Ezekiel

1 And the word of Yahweh came to me, saying,

2 Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israēl that prophesy, and say to those who prophesy out of their own hearts, Hear the word of Yahweh;

2 υἱὲ ἀνθρώπου, προφήτευσον ἐπὶ τοὺς προφήτας τοῦ Ἰσραὴλ καὶ προφητεύσεις καὶ ἐρεῖς πρὸς αὐτούς ἀκούσατε λόγον κυρίου	2 υἱὲ ἀνθρώπου, προφήτευσον ἐπὶ τοὺς προφήτας τοῦ Ἰσραὴλ καὶ προφητεύσεις καὶ ἐρεῖς πρὸς αὐτούς· ἀκούσατε λόγον Κυρίου.

3 Thus says Adonai Yahweh; Woe to the foolish prophets, that follow their own spirit, and have seen nothing!

4 Oh Israēl, your prophets are like the foxes in the deserts.

5 You haven’t gone up into the gaps, neither made up the hedge for the house of Israēl to stand in the battle in the day of Yahweh.

5 οὐκ ἔστησαν ἐν στερεώματι καὶ συνήγαγον ποίμνια ἐπὶ τὸν οἶκον τοῦ Ἰσραήλ, οὐκ ἀνέστησαν οἱ λέγοντες ἐν ἡμέρᾳ κυρίου·	5 οὐκ ἔστησαν ἐν στερεώματι καὶ συνήγαγον ποίμνια ἐπὶ τὸν οἶκον τοῦ Ἰσραήλ· οὐκ ἀνέστησαν οἱ λέγοντες· ἐν ἡμέρᾳ Κυρίου·

6 They have seen vanity and lying divination, saying, Yahweh says; and Yahweh hasn’t sent them; and they have made others to hope that they would confirm the word.

6 βλέποντες ψευδῆ, μαντευόμενοι μάταια οἱ λέγοντες λέγει κύριος, καὶ κύριος οὐκ ἀπέσταλκεν αὐτούς, καὶ ἤρξαντο τοῦ ἀναστῆσαι λόγον.	6 βλέποντες ψευδῆ, μαντευόμενοι μάταια, οἱ λέγοντες· λέγει Κύριος, καὶ Κύριος οὐκ ἀπέσταλκεν αὐτούς, καὶ ἤρξαντο τοῦ ἀναστῆσαι λόγον.

7 Have you not seen a vain vision, and you haven’t spoken a lying divination, whereas you say, Yahweh says it; albeit I haven’t spoken?

8 Therefore thus says Adonai Yahweh; Because you have spoken vanity, and seen lies, therefore, behold, I am against you, says Adonai Yahweh.

8 διὰ τοῦτο εἰπόν τάδε λέγει κύριος ἀνθ’ ὧν οἱ λόγοι ὑμῶν ψευδεῖς καὶ αἱ μαντεῖαι ὑμῶν μάταιαι, διὰ τοῦτο ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ ἐφ’ ὑμᾶς, λέγει κύριος,	8 διὰ τοῦτο εἰπόν· τάδε λέγει Κύριος· ἀνθ’ ὧν οἱ λόγοι ὑμῶν ψευδεῖς καὶ αἱ μαντεῖαι ὑμῶν μάταιαι, διὰ τοῦτο ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ ἐφ’ ὑμᾶς, λέγει Κύριος,
8 Therefore, say: This is what the Lord says: Because your words are false and your divinations are useless, therefore, look! 9 And my hand shall be on the prophets that see vanity, and that divine lies: they shall not be in the assembly of my people, neither shall they be written in the writing of the house of Israēl, neither shall they enter into the land of Israēl; and you shall know that I am Adonai Yahweh.

9 And I will stretch forth my hand against the prophets that see false visions, and those who utter worthless things. They shall not be involved in the instruction of my people, nor shall they be written in the record of the house of Israēl, and they shall not enter into the land of Israēl; but they shall know that I am the Lord.	9 And I will stretch forth my hand against the prophets that see false visions, and those who utter worthless things. 10 Because, even because they have seduced my people, saying, Peace; and there was no peace; and one built up a wall, and, lo, others daubed it with untempered mortar.

10 ἀνθ’ ὧν τὸν λαόν μου ἐπλάνησαν λέγοντες εἰρήνη εἰρήνη, καὶ οὐκ ἦν εἰρήνη, καὶ οὗτος οἰκοδομεῖ τοῖχον, καὶ αὐτοὶ ἀλείφουσιν αὐτόν, εἰ πεσεῖται,	10 ἀνθ’ ὧν ἐπλάνησαν τὸν λαόν μου λέγοντες· εἰρήνη εἰρήνη, καὶ οὐκ ἐστιν εἰρήνη, καὶ οὗτος οἰκοδομεῖ τοῖχον, καὶ αὐτοὶ ἀλείφουσιν αὐτόν, εἰ πεσεῖται,

11 Say to them who daub it with untempered mortar, that it shall fall: there shall be an overflowing shower; and you, Oh great hailstones, shall fall; and a stormy wind shall tear it.

12 Lo, when the wall is fallen, shall it not be said to you, Where is the daubing with which you have daubed it?

12 καὶ ἰδοὺ πέπτωκεν ὁ τοῖχος, καὶ οὐκ ἐροῦσιν πρὸς ὑμᾶς ποῦ ἐστιν ἡ ἀλοιφὴ ὑμῶν, ἣν ἠλείψατε;	12 καὶ ἰδοὺ πέπτωκεν ὁ τοῖχος, καὶ οὐκ ἐροῦσι πρὸς ὑμᾶς· ποῦ ἐστιν ἡ ἀλοιφὴ ὑμῶν, ἣν ἠλείψατε;

13 Therefore thus says Adonai Yahweh; I will even tear it with a stormy wind in my fury; and there shall be an overflowing shower in my anger, and great hailstones in my fury to consume it.

