4 “I am a resident alien and a migrant among you, give me therefore property for a burying-place among you, and I will bury my dead away from me.” | 4 “I am a resident alien and a migrant among you, give me therefore property for a burying-place among you, and I will bury my dead away from me.” |
5 And the children of Heth answered Abraham, saying to him,
5 And the sons of Chet responded to Abraham, saying, | 5 And the sons of Chet answered to Abraham, saying, “No, Sir, |
6 “Hear us, my lord: you are a mighty prince among us: in the choice of our sepulchres bury your dead; none of us shall withhold from you his sepulchre, but that you may bury your dead.”

6 “No, sir; but hear us. Among us, you are a king from God; bury your dead in our choice tombs, for not one of us will withhold his tomb from you, to bury your dead there.” | 6 but hear us. Among us, you are a king from God; bury your dead in our choice tombs, for not one of us will withhold his tomb from you, to bury your dead there.” |
7 And Abraham stood up, and bowed himself to the people of the land, even to the children of Heth.
7 And Abraham rose up and did obeisance to the people of the land, to the sons of Chet. | 7 And Abraham rose up and did obeisance to the people of the land, to the sons of Chet. |
8 And he communed with them, saying, “If it be your mind that I should bury my dead out of my sight; hear me, and entreat for me to Ephron the son of Zohar,

Bury your dead.” | 11 “Come near me, sir, and hear me, I give to you the field and the cave which is in it; in front of all my citizens, I give to you. Bury your dead.” |

13 And he spoke to Ephron in the audience of the people of the land, saying, “But if you will give it, please, hear me: I will give you money for the field; take it of me, and I will bury my dead there.”
13 And he said to Ephrōn in the ears of the people of the land, “Since you are near me, hear me; take the money of the field from me, and I will bury my dead there.” | 13 And he said to Ephrōn in the ears of the people of the land, “Since you are near me, hear me; take the money of the field from me, and I will bury my dead there.” |

16 And Abraham listened to Ephron; and Abraham weighed to Ephron the silver, which he had named in the audience of the sons of Heth, 400 shekels of silver, current money with the merchant.

19 And after this, Abraham buried Sarah his wife in the cave of the field of Machpelah before Mamre: the same is Hebron in the land of Canaan.
