Ezekiel

1 And it happened in the sixth year, in the sixth month, in the fifth day of the month, as I sat in my house, and the elders of Judah sat before me, that the hand of Adonai Yahweh fell there on me.

1 καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τῷ ἕκτῳ ἔτει ἐν τῷ πέμπτῳ μηνὶ πέμπτῃ τοῦ μηνὸς ἐγὼ ἐκαθήμην ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ, καὶ οἱ πρεσβύτεροι Ἰούδα ἐκάθηντο ἐνώπιόν μου, καὶ ἐγένετο ἐπ’ ἐμὲ χεὶρ κυρίου,	1 Καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τῷ ἕκτῳ ἔτει ἐν τῷ πέμπτῳ μηνί, πέμπτῃ τοῦ μηνός, ἐγὼ ἐκαθήμην ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ, καὶ οἱ πρεσβύτεροι Ἰούδα ἐκάθηντο ἐνώπιόν μου, καὶ ἐγένετο ἐπ’ ἐμὲ χεὶρ Κυρίου,

2 Then I beheld, and lo a likeness as the appearance of fire: from the appearance of his loins even downward, fire; and from his loins even upward, as the appearance of brightness, as the colour of amber.

3 And he put forth the form of a hand, and took me by a lock of my head; and the spirit lifted me up between the earth and the heaven, and brought me in the visions of God to Jerusalem, to the door of the inner gate that looks toward the north; where was the seat of the image of jealousy, which provokes to jealousy.

4 And, behold, the glory of Elohim of Israēl was there, according to the vision that I saw in the plain.

5 Then said he to me, Son of man, lift up your eyes now the way toward the north. So I lifted up my eyes the way toward the north, and behold northward at the gate of the altar this image of jealousy in the entry.

5 καὶ εἶπεν πρός με υἱὲ ἀνθρώπου, ἀνάβλεψον τοῖς ὀφθαλμοῖς σου πρὸς βορρᾶν· καὶ ἀνέβλεψα τοῖς ὀφθαλμοῖς μου πρὸς βορρᾶν, καὶ ἰδοὺ ἀπὸ βορρᾶ ἐπὶ τὴν πύλην τὴν πρὸς ἀνατολάς.	5 καὶ εἶπε πρός με· υἱὲ ἀνθρώπου, ἀνάβλεψον τοῖς ὀφθαλμοῖς σου πρὸς βορρᾶν· καὶ ἀνέβλεψα τοῖς ὀφθαλμοῖς μου πρὸς βορρᾶν, καὶ ἰδοὺ ἀπὸ βορρᾶ ἐπὶ τὴν πύλην τὴν πρὸς ἀνατολάς.
5 And he said to me, “Son of man, look up with your eyes to the north.” And I looked up with my eyes to the north, and look! from the north to the gate to the east.	5 And he said to me, “Son of man, look up with your eyes to the north.” And I looked up with my eyes to the north, and look! from the north to the gate to the east.

6 He said furthermore to me, Son of man, see you what they do? Even the great abominations that the house of Israēl commits here, that I should go far off from my sanctuary? But turn you yet again, and you shall see greater abominations.

6 καὶ εἶπεν πρός με υἱὲ ἀνθρώπου, ἑώρακας τί οὗτοι ποιοῦσιν; ἀνομίας μεγάλας ποιοῦσιν ὧδε τοῦ ἀπέχεσθαι ἀπὸ τῶν ἁγίων μου· καὶ ἔτι ὄψει ἀνομίας μείζονας.	6 καὶ εἶπε πρός με· υἱὲ ἀνθρώπου, ἑώρακας τί οὗτοι ποιοῦσιν; ἀνομίας μεγάλας ποιοῦσιν ὧδε τοῦ ἀπέχεσθαι ἀπὸ τῶν ἁγίων μου, καὶ ἔτι ὄψει ἀνομίας μείζονας.
6 And he said to me, “Son of man, have you seen what these are doing? They are doing great acts of lawlessness here by keeping themselves away from my holy things. And you will see still greater acts of lawlessness.”	6 And he said to me, “Son of man, have you seen what these are doing? 7 And he brought me to the door of the court; and when I looked, behold a hole in the wall.

8 Then said he to me, Son of man, dig now in the wall; and when I had dug in the wall, behold a door.

9 And he said to me, Go in, and behold the wicked abominations that they do here.

10 So I went in and saw; and behold every form of creeping things, and abominable beasts, and all the idols of the house of Israēl, portrayed on the wall round about.

