Genesis

1 And Sarah was 127 years old: these were the years of the life of Sarah.

2 And Sarah died in Kirjath-arba; the same is Hebron in the land of Canaan; and Abraham came to mourn for Sarah, and to weep for her.

3 And Abraham stood up from before his dead, and spoke to the sons of Heth, saying,

5 And the children of Heth answered Abraham, saying to him,

6 “No, sir; but hear us. Among us, you are a king from God; bury your dead in our choice tombs, for not one of us will withhold his tomb from you, to bury your dead there.”	6 but hear us. 7 And Abraham stood up, and bowed himself to the people of the land, even to the children of Heth.

8 And he communed with them, saying, “If it be your mind that I should bury my dead out of my sight; hear me, and entreat for me to Ephron the son of Zohar,

8 καὶ ἐλάλησεν πρὸς αὐτοὺς Ἁβραὰμ λέγων, εἰ ἔχετε τῇ ψυχῇ ὑμῶν ὥστε θάψαι τὸν νεκρόν μου ἀπὸ προσώπου μου, ἀκούσατέ μου καὶ λαλήσατε περὶ ἐμοῦ Ἐφρὼν τῷ τοῦ Σαάρ,	8 καὶ ἐλάλησε πρὸς αὐτοὺς Ἁβραὰμ λέγων· εἰ ἔχετε τῇ ψυχῇ ὑμῶν, ὥστε θάψαι τὸν νεκρόν μου ἀπὸ προσώπου μου, ἀκούσατέ μου καὶ λαλήσατε περὶ ἐμοῦ Ἐφρὼν τῷ τοῦ Σαάρ,

9 καὶ δότω μοι τὸ σπήλαιον τὸ διπλοῦν, ὅ ἐστιν αὐτῷ, τὸ ὂν ἐν μέρει τοῦ ἀγροῦ αὐτοῦ· ἀργυρίου τοῦ ἀξίου δότω μοι αὐτὸ ἐν ὑμῖν εἰς κτῆσιν μνημείου.	9 καὶ δότω μοι τὸ σπήλαιον τὸ διπλοῦν, ὅ ἐστιν αὐτῷ, τὸ ὂν ἐν μέρει τοῦ ἀγροῦ αὐτοῦ· ἀργυρίου τοῦ ἀξίου δότω μοι αὐτὸ ἐν ὑμῖν εἰς κτῆσιν μνημείου.

10 And Ephron dwelt among the children of Heth; and Ephron the Hittite answered Abraham in the audience of the children of Heth, even of all that went in at the gate of his city, saying,

10 Ἐφρὼν δὲ ἐκάθητο ἐν μέσῳ τῶν υἱῶν Χέτ· ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ Ἐφρὼν ὁ Χετταῖος πρὸς Ἁβραὰμ εἶπεν ἀκουόντων τῶν υἱῶν Χὲτ καὶ πάντων τῶν εἰσπορευομένων εἰς τὴν πόλιν λέγων,	10 Ἐφρὼν δὲ ἐκάθητο ἐν μέσῳ τῶν υἱῶν Χέτ· ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ Ἐφρὼν ὁ Χετταῖος πρὸς Ἁβραὰμ εἶπε, ἀκουόντων τῶν υἱῶν Χὲτ καὶ τῶν εἰσπορευομένων εἰς τὴν πόλιν πάντων, λέγων·

11 “Come near me, sir, and hear me, I give to you the field and the cave which is in it; in front of all my citizens, I give to you. 12 And Abraham bowed down himself before the people of the land.

13 And he spoke to Ephron in the audience of the people of the land, saying, “But if you will give it, please, hear me: I will give you money for the field; take it of me, and I will bury my dead there.”

13 καὶ εἶπεν τῷ Ἐφρὼν εἰς τὰ ὦτα τοῦ λαοῦ τῆς γῆς, ἐπειδὴ πρὸς ἐμοῦ εἶ, ἄκουσόν μου· τὸ ἀργύριον τοῦ ἀγροῦ λαβὲ παρ’ ἐμοῦ, καὶ θάψω τὸν νεκρόν μου ἐκεῖ.	13 καὶ εἶπε τῷ Ἐφρὼν εἰς τὰ ὦτα ἐναντίον τοῦ λαοῦ τῆς γῆς· ἐπειδὴ πρὸς ἐμοῦ εἶ, ἄκουσόν μου· τὸ ἀργύριον τοῦ ἀγροῦ λάβε παρ’ ἐμοῦ, καὶ θάψω τὸν νεκρόν μου ἐκεῖ.

14 And Ephron answered Abraham, saying to him,

15 οὐχί, κύριε· ἀκήκοα. γῆ τετρακοσίων διδράχμων ἀργυρίου, ἀνὰ μέσον ἐμοῦ καὶ σου τί ἄν εἴη τοῦτο; σὺ δὲ τὸν νεκρόν σου θάψον.	15 οὐχὶ κύριε, ἀκήκοα γάρ, γῆ τετρακοσίων διδράχμων ἀργυρίου, ἀλλὰ τί ἄν εἴη τοῦτο ἀνὰ μέσον ἐμοῦ καὶ σοῦ; σὺ δὲ τὸν νεκρόν σου θάψον.

16 And Abraham listened to Ephron; and Abraham weighed to Ephron the silver, which he had named in the audience of the sons of Heth, 400 shekels of silver, current money with the merchant.

16 καὶ ἤκουσεν Ἁβραὰμ τοῦ Ἐφρών, καὶ ἀπεκατέστησεν Ἁβραὰμ τῷ Ἐφρὼν τὸ ἀργύριον, ὃ ἐλάλησεν εἰς τὰ ὦτα τῶν υἱῶν Χέτ, τετρακόσια δίδραχμα ἀργυρίου δοκίμου ἐμπόροις.	16 καὶ ἤκουσεν Ἁβραὰμ τοῦ Ἐφρών, καὶ ἀποκατέστησεν Ἁβραὰμ τῷ Ἐφρὼν τὸ ἀργύριον, ὃν ἐλάλησεν εἰς τὰ ὦτα τῶν υἱῶν Χέτ, τετρακόσια δίδραχμα ἀργυρίου δοκίμου ἐμπόροις.

17 καὶ ἔστη ὁ ἀγρὸς Ἐφρών, ὃς ἦν ἐν τῷ διπλῷ σπηλαίῳ, ὅς ἐστιν κατὰ πρόσωπον Μαμβρῆ, ὁ ἀγρὸς καὶ τὸ σπήλαιον, ὃ ἦν ἐν αὐτῷ, καὶ πᾶν δένδρον, ὃ ἦν ἐν τῷ ἀγρῷ, ὅ ἐστιν ἐν τοῖς ὁρίοις αὐτοῦ κύκλῳ,	17 καὶ ἔστη ὁ ἀγρὸς Ἐφρών, ὃς ἦν ἐν τῷ διπλῷ σπηλαίῳ, ὅς ἔστι κατὰ πρόσωπον Μαμβρῆ, ὁ ἀγρὸς καὶ τὸ σπήλαιον, ὃν ἦν ἐν αὐτῷ, καὶ πᾶν δένδρον, ὃν ἦν ἐν τῷ ἀγρῷ, καὶ πᾶν ὅ ἐστιν ἐν τοῖς ὁρίοις αὐτοῦ κύκλῳ,

18 unto Abraham for a possession in the presence of the children of Heth, before all that went in at the gate of his city.
