8 And they brought the head of Ish-bosheth to David to Hebron, and said to the king, “Behold the head of Ish-bosheth the son of Saul your enemy, which sought your life; and Yahweh has avenged my lord the king this day of Saul, and of his seed.”

8 And they brought the head of Memphibosthe to David at Chebrōn and said to the king, “Look! the head of Memphibosthe son of Saoul your enemy, who used to seek your life, and the Lord gave the master king vengeance on his enemies, as this day, on Saoul your enemy and on his offspring.” 8 And they brought the head of Jebosthe to David at Chebrōn and said to the king, “Look! the head of Jebosthe son of Saoul your enemy, who used to seek your life, and the Lord gave the master king vengeance on his enemies, as this day, on Saoul your enemy and on his offspring.”

9 And David answered Rechab and Baanah his brother, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, and said to them, “As Yahweh lives, who has redeemed my soul out of all adversity,

10 When one told me, saying, Behold, Saul is dead, thinking to have brought good tidings, I took hold of him, and killed him in Ziklag, who thought that I would have given him a reward for his tidings.

10 because the one who told me that Saoul had died (and he was as one bringing good news before me) and I seized and killed him at Sekelak, to whom it was necessary that I give a reward for good tidings. 10 because the one who told me that Saoul had died (and he was as one bringing good news before me) and I seized and killed him at Sekelak, to whom it was necessary that I give a reward for good tidings.

11 How much more, when wicked men have slain a righteous person in his own house on his bed? Shall I not therefore now require his blood of your hand, and take you away from the earth?”

11 And now wicked men have killed a righteous man on his bed in his own home! And now I shall require his blood from your hand and destroy you from the land.” 11 And now wicked men have killed a righteous man on his bed in his own home! And now I shall require his blood from your hand and destroy you from the land.”

12 And David commanded his young men, and they killed them, and cut off their hands and their feet, and hanged them up over the pool in Hebron. But they took the head of Ish-bosheth, and buried it in the sepulchre of Abner in Hebron.

12 And David commanded his young men, and they killed them and chopped off their hands and their feet and hung them at the well at Chebrōn, and the head of Memphibosthe they buried in the tomb of Abennēr son of Nēr. 12 And David commanded his young men, and they killed them and chopped off their hands and their feet and hung them at the well at Chebrōn, and the head of Jebosthe they buried in the tomb of Abennēr son of Nēr.
