Prayer for Mercy and Help

1 [LM 63:19b] Oh that you would tear the heavens, that you would come down, that the mountains might flow down at your presence,

1 [LM 63:19b] If you should open the sky, trembling you would seize the mountains, and they would melt 1 [LM 63:19b] If you should open the sky, trembling you would seize the mountains, and they would melt

2 [LM 64:1] As when the melting fire burns, the fire causes the waters to boil, to make your name known to your adversaries, that the nations may tremble at your presence!

2 [LM 64:1] as wax melts from the fire.
And fire shall burn up your adversaries, and the name of the Lord shall be revealed among your adversaries; nations shall be confused at your presence.
2 [LM 64:1] as wax melts from the fire.
And fire shall burn up your adversaries, and the name of the Lord shall be revealed among your adversaries; nations shall be confused at your presence.

3 [LM 64:2] When you did terrible things which we looked not for, you came down, the mountains flowed down at your presence.

3 [LM 64:2] When you do your glorious things, trembling from you will seize the mountains. 3 [LM 64:2] When you do your glorious things, trembling from you will seize the mountains.

4 [LM 64:3] For since the beginning of the world men haven’t heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither has the eye seen, Oh God, beside you, what he has prepared for him who waits for him.

4 [LM 64:3] From past ages we have not heard, nor have our eyes seen any God apart from you, and your works, which you will do to those who wait for mercy. 4 [LM 64:3] From past ages we have not heard, nor have our eyes seen any God apart from you, and your works, which you will do to those who wait for mercy.

5 [LM 64:4] You meet him who rejoices and works righteousness, those who remember you in your ways: behold, you are wroth; for we have sinned: in those is continuance, and we shall be saved.

5 [LM 64:4] For he will meet those who do what is right, and they will remember your ways.
Look! You were angry, and we sinned; therefore we went astray.
5 [LM 64:4] For he will meet those who do what is right, and they will remember your ways.
Look! You were angry, and we sinned; therefore we went astray.

6 [LM 64:5] But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

6 [LM 64:5] And we have all become like unclean people; all our righteousness is like a woman’s menstrual rag.
And we have fallen off like leaves because of our lawlessness; thus the wind will carry us away.
6 [LM 64:5] And we have all become like unclean people; all our righteousness is like a woman’s menstrual rag.
And we have fallen off like leaves because of our lawlessness; thus the wind will carry us away.

7 [LM 64:6] And there is none that calls on your name, that stirs up himself to take hold of you; for you have hid your face from us, and have consumed us, because of our iniquities.

7 [LM 64:6] And there is no one who calls on your name or remembers to take hold of you, because you have turned your face away from us and have delivered us over because of our sins. 7 [LM 64:6] And there is no one who calls on your name or remembers to take hold of you, because you have turned your face away from us and have delivered us over because of our sins.

8 [LM 64:7] But now, Oh Yahweh, you are our father; we are the clay, and you our potter; and we all are the work of your hand.

8 [LM 64:7] And now, Oh Lord, you are our Father, and we are clay, all of us the work of your hands. 8 [LM 64:7] And now, Oh Lord, you are our Father, and we are clay, all of us the work of your hands.

9 [LM 64:8] Don’t be wroth very sore, Oh Yahweh, neither remember iniquity forever: behold, see, we beseech you, we are all your people.

9 [LM 64:8] Don’t be very angry, and don’t remember our sins in season.
And now look, because we are all your people.
9 [LM 64:8] Don’t be very angry, and don’t remember our sins in season.
And now look, because we are all your people.

10 [LM 64:9] Your holy cities are a wilderness, Zion is a wilderness, Jerusalem a desolation.

10 [LM 64:9] Your holy city has become a wilderness; Siōn has become like a wilderness, Jerousalēm a curse. 10 [LM 64:9] Your holy city has become a wilderness; Siōn has become like a wilderness, Jerousalēm a curse.

11 [LM 64:10] Our holy and our beautiful house, where our fathers praised you, is burned up with fire; and all our pleasant things are laid waste.

11 [LM 64:10] The house, our holy place, even the glory that our fathers blessed, has become fire-charred, and all our glorious places have fallen in ruins. 11 [LM 64:10] The house, our holy place, even the glory that our fathers blessed, has become fire-charred, and all our glorious places have fallen in ruins.

12 [LM 64:11] Will you restrain yourself for these things, Oh Yahweh? Will you hold your peace, and afflict us very sore?

12 [LM 64:11] And for all these things you have restrained yourself, Oh Lord, and have kept silent and have humbled us greatly. 12 [LM 64:11] And for all these things you have restrained yourself, Oh Lord, and have kept silent and have humbled us greatly.
