To the chief Musician on Muthlabben, A Psalm of David.

For the end, a Psalm of David, concerning the secrets of the son. For the end, a Psalm of David, concerning the secrets of the son.

1 I will praise you, Oh Yahweh, with my whole heart; I will show forth all your marvellous works.

1 I will give thanks to you, Oh Lord, with my whole heart; I will describe all your wonderful things. 1 I will give thanks to you, Oh Lord, with my whole heart; I will describe all your wonderful things.

2 I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing praise to your name, Oh you most High.

2 I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing to your name, Oh Most High. 2 I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing to your name, Oh Most High.

3 When my enemies are turned back, they shall fall and perish at your presence.

3 When my enemies turn back, backward, they shall be feeble and perish from before you. 3 When my enemies turn back, backward, they shall be feeble and perish from before you.

4 For you have maintained my right and my cause; you sat in the throne judging right.

4 Because you have established my judgment and my justice, you sat on the throne that judges righteousness. 4 Because you have established my judgment and my justice, you sat on the throne that judges righteousness.

5 You have rebuked the heathen, you have destroyed the wicked, you have put out their name forever and ever.

5 You rebuked the nations, and the impious perished; you blotted out their name for ever, even forever and ever. 5 You rebuked the nations, and the impious perished; you blotted out their name for ever, even forever and ever.

6 Oh you enemy, destructions are come to a perpetual end; and you have destroyed cities; their memorial is perished with them.

6 The swords of the enemy failed completely; and you destroyed cities; their memory perished with a bang, 6 The swords of the enemy failed completely; and you destroyed cities; their memory perished with a bang,

7 But Yahweh shall endure for ever; he has prepared his throne for judgment.

7 but the Lord remains forever; he prepared his throne for judgment. 7 but the Lord remains forever; he prepared his throne for judgment.

8 And he shall judge the world in righteousness, he shall minister judgment to the people in uprightness.

8 And he will judge the inhabited world by righteousness, he will judge the peoples by uprightness. 8 And he will judge the inhabited world by righteousness, he will judge the peoples by uprightness.

9 Yahweh also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.

9 And the Lord became a refuge for the poor, a helper at the right moments in affliction. 9 And the Lord became a refuge for the poor, a helper at the right moments in affliction.

10 And they who know your name will put their trust in you; for you, Yahweh, haven’t forsaken those who seek you.

10 And let those who know your name be confident in you; because you haven’t forsaken those who seek you, Oh Lord. 10 And let those who know your name be confident in you; because you haven’t forsaken those who seek you, Oh Lord.

11 Sing praises to Yahweh, who dwells in Zion; declare among the people his doings.

11 Sing to the Lord, who dwells in Siōn; declare his practices among the nations. 11 Sing to the Lord, who dwells in Siōn; declare his practices among the nations.

12 When he makes inquisition for blood, he remembers them; he doesn’t forget the cry of the humble.

12 Because while searching for blood, he remembered them; he didn’t forget the outcry of the poor. 12 Because while searching for blood, he remembered them; he didn’t forget the outcry of the poor.

13 Have mercy on me, Oh Yahweh; consider my trouble which I suffer of those who hate me, you who lift me up from the gates of death;

13 Have mercy on me, Oh Lord; look on my humiliation from my enemies, you are the one who lifts me up from the gates of death; 13 Have mercy on me, Oh Lord; look on my humiliation from my enemies, you are the one who lifts me up from the gates of death;

14 That I may show forth all your praise in the gates of the daughter of Zion; I will rejoice in your salvation.

14 so that I may proclaim all your praises at the gates of the daughter of Siōn; I will rejoice in your salvation. 14 so that I may proclaim all your praises at the gates of the daughter of Siōn; I will rejoice in your salvation.

15 The heathen are sunk down in the pit that they made; in the net which they hid is their own foot taken.

15 The nations are trapped by the corruption which they made; their foot is trapped in this trap which they concealed. 15 The nations are trapped by the corruption which they made; their foot is trapped in this trap which they concealed.

16 Yahweh is known by the judgment which he executes; the wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. Higgaion. Selah.

16 The Lord is known for executing judgments; by the works of his hands, the sinner is captured.
A song pause.
16 The Lord is known for executing judgments; by the works of his hands, the sinner is captured.
A song pause.

17 The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.

17 Let sinners be turned away into Hades, all the nations who keep forgetting God. 17 Let sinners be turned away into Hades, all the nations who keep forgetting God.

18 For the needy shall not always be forgotten; the expectation of the poor shall not perish for ever.

18 Because the poor won’t be forgotten for ever; the endurance of the needy won’t perish forever. 18 Because the poor won’t be forgotten for ever; the endurance of the needy won’t perish forever.

19 Arise, Oh Yahweh; don’t let man prevail; let the heathen be judged in your sight.

19 Arise, Oh Lord, don’t let man prevail; let nations be judged before you. 19 Arise, Oh Lord, don’t let man prevail; let nations be judged before you.

20 Put them in fear, Oh Yahweh; that the nations may know themselves to be but men. Selah.

20 Appoint, Oh Lord, a lawgiver over them; let nations know that they are men.
Musical pause.
