Hezekiah Shows His Treasures

1 At that time Merodach-baladan, the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present to Hezekiah; for he had heard that he had been sick, and was recovered.

1 At that time Marōdach son of Laadan, the king of Babylōnia, sent letters and ambassadors and gifts to Ezekias, for he heard that he had been sick to death and had recovered. 1 At that time Marōdach son of Laadan, the king of Babylōnia, sent letters and ambassadors and gifts to Ezekias, for he heard that he had been sick to death and had recovered.

2 And Hezekiah was glad of them, and showed them the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious ointment, and all the house of his armour, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah showed them not.

2 And Ezekias rejoiced over them with great joy, and he showed them the house of spice and of the oil of balsam and of the incense and of the myrrh and of the silver and of the gold and all the houses of the items of the treasury and all the things that were in his storehouses.
And there was nothing that Ezekias didn’t show them in his house.
2 And Ezekias rejoiced over them with great joy, and he showed them the house of spice and of the silver and of the gold and oil of balsam and of the incense and of the myrrh and all the houses of the items of the treasury and all the things that were in his storehouses.
And there was nothing that Ezekias didn’t show them in his house and in all his authority.

3 Then came Isaiah the prophet to king Hezekiah, and said to him, What did these men say? And from where did they come to you? And Hezekiah said, They are come from a far country to me, even from Babylon.

3 καὶ ἦλθεν Ἠσαίας προφήτης πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα Ἐζεκίαν καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτόν τί λέγουσιν οἱ ἄνθρωποι οὗτοι καὶ πόθεν ἥκασιν πρὸς σέ;
3 καὶ ἦλθεν Ἡσαΐας προφήτης πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα Ἐζεκίαν καὶ εἶπε πρὸς αὐτόν· τί λέγουσιν οἱ ἄνθρωποι οὗτοι;
καὶ πόθεν ἥκασι πρός σέ;
3 Then the prophet Ēsaias came to King Ezekias and said to him, “What do these men say, and from where have they come to you?” And Ezekias said, “They have come to me from a land far away, out of Babylōn.” 3 Then the prophet Hēsaias came to King Ezekias and said to him, “What do these men say, and from where have they come to you?” And Ezekias said, “They have come to me from a land far away, out of Babylōn.”

4 Then said he, What have they seen in your house? And Hezekiah answered, All that is in my house have they seen: there is nothing among my treasures that I haven’t showed them.

4 καὶ εἶπεν Ἠσαίας τί εἴδοσαν ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ σου;
4 καὶ εἶπε Ἡσαΐας· τί εἴδοσαν ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ σου;
4 And Ēsaias said, “What have they seen in your house?” And Ezekias said, “They have seen all the things that are in my house; and there is nothing in my house that they have not seen; but also the things in my storehouses.” 4 And Hēsaias said, “What have they seen in your house?” And Ezekias said, “They have seen all the things that are in my house; and there is nothing in my house that they have not seen; but also the things in my storehouses.”

5 Then said Isaiah to Hezekiah, Hear the word of Yahweh of armies.

5 Then Ēsaias said to him, “Hear the word of the Lord Sabaōth. 5 Then Hēsaias said to him, “Hear the word of the Lord Sabaōth.

6 Behold, the days come, that all that is in your house, and what your fathers have laid up in store until this day, shall be carried to Babylon: nothing shall be left, says Yahweh.

6 Look! days are coming, says the Lord, and they will take all the things that are in your house, and whatever your fathers have gathered together until this day shall go to Babylōn, and they shall leave nothing behind. And God has said 6 Look! days are coming, says the Lord, and they will take all the things that are in your house, and whatever your fathers have gathered together until this day shall go to Babylōn, and they shall leave nothing behind. And God has said

7 And of your sons that shall issue from you, which you shall father, shall they take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.

7 that they shall take also some of your children whom you have produced and they shall make them eunuchs in the house of the king of the Babylōnians.” 7 that they shall take also some of your children whom you have produced and they shall make them eunuchs in the house of the king of the Babylōnians.”

8 Then Hezekiah said to Isaiah, The word of Yahweh which you have spoken is good. He said moreover, For there shall be peace and truth in my days.

8 Then Ezekias said to Ēsaias, “The word of the Lord that he has spoken is good.
Please let there be peace and righteousness in my days.”
8 Then Ezekias said to Hēsaias, “The word of the Lord that he has spoken is good.
Please let there be peace and righteousness in my days.”
