A Psalm of David.

1 Yahweh is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? Yahweh is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

1 Κύριος φωτισμός μου καὶ σωτήρ μου, τίνα φοβηθήσομαι; κύριος ὑπερασπιστὴς τῆς ζωῆς μου ἀπὸ τίνος δειλιάσω;	1 κύριος φωτισμός μου καὶ σωτήρ μου· τίνα φοβηθήσομαι; Κύριος ὑπερασπιστὴς τῆς ζωῆς μου· ἀπὸ τίνος δειλιάσω;

2 When the wicked, even my enemies and my foes, came on me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.

2 ἐν τῷ ἐγγίζειν ἐπ’ ἐμὲ κακοῦντας, τοῦ φαγεῖν τὰς σάρκας μου, οἱ θλίβοντές με καὶ οἱ ἐχθροί μου, αὐτοὶ ἠσθένησαν καὶ ἔπεσαν.	2 ἐν τῷ ἐγγίζειν ἐπ’ ἐμὲ κακοῦντας τοῦ φαγεῖν τὰς σάρκας μου, οἱ θλίβοντές με καὶ οἱ ἔχθροί μου, αὐτοὶ ἠσθένησαν καὶ ἔπεσαν.

3 Though an army should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.

3 ἐὰν παρατάξηται ἐπ’ ἐμὲ παρεμβολή, οὐ φοβηθήσεται ἡ καρδία μου· ἐὰν ἐπαναστῇ ἐπ’ ἐμὲ πόλεμος, ἐν ταύτῃ ἐγὼ ἐλπίζω.	3 ἐὰν παρατάξηται ἐπ’ ἐμὲ παρεμβολή, οὐ φοβηθήσεται ἡ καρδία μου· ἐὰν ἐπαναστῇ ἐπ’ ἐμὲ πόλεμος, ἐν ταύτῃ ἐγὼ ἐλπίζω.

4 One thing have I desired of Yahweh, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of Yahweh all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of Yahweh, and to inquire in his temple.

4 μίαν ᾐτησάμην παρὰ κυρίου, ταύτην ἐκζητήσω, τοῦ κατοικεῖν με ἐν οἴκῳ κυρίου πάσας τὰς ἡμέρας τῆς ζωῆς μου, τοῦ θεωρεῖν με τὴν τερπνότητα τοῦ κυρίου, καὶ ἐπισκέπτεσθαι τὸν ναὸν αὐτοῦ.	4 μίαν ᾐτησάμην παρὰ Κυρίου, ταύτην ἐκζητήσω· τοῦ κατοικεῖν με ἐν οἴκῳ Κυρίου πάσας τὰς ἡμέρας τῆς ζωῆς μου, τοῦ θεωρεῖν με τὴν τερπνότητα Κυρίου καὶ ἐπισκέπτεσθαι τὸν ναὸν τὸν ἅγιον αὐτοῦ.

5 For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion; in the secret of his tent he shall hide me; he shall set me up on a rock.

5 ὅτι ἔκρυψέν με ἐν σκηνῇ ἐν ἡμέρᾳ κακῶν μου, ἐσκέπασέν με ἐν ἀποκρύφῳ τῆς σκηνῆς αὐτοῦ· ἐν πέτρᾳ ὕψωσέν με,	5 ὅτι ἔκρυψέ με ἐν σκηνῇ αὐτοῦ ἐν ἡμέρᾳ κακῶν μου, ἐσκέπασέ με ἐν ἀποκρύφῳ τῆς σκηνῆς αὐτοῦ, ἐν πέτρᾳ ὕψωσέν με.

6 And now shall my head be lifted up above my enemies all around me; therefore will I offer in his tent sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to Yahweh.

6 καὶ νῦν ἰδοὺ ὕψωσεν τὴν κεφαλήν μου ἐπ’ ἐχθρούς μου· ἐκύκλωσα καὶ ἔθυσα ἐν τῇ σκηνῇ αὐτοῦ θυσίαν ἀλαλαγμοῦ, ᾄσομαι καὶ ψαλῶ τῷ κυρίῳ·	6 καὶ νῦν ἰδοὺ ὕψωσε κεφαλήν μου ἐπ’ ἐχθρούς μου· ἐκύκλωσα καὶ ἔθυσα ἐν τῇ σκηνῇ αὐτοῦ θυσίαν ἀλαλαγμοῦ, ᾄσομαι καὶ ψαλῶ τῷ Κυρίῳ.

7 Hear, Oh Yahweh, when I cry with my voice; have mercy also on me, and answer me.

8 When you said, Seek you my face; my heart said to you, Your face, Yahweh, will I seek.

8 σοί εἶπεν ἡ καρδία μου, ἐζήτησεν τὸ πρόσωπόν μου τὸ πρόσωπόν σου, κύριε ζητήσω.	8 σοί εἶπε ἡ καρδία μου· ἐξεζήτησέ σε τὸ πρόσωπόν μου· τὸ πρόσωπόν σου, Κύριε, ζητήσω.

9 Don’t hide your face far from me; don’t put your servant away in anger; you have been my help; don’t leave me, neither forsake me, Oh God of my salvation.

9 μὴ ἀποστρέψῃς τὸ πρόσωπόν σου ἀπ’ ἐμοῦ, μὴ ἐκκλίνῃς ἐν ὀργῇ ἀπὸ τοῦ δούλου σου· βοηθός μου γενοῦ, μὴ ἀποσκορακίσῃς με, καὶ μὴ ἐγκαταλίπῃς με ὁ θεὸς ὁ σωτήρ μου.	9 μὴ ἀποστρέψῃς τὸ πρόσωπόν σου ἀπ’ ἐμοῦ καὶ μὴ ἐκκλίνῃς ἐν ὀργῇ ἀπὸ τοῦ δούλου σου· βοηθός μου γενοῦ, μὴ ἀποσκορακίσῃς με καὶ μὴ ἐγκαταλίπῃς με, ὁ Θεός, ὁ σωτήρ μου.
9 Don’t turn your face away from me. Don’t turn away from your slave in wrath; become my helper. Don’t damn me, and do not abandon me, Oh God, my saviour,	9 Don’t turn your face away from me. 10 When my father and my mother forsake me, then Yahweh will take me up.

11 Teach me your way, Oh Yahweh, and lead me in a plain path, because of my enemies.

12 Don’t deliver me over to the will of my enemies; for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty.

13 I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of Yahweh in the land of the living.

14 Wait on Yahweh; be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on Yahweh.
