Song of Praise for God’s Favour

1 Oh Yahweh, you are my God; I will exalt you, I will praise your name; for you have done wonderful things; your counsels of old are faithfullness and truth.

1 Oh Lord, my God, I will glorify you; I will sing hymns to your name, because you have done wonderful things; an ancient, true plan.
May it be so, Lord.
1 Oh Lord, my God, I will glorify you; I will sing hymns to your name, because you have done wonderful things; an ancient, true plan.
May it be so, Lord.

2 For you have made of a city a heap; of a defenced city a ruin: a palace of strangers to be no city; it shall never be built.

2 Because you have made cities a mound, fortified cities, so their foundations might fall; the city of the ungodly won’t be built forever. 2 Because you have made cities a mound, fortified cities, so their foundations might fall; the city of the ungodly won’t be built forever.

3 Therefore shall the strong people glorify you, the city of the terrible nations shall fear you.

3 Therefore the poor people will bless you, and cities of injured men will bless you. 3 Therefore the poor people will bless you, and cities of injured men will bless you.

4 For you have been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat, when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall.

4 For you have become a helper to every humble city and a shelter to those who are discouraged because of poverty; you will rescue them from evil men; a shelter for the thirsty and breath for injured men, 4 For you have become a helper to every humble city and a shelter to those who are discouraged because of poverty; you will rescue them from evil men; a shelter for the thirsty and breath for injured men,

5 You shall bring down the noise of strangers, as the heat in a dry place; even the heat with the shadow of a cloud: the branch of the terrible ones shall be brought low.

5 blessing you like discouraged men thirsting in Siōn, from ungodly men, to whom you delivered us. 5 like discouraged men thirsting in Siōn, from ungodly men, to whom you delivered us.

6 And in this mountain shall Yahweh of armies make to all people a feast of fat things, a feast of wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the lees well refined.

6 On this mountain the Lord Sabaōth will make a feast for all nations; they will drink gladness; they will drink wine; they will anoint themselves with myrrh. 6 On this mountain the Lord Sabaōth will make a feast for all nations; they will drink gladness; they will drink wine;

7 And he will destroy in this mountain the face of the covering cast over all people, and the veil that is spread over all nations.

7 On this mountain, deliver all these things to the nations, for this plan is against all the nations. 7 they will anoint themselves with myrrh; On this mountain, deliver all these things to the nations, for this plan is against all the nations.

8 He will swallow up death in victory; and Adonai Yahweh will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people he shall take away from off all the earth; for Yahweh has spoken it.

8 After prevailing, death swallowed them up, and God has again removed every tear from every face; he has taken away the disgrace of the people from all the earth, for the mouth of the Lord has spoken. 8 After prevailing, death swallowed them up, and God has again removed every tear from every face; he has taken away the disgrace of the people from all the earth, for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.

9 And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is Yahweh; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation.

9 And they will say on that day, Look! our God, in whom we were hoping, and we were glad in our salvation, 9 And they will say on that day, Look! our God, in whom we were hoping, and we were glad and he will save us. We remained in this Lord and we will take delight in him and we were glad in our salvation,

10 For in this mountain shall the hand of Yahweh rest, and Moab shall be trodden down under him, even as straw is trodden down for the dunghill.

10 because God will give us rest on this mountain, and Mōab shall be trodden down as they tread a threshing floor with wagons. 10 because God will give us rest on this mountain, and Mōab shall be trodden down as they tread a threshing floor with wagons.

11 And he shall spread forth his hands in the midst of them, as he who swims spreads forth his hands to swim; and he shall bring down their pride together with the spoils of their hands.

11 And he will send forth his hands, as he himself brought him low to destroy him, and he will bring low his pride, things on which he laid his hands. 11 And he will send forth his hands, as he himself brought him low to destroy him, and he will bring low his pride, things on which he laid his hands.

12 And the fortress of the high fort of your walls he shall bring down, lay low, and bring to the ground, even to the dust.

12 And he will bring low the height of the refuge of your wall, and it will come down all the way to the ground. 12 And he will bring low the height of the refuge of your wall, and it will come down all the way to the ground.
