Judges

1 And there was a man of mount Ephraim, whose name was Micah.

1 Καὶ ἐγένετο ἀνὴρ ἐξ ὄρους Ἐφραὶμ καὶ ὄνομα αὐτῷ Μιχά.	1 Καὶ ἐγένετο ἀνὴρ ἀπὸ ὄρους Ἐφραίμ, καὶ ὄνομα αὐτῷ Μιχαίας.
1 And there was a man from the hill country of Ephraim, and his name was Micha.	1 And there was a man from the hill country of Ephraim, and his name was Michaias.

2 And he said to his mother, “The 1100 shekels of silver that were taken from you, about which you cursed, and spoke about also in my ears, look, the silver is with me. I took it.” And his mother said, “Blessed are you of Yahweh, my son.”

2 καὶ εἶπεν τῇ μητρὶ αὐτοῦ χιλίους καὶ ἑκατὸν ἀργυρίου τοὺς λημφθέντας σοί καὶ ἐξώρκισας καὶ εἶπας ἐν τοῖς ὠσίν μου, ἰδοὺ τὸ ἀργύριον παρ’ ἐμοί, ἐγὼ ἔλαβον αὐτό. καὶ εἶπεν ἡ μήτηρ αὐτοῦ Εὐλογημένος ὁ υἱός μου τῷ κυρίῳ.	2 καὶ εἶπεν τῇ μητρὶ αὐτοῦ· οἱ χίλιοι καὶ ἑκατόν, οὓς ἔλαβες ἀργυρίου σεαυτῇ καὶ με ἠράσω καὶ προσεῖπας ἐν ὠσί μου, ἰδοὺ τὸ ἀργύριον παρ’ ἐμοί, ἐγὼ ἔλαβον αὐτό. καὶ εἶπεν ἡ μήτηρ αὐτοῦ· εὐλογητὸς ὁ υἱός μου τῷ κυρίῳ.
2 And he said to his mother, “1100 silver coins, those that were taken for you (and you administered an oath and spoke in my hearing) look! the money is before me; I took it.” And his mother said, “My son is blessed to the Lord!”	2 And he said to his mother, “The 1100 silver coins which you took for yourself, and you cursed me and declared it in my ears–look! the money is before me; I took it.” And his mother said, “May my son be blessed to the Lord!”

3 And when he had restored the 1100 shekels of silver to his mother, his mother said, “I had entirely dedicated the silver to Yahweh from my hand for my son, to make a carved image and a molded image; now therefore I will restore it to you.”

3 καὶ ἀπέδωκεν τοὺς χιλίους καὶ ἑκατὸν τοῦ ἀργυρίου τῇ μητρὶ αὐτοῦ, καὶ εἶπεν ἡ μήτηρ αὐτοῦ Ἁγιασμῷ ἡγίασα τὸ ἀργύριον τῷ κυρίῳ ἐκ τῆς χειρός μου κατὰ μόνας τοῦ ποιῆσαι γλυπτὸν καὶ χωνευτόν, καὶ νῦν ἐπιστρέψω αὐτά σοί καὶ ἀποδώσω σοί αὐτό.	3 καὶ ἀπέδωκεν τοὺς χιλίους καὶ ἑκατὸν τοῦ ἀργυρίου τῇ μητρὶ αὐτοῦ· καὶ εἶπεν ἡ μήτηρ αὐτοῦ· ἁγιάζουσα ἡγίακα τὸ ἀργύριον τῷ κυρίῳ ἐκ χειρός μου τῷ υἱῷ μου τοῦ ποιῆσαι γλυπτὸν καὶ χωνευτόν, καὶ νῦν ἀποδώσω σοί αὐτό.
3 And he returned the 1100 silver coins to his mother, and his mother said, “By consecration I consecrated the silver to the Lord from my hand, setting it apart to make a carving and a casting, and now I will return them to you and will give it back to you.”	3 And he returned the 1100 silver coins to his mother, and his mother said, “While consecrating, I have consecrated the silver to the Lord from my hand for my son, to make a carving and a casting, and now I will give it back to you.”

4 Yet he restored the money to his mother; and his mother took 200 shekels of silver, and gave them to the silversmith, who made a carved image and a molded image from it. And they were in the house of Micah.