11 And there stood before them 70 men of the ancients of the house of Israēl, and in the midst of them stood Jaazaniah the son of Shaphan, with every man his censer in his hand; and a thick cloud of incense went up.

11 καὶ ἑβδομήκοντα ἄνδρες ἐκ τῶν πρεσβυτέρων οἴκου Ἰσραήλ, καὶ Ἰεζονίας ὁ τοῦ Σαφὰν ἐν μέσῳ αὐτῶν εἱστήκει πρὸ προσώπου αὐτῶν, καὶ ἕκαστος θυμιατήριον αὐτοῦ εἶχεν ἐν τῇ χειρί, καὶ ἡ ἀτμὶς τοῦ θυμιάματος ἀνέβαινεν.	11 καὶ ἑβδομήκοντα ἄνδρες ἐκ τῶν πρεσβυτέρων οἴκου Ἰσραήλ, καὶ Ἰεζονίας ὁ τοῦ Σαφὰν ἐν μέσῳ αὐτῶν εἱστήκει πρὸ προσώπου αὐτῶν, καὶ ἕκαστος θυμιατήριον αὐτοῦ εἶχεν ἐν τῇ χειρί, καὶ ἡ ἀτμὶς τοῦ θυμιάματος ἀνέβαινε.

12 Then said he to me, Son of man, have you seen what the ancients of the house of Israēl do in the dark, every man in the chambers of his imagery? For they say, Yahweh sees us not; Yahweh has forsaken the earth.

12 And he said to me, “Son of man, have you seen what the elders of the house of Israēl are doing, each of them in their hidden bedroom? Because they said, ‘The Lord doesn’t see; the Lord has forsaken the land.’ ”	12 And he said to me, “Son of man, have you seen what the elders of the house of Israēl are doing, each of them in their hidden bedroom? 13 He said also to me, Turn you yet again, and you shall see greater abominations that they do.

14 Then he brought me to the door of the gate of Yahweh’s house which was toward the north; and, behold, there sat women weeping for Tammuz.

15 Then said he to me, Have you seen this, Oh son of man? Turn you yet again, and you shall see greater abominations than these.

16 And he brought me into the inner court of Yahweh’s house, and, behold, at the door of the temple of Yahweh, between the porch and the altar, were about 25 men, with their backs toward the temple of Yahweh, and their faces toward the east; and they worshipped the sun toward the east.

16 καὶ εἰσήγαγέν με εἰς τὴν αὐλὴν οἴκου κυρίου τὴν ἐσωτέραν, καὶ ἰδοὺ ἐπὶ τῶν προθύρων τοῦ ναοῦ κυρίου ἀνὰ μέσον τῶν αἰλὰμ καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον τοῦ θυσιαστηρίου ὡς εἴκοσι ἄνδρες, τὰ ὀπίσθια αὐτῶν πρὸς τὸν ναὸν τοῦ κυρίου καὶ τὰ πρόσωπα αὐτῶν ἀπέναντι, καὶ οὗτοι προσκυνοῦσιν τῷ ἡλίῳ·	16 καὶ εἰσήγαγέ με εἰς τὴν αὐλὴν οἴκου Κυρίου τὴν ἐσωτέραν, καὶ ἰδοὺ ἐπὶ τῶν προθύρων τοῦ ναοῦ Κυρίου ἀναμέσον τῶν αἰλὰμ καὶ ἀναμέσον τοῦ θυσιαστηρίου ὡς εἴκοσι ἄνδρες, τὰ ὀπίσθια αὐτῶν πρὸς τὸν ναὸν τοῦ Κυρίου καὶ τὰ πρόσωπα αὐτῶν ἀπέναντι, καὶ οὗτοι προσκυνοῦσι τῷ ἡλίῳ·

17 Then he said to me, Have you seen this, Oh son of man? Is it a light thing to the house of Judah that they commit the abominations which they commit here? For they have filled the land with violence, and have returned to provoke me to anger: and, lo, they put the branch to their nose.

17 And he said to me. “Have you seen, son of man? Is it only a small thing for the house of Jouda to do the lawless acts that they have done here? 18 Therefore will I also deal in fury: my eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity; and though they cry in my ears with a loud voice, yet will I not hear them.
