Zion’s Glory and New Name
1 For Zion’s sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem’s sake I won’t rest, until the righteousness of it go forth as brightness, and the salvation of it as a lamp that burns.
1 Because of Siōn I won’t be silent, and because of Jerousalēm I won’t relent until my righteousness goes forth like light and my salvation shall burn like a torch. | 1 Because of Siōn I won’t be silent, and because of Jerousalēm I won’t relent until my righteousness goes forth like light and my salvation shall burn like a torch. |
2 And the Gentiles shall see your righteousness, and all kings your glory; and you shall be called by a new name, which the mouth of Yahweh shall name.
2 And nations shall see your righteousness, and kings your glory, and he shall call you by your new name, which the Lord will name. | 2 And nations shall see your righteousness, and kings your glory, and he shall call you by your new name, which the Lord will name. |
3
You shall also be a crown of glory in the hand of Yahweh, and a royal diadem in the hand of your God.
3 And you shall be a crown of beauty in the hand of the Lord and a royal diadem in the hand of your God. | 3 And you shall be a crown of beauty in the hand of the Lord and a royal diadem in the hand of your God. |
4
You shall no more be termed Forsaken; neither shall your land any more be termed Desolate; but you shall be called Hephzi-bah, and your land Beulah; for Yahweh delights in you, and your land shall be married.
4 And you shall no more be called Forsaken, and your land shall not be called Desolate, for you shall be called My Will, and your land, Inhabited world. | 4 And you shall no more be called Forsaken, and your land shall not be called Desolate, for you shall be called My Will, and your land, Inhabited world; for the Lord has rejoiced in you and your land shall be populated. |
5 For as a young man marries a virgin, so shall your sons marry you; and as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, so shall your God rejoice over you.
5 And as a young man lives together in marriage with a virgin, so shall your sons dwell with you, and it shall be that in the way that a bridegroom shall rejoice over a bride, so shall the Lord rejoice over you. | 5 And as a young man lives together in marriage with a virgin, so shall your sons dwell with you, and it shall be that in the way that a bridegroom shall rejoice over a bride, so shall the Lord rejoice over you. |
6 I have set watchmen on your walls, Oh Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night: you who make mention of Yahweh, keep not silence,
6 And on your walls, Oh Jerousalēm, I have sentinels in place the entire day and the entire night, who shall never be silent, making mention of the Lord. | 6 And on your walls, Oh Jerousalēm, I have sentinels in place the entire day and the entire night, who shall never be silent, making mention of the Lord. |
7 And give him no rest, till he establish, and till he make Jerusalem a praise in the earth.
7 For there is none like you, if he should restore Jerousalēm and make it boastfullness on the land. | 7 For there is none like you, if he should restore Jerousalēm and make it boastfullness on the land. |
8 Yahweh has sworn by his right hand, and by the arm of his strength, Surely I will no more give your grain to be food for your enemies; and the sons of the stranger shall not drink your wine, for the which you have laboured.
8 The Lord has sworn by his right hand and by his mighty arm: I won’t again give your grain and your food to your enemies, and no more shall foreign sons drink your wine for which you have laboured, | 8 The Lord has sworn by his right hand and by his mighty arm: I won’t again give your grain and your food to your enemies, and no more shall foreign sons drink your wine for which you have laboured, |
9 But they who have gathered it shall eat it, and praise Yahweh; and they who have brought it together shall drink it in the courts of my holiness.
9 but those who gather shall eat them and praise the Lord, and those who gather shall drink them in my holy courts. | 9 but those who gather shall eat them and praise the Lord, and those who gather shall drink them in my holy courts. |
10 Go through, go through the gates; prepare you the way of the people; cast up, cast up the highway; gather out the stones; lift up a standard for the people.
10 Go through my gates, and make a way for my people, and toss the stones out of the way; lift up a signal for the nations. | 10 Go through my gates, and make a way for my people, and toss the stones out of the way; lift up a signal for the nations. |
11 Behold, Yahweh has proclaimed to the end of the world, Say you to the daughter of Zion, Behold, your salvation comes; behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him.
11 Look! For the Lord has made it to be heard to the end of the land: say to daughter Siōn, “Look! Your Saviour comes to you, having his own reward and work before him.” | 11 Look! For the Lord has made it to be heard to the end of the land: say to daughter Siōn, “Look! Your Saviour comes to you, having his own reward and work before him.” |
12 And they shall call them, The holy people, The redeemed of Yahweh; and you shall be called, Sought out, A city not forsaken.
12 And he shall call it a holy people, redeemed by the Lord, and you shall be called A City Sought For and Not Forsaken . | 12 And he shall call it a holy people, redeemed by the Lord, and you shall be called A City Sought For and Not Forsaken . |