4 καὶ ἀπέδωκεν τὸ ἀργύριον τῇ μητρὶ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔλαβεν ἡ μήτηρ αὐτοῦ· διακοσίους τοῦ ἀργυρίου καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτὸ τῷ χωνευτῇ, καὶ ἐποίησεν αὐτὸ γλυπτὸν καὶ χωνευτόν, καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ Μιχά.	4 καὶ ἀπέδωκεν τὸ ἀργύριον τῇ μητρὶ αὐτοῦ· καὶ ἔλαβεν ἡ μήτηρ αὐτοῦ διακοσίους ἀργυρίου καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτὸ ἀργυροκόπῳ, καὶ ἐποίησεν αὐτὸ γλυπτὸν καὶ χωνευτόν· καὶ ἐγενήθη ἐν οἴκῳ Μιχαία.
4 And he returned the silver to his mother, and his mother took 200 silver coins and gave it to the smelter, and he made it into a carving and a casting. 5 And the man Micah had a house of gods, and made an ephod, and teraphim, and consecrated one of his sons, who became his priest.

5 καὶ ὁ ἀνὴρ Μιχά, αὐτῷ οἶκος θεοῦ· καὶ ἐποίησεν ἐφοὺδ καὶ θεραφὶν καὶ ἐνέπλησεν τὴν χεῖρα ἑνὸς τῶν υἱῶν αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἐγενήθη αὐτῷ εἰς ἱερέα.	5 καὶ ὁ οἶκος Μιχαία, αὐτῷ οἶκος θεοῦ· καὶ ἐποίησεν ἐφὼδ καὶ θαραφίν· καὶ ἐπλήρωσεν τὴν χεῖρα ἀπὸ ἑνὸς υἱῶν αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἐγένετο αὐτῷ εἰς ἱερέα.
5 As for the man Micha, he had a house of god, and he made ephoud and therafin and filled the hand of one of his sons, and he became for a priest for him.	5 And the house of Michaias was a house of god for him, and he made ephōd and tharaphin and filled the hand from one of his sons, and he became for a priest for him.

6 In those days there was no king in Israēl, but every man did what was right in his own eyes.

6 ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις ἐκείναις οὐκ ἦν βασιλεὺς ἐν Ἰσραήλ· ἀνὴρ τὸ ἀγαθὸν ἐν ὀφθαλμοῖς αὐτοῦ ἐποίει.	6 ἐν δὲ ταῖς ἡμέραις ἐκείναις οὐκ ἦν βασιλεὺς ἐν Ἰσραήλ· ἀνὴρ τὸ εὐθὲς ἐν ὀφθαλμοῖς αὐτοῦ ἐποίει.

7 And there was a young man out of Bethlehem-Judah of the family of Judah, who was a Levite, and he stayed there.

7 Καὶ ἐγένετο παιδάριον ἐκ Βηθλεὲμ δήμου Ἰούδα ἐκ τῆς συγγενείας Ἰούδα, καὶ αὐτὸς Λευίτης, καὶ αὐτὸς παρῴκει ἐκεῖ.	7 Καὶ ἐγενήθη νεανίας ἐκ Βηθλεὲμ δήμου Ἰούδα, καὶ αὐτὸς Λευίτης, καὶ οὗτος παρῴκει ἐκεῖ.
7 And there was a lad of Bēthleem, a division of Joudas, of the relatives of Joudas, himself a Levite, and he lived there as a resident alien.	7 And there was a young man of Bethleem, a division of Joudas, he was a Levite, and he lived there as a resident alien.

8 And the man departed out of the city from Bethlehem-Judah to stay where he could find a place; and he came to mount Ephraim to the house of Micah, as he journeyed.

8 καὶ ἐπορεύθη ὁ ἀνὴρ ἐκ τῆς πόλεως Ἰούδα ἐκ Βηθλεὲμ παροικεῖν οὗ ἐὰν εὕρῃ, καὶ ἐγενήθη εἰς ὄρος Ἐφραὶμ ἕως οἴκου Μιχὰ τοῦ ποιῆσαι τὴν ὁδὸν αὐτοῦ.	8 καὶ ἐπορεύθη ὁ ἀνὴρ ἀπὸ Βηθλεὲμ τῆς πόλεως Ἰούδα παροικῆσαι ἐν ᾧ ἐὰν εὕρῃ τόπῳ, καὶ ἦλθεν ἕως ὄρους Ἐφραὶμ καὶ ἕως οἴκου Μιχαία τοῦ ποιῆσαι ὁδὸν αὐτοῦ.
8 And the man went out of the city of Joudas, out of Bēthleem, to live as resident alien wherever he could find. And he came to the hill country of Ephraim as far as the house of Micha, to make his way.	8 And the man went from Bēthleem, of the city of Joudas, to live as resident alien in whatever place he could find. And he came as far as the hill country of Ephraim and as far as the house of Michaias, to make his way.

9 And Micah said to him, “From where have you come?” And he said to him, “I am a Levite of Bethlehem in Judah, and I am going to stay where I may find a place.”

