth: this year you shall die, because you have taught rebellion against Yahweh.

16 διὰ τοῦτο οὕτως εἶπεν κύριος ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ ἐξαποστέλλω σὲ ἀπὸ προσώπου τῆς γῆς, τούτῳ τῷ ἐνιαυτῷ ἀποθανῇ.	16 διὰ τοῦτο οὕτως εἶπε Κύριος· ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ ἐξαποστέλλω σε ἀπὸ προσώπου τῆς γῆς, τούτῳ τῷ ἐνιαυτῷ ἀποθανῇ.

17 So Hananiah the prophet died the same year in the seventh month.

καὶ ἀπέθανεν ἐν τῷ μηνὶ τῷ ἑβδόμῳ.	καὶ ἀπέθανεν ἐν τῷ μηνὶ τῷ ἑβδόμῳ.
So he died in the seventh month.	So he died in the seventh month.
