1 Why boast yourself in mischief, Oh mighty man? The goodness of God endures continually.

1 Τί ἐγκαυχᾷ ἐν κακίᾳ, δυνατός, ἀνομίαν ὅλην τὴν ἡμέραν; 1 Τί Ἐγκαυχᾷ ἐν κακίᾳ, δυνατός, ἀνομίαν ὅλην τὴν ἡμέραν;
1 Oh mighty man, why in wickedness do you boast about lawlessness the whole day? 1 Oh mighty man, why in wickedness do you boast about lawlessness the whole day?

2 Your tongue devises mischiefs; like a sharp razor, working craftily.

2 Your tongue calculated injustice. Like a sharpened razor you made deceit. 2 Your tongue calculated injustice. Like a sharpened razor you made deceit.

3 You love evil more than good; and lying rather than to speak righteousness. Selah.

3 You loved evil more than goodness, injustice more than speaking righteousness. Musical pause. 3 You loved evil more than goodness, injustice more than speaking righteousness. Musical pause.

4 You love all devouring words, Oh you deceitful tongue.

4 You have loved all words of drowning, and a deceitful tongue. 4 You have loved all words of drowning, and a deceitful tongue.

5 God shall likewise destroy you for ever, he shall take you away, and pluck you out of your dwelling place, and root you out of the land of the living. Selah.

5 Therefore God will pull you down completely; may he pluck you and make you flee from a tent, and your root from the land of the living. Musical pause. 5 Therefore God will pull you down completely; may he pluck you and make you flee from a tent, and your root from the land of the living. Musical pause.

6 The righteous also shall see, and fear, and shall laugh at him;

6 And righteous ones will see and fear and will laugh at him and say, 6 And righteous ones will see and fear and will laugh at him and say,

7 Lo, this is the man who didn’t make God his strength; but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness.

7 Look, a man who didn’t make God his helper but was encouraged by the abundance of his riches and was strengthened by his vanity. 7 Look, a man who didn’t make God his helper but was encouraged by the abundance of his riches and was strengthened by his vanity.

8 But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God; I trust in the mercy of God forever and ever.

8 But I am like a fruitful olive tree in the house of God. I had confidence in the mercy of God forever, even forever and ever. 8 But I am like a fruitful olive tree in the house of God. I had confidence in the mercy of God forever, even forever and ever.

9 I will praise you for ever, because you have done it; and I will wait on your name; for it is good before your saints.

9 I will acknowledge you forever, because of what you did, and I will wait for your name, because it is good before your devout ones. 9 I will acknowledge you forever, because of what you did, and I will wait for your name, because it is good before your devout ones.