9 καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Μιχὰ Πόθεν ἔρχῃ; καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτόν Λευίτης ἐγώ εἰμι ἐκ Βηθλεὲμ Ἰούδα, καὶ ἐγὼ πορεύομαι παροικεῖν οὗ ἐὰν εὕρω.	9 καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Μιχαίας· πόθεν ἔρχῃ; καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτόν· Λευίτης εἰμὶ ἀπὸ Βαιθλεὲμ Ἰούδα, καὶ ἐγὼ πορεύομαι παροικῆσαι ἐν ᾧ ἐὰν εὕρω τόπῳ.
9 And Micha said to him, “From where do you come?” And he replied, “I am a Levite out of Bēthleem in Joudas, and I am going to live as resident alien wherever I can find.”	9 And Michaias said to him, “From where do you come?” And he replied, “I am a Levite from Baithleem in Joudas, and I am going to live as resident alien in whatever place I can find.”

10 And Micah said to him, “Dwell with me, and be a father and a priest to me, and I will give you ten shekels of silver per year, and a suit of apparel, and your food.” So the Levite went in.

10 καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Μιχὰ Κάθου μετ’ ἐμοῦ καὶ γενοῦ μοι εἰς πατέρα καὶ εἰς ἱερέα, καὶ ἐγὼ δώσω σοί δέκα ἀργυρίου εἰς ἡμέρας καὶ ζεῦγος ἱματίων καὶ τὰ πρὸς τὸ ζῆν σου καὶ ἐπορεύθη ὁ Λευίτης	10 καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Μιχαίας· κάθου μετ’ ἐμοῦ καὶ γίνου μοι εἰς πατέρα καὶ εἰς ἱερέα, καὶ ἐγὼ δώσω σοί δέκα ἀργυρίου εἰς ἡμέραν καὶ στολὴν ἱματίων καὶ τὰ πρὸς ζωήν σου. καὶ ἐπορεύθη ὁ Λευίτης
10 And Micha said to him, “Settle with me, and become for a father and for a priest to me, and I will give you ten silver coins for days and a set of clothes and what you need to live on.” And the Levite went	10 And Michaias said to him, “Settle with me, and become for a father and for a priest to me, and I will give you ten silver coins a day and a robe of clothes and what you need to live on.” And the Levite went

11 And the Levite was content to dwell with the man; and the young man was to him like one of his sons.

11 καὶ ἤρξατο παροικεῖν παρὰ τῷ ἀνδρί, καὶ ἐγενήθη αὐτῷ τὸ παιδάριον ὡς εἷς τῶν υἱῶν αὐτοῦ.	11 καὶ ἤρξατο παροικεῖν παρὰ τῷ ἀνδρί, καὶ ἐγενήθη ὁ νεανίας παρ’ αὐτῷ ὡς εἷς ἀπὸ υἱῶν αὐτοῦ.
11 and began to live as a resident alien with the man, and the lad became to him like one of his sons.	11 and began to live as a resident alien with the man, and the young man became with him like one from among his sons.

12 And Micah consecrated the Levite; and the young man became his priest, and was in the house of Micah.

12 καὶ ἐνέπλησεν Μιχὰ τὴν χεῖρα τοῦ Λευίτου, καὶ ἐγενήθη αὐτῷ τὸ παιδάριον εἰς ἱερέα καὶ ἦν ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ Μιχά.	12 καὶ ἐπλήρωσεν Μιχαιὰς τὴν χεῖρα τοῦ Λευίτου, καὶ ἐγένετο αὐτῷ εἰς ἱερέα καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν οἴκῳ Μιχαία.
12 And Micha filled the Levite’s hand, and the lad became for a priest to him and was in the house of Micha.	12 And Michaias filled the Levite’s hand, and he became for a priest to him and came to be in the house of Michaias.

13 Then Micah said, “Now know I that Yahweh will do me good, seeing I have a Levite for my priest.”

13 καὶ εἶπεν Μιχὰ Νῦν ἔγνων ὅτι ἠγαθοποίησέν με κύριος, ὅτι ἐγενήθη μοι ὁ Λευίτης εἰς ἱερέα.	13 καὶ εἶπεν Μιχαίας· νῦν ἔγνων ὅτι ἀγαθυνεῖ κύριος, ἐμοί ὅτι ἐγένετό μοι ὁ Λευίτης εἰς ἱερέα.
13 And Micha said, “Now I know that the Lord favours me, because the Levite has become for a priest to me.”	13 And Michaias said, “Now I know that the Lord will be good to me, because the Levite has become for a priest to me.”
