Zion’s Happy Future

1 The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad for them; and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose.

1 Rejoice, Oh thirsty wilderness!
Let the wilderness be glad, and let it blossom like a lily!
1 Rejoice, Oh thirsty wilderness!
Let the wilderness be glad, and let it blossom like a lily!

2 It shall blossom abundantly, and rejoice even with joy and singing: the glory of Lebanon shall be given to it, the excellency of Carmel and Sharon, they shall see the glory of Yahweh, and the excellency of our God.

2 And the deserted places of the Jordan shall flourish and be glad. And the glory of Libanon has been given to it, as well as the honour of Carmēl, and my people shall see the glory of the Lord and the exaltation of God. 2 And the deserted places of the Jordan shall flourish and be glad and be glad. And the glory of Libanon has been given to it, as well as the honour of Carmēl, and my people shall see the glory of the Lord and the exaltation of God.

3 Strengthen the weak hands, and confirm the feeble knees.

3 Be strong, you relaxed hands and feeble knees! 3 Be strong, you relaxed hands and feeble knees!

4 Say to those who are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompense; he will come and save you.

4 Be encouraged, you who are discouraged in mind; Be strong; don’t be afraid! Look! Our God is repaying judgment; and, he will repay; he himself will come and save us. 4 Be encouraged, you who are discouraged in mind; Be strong; don’t be afraid! Look! Our God is repaying judgment; and, he will repay; he himself will come and save us.

5 Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.

5 Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall hear; 5 Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall hear;

6 Then shall the lame man leap as a deer, and the tongue of the dumb sing; for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert.

6 then the cripple shall leap like a deer, and the tongue of stammerers shall be clear, because water has broken forth in the wilderness and a ravine in a thirsty land; 6 then the cripple shall leap like a deer, and the tongue of stammerers shall be clear, because water has broken forth in the wilderness and a ravine in a thirsty land;

7 And the parched ground shall become a pool, and the thirsty land springs of water: in the habitation of dragons, where each lay, shall be grass with reeds and rushes.

7 the dry area shall turn into marshlands, and in the thirsty land there shall be a fountain of water; the gladness of birds shall be there–an area of reed and marshlands. 7 the dry area shall turn into marshlands, and in the thirsty land there shall be a fountain of water; the gladness of birds shall be there–an area of reed and marshlands.

8 And a highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called The way of holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it; but it shall be for those: the wayfaring men, though fools, shall not err in it.

8 A clean road shall be there, and it shall be called a holy road; and the unclean shall not pass by there, nor shall be there an unclean road, but those who have been scattered shall walk on it, and they shall not go astray. 8 A clean road shall be there, and it shall be called a holy road; and the unclean shall not pass by there, nor shall be there an unclean road, but those who have been scattered shall walk on it, and they shall not go astray.

9 No lion shall be there, nor any ravenous beast shall go up on it, it shall not be found there; but the redeemed shall walk there.

9 And no lion shall be there, nor shall any of the evil beasts come up on it or be found there, but the redeemed shall walk on it. 9 And no lion shall be there, nor shall any of the evil beasts come up on it or be found there, but the redeemed shall walk on it.

10 And the ransomed of Yahweh shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy on their heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

10 And those gathered together because of the Lord shall return and come into Siōn with joy; everlasting gladness shall be on their head, for on their head shall be praise and gladness, and joy shall seize them; pain and grief and groaning have fled away. 10 And those gathered together because of the Lord shall return and come into Siōn with joy; everlasting gladness shall be on their head, for on their head shall be praise and gladness, and joy shall seize them; pain and grief and groaning have fled away.