14 So will I break down the wall that you have daubed with untempered mortar, and bring it down to the ground, so that the foundation of it shall be discovered, and it shall fall, and you shall be consumed in the midst of it; and you shall know that I am Yahweh.

15 Thus will I accomplish my wrath on the wall, and on those who have daubed it with untempered mortar, and will say to you, The wall is no more, neither they who daubed it;

15 And I will expend my wrath on the wall and on those who plaster it; it shall fall. 16 Namely the prophets of Israēl which prophesy concerning Jerusalem, and which see visions of peace for her, and there is no peace, says Adonai Yahweh.

17 Likewise, you son of man, set your face against the daughters of your people, which prophesy out of their own heart; and prophesy you against them,

18 And say, Thus says Adonai Yahweh; Woe to the women that sew pillows to all armholes, and make kerchiefs on the head of every stature to hunt souls! Will you hunt the souls of my people, and will you save the souls alive that come to you?

18 καὶ ἐρεῖς τάδε λέγει κύριος οὐαὶ ταῖς συρραπτούσαις προσκεφάλαια ἐπὶ πάντα ἀγκῶνα χειρὸς καὶ ποιούσαις ἐπιβόλαια ἐπὶ πᾶσαν κεφαλὴν πάσης ἡλικίας τοῦ διαστρέφειν ψυχάς· αἱ ψυχαὶ διεστράφησαν τοῦ λαοῦ μου, καὶ ψυχὰς περιεποιοῦντο.	18 καὶ ἐρεῖς· τάδε λέγει Κύριος· οὐαὶ ταῖς συρραπτούσαις προσκεφάλαια ὑπὸ πάντα ἀγκῶνα χειρὸς καὶ ποιούσαις ἐπιβόλαια ἐπὶ πᾶσαν κεφαλὴν πάσης ἡλικίας τοῦ διαστρέφειν ψυχάς· αἱ ψυχαὶ διεστράφησαν τοῦ λαοῦ μου, καὶ ψυχὰς περιεποιοῦντο.
18 and you shall say, This is what the Lord says: Woe to those who stitch together pillows for every elbow of the arm and make scarves for every head of every maturity so as to pervert souls; the souls of my people were perverted, and they preserve their own souls.	18 and you shall say, This is what the Lord says: Woe to those who stitch together pillows for every elbow of the arm and make scarves for every head of every maturity so as to pervert souls; the souls of my people were perverted, and they preserve their own souls.

19 And will you pollute me among my people for handfuls of barley and for pieces of bread, to slay the souls that should not die, and to save the souls alive that should not live, by your lying to my people that hear your lies?

19 καὶ ἐβεβήλουν με πρὸς τὸν λαόν μου ἕνεκεν δρακὸς κριθῶν καὶ ἕνεκεν κλασμάτων ἄρτου τοῦ ἀποκτεῖναι ψυχάς, ἃς οὐκ ἔδει ἀποθανεῖν, καὶ τοῦ περιποιήσασθαι ψυχάς, ἃς οὐκ ἔδει ζῆσαι, ἐν τῷ ἀποφθέγγεσθαι ὑμᾶς λαῷ εἰσακούοντι μάταια ἀποφθέγματα.	19 καὶ ἐβεβήλουν με πρὸς τὸν λαόν μου ἕνεκεν δρακὸς κριθῶν καὶ ἕνεκεν κλασμάτων ἄρτων τοῦ ἀποκτεῖναι ψυχάς, ἃς οὐκ ἔδει ἀποθανεῖν, καὶ τοῦ περιποιήσασθαι ψυχάς, ἃς οὐκ ἔδει ζῆσαι, ἐν τῷ ἀποφθέγγεσθαι ὑμᾶς λαῷ εἰσακούοντι μάταια ἀποφθέγματα.

20 Therefore thus says Adonai Yahweh; Behold, I am against your pillows, with which you there hunt the souls to make them fly, and I will tear them from your arms, and will let the souls go, even the souls that you hunt to make them fly.

20 Therefore, this is what the Lord says: Look! 21 Your kerchiefs also will I tear, and deliver my people out of your hand, and they shall be no more in your hand to be hunted; and you shall know that I am Yahweh.

22 Because with lies you have made the heart of the righteous sad, whom I haven’t made sad; and strengthened the hands of the wicked, that he should not return from his wicked way, by promising him life.

22 ἀνθ’ ὧν διεστρέφετε καρδίαν δικαίου ἀδίκως καὶ ἐγὼ οὐ διέστρεφον αὐτὸν καὶ τοῦ κατισχῦσαι χεῖρας ἀνόμου τὸ καθόλου μὴ ἀποστρέψαι ἀπὸ τῆς ὁδοῦ αὐτοῦ τῆς πονηρᾶς καὶ ζῆσαι αὐτόν,	22 ἀνθ’ ὧν διεστρέφετε καρδίαν δικαίου ἀδίκως, καὶ ἐγὼ οὐ διέστρεφον αὐτόν, καὶ τοῦ κατισχῦσαι χεῖρας ἀνόμου τὸ καθόλου μὴ ἀποστρέψαι ἀπὸ τῆς ὁδοῦ αὐτοῦ τῆς πονηρᾶς καὶ ζῆσαι αὐτόν,

23 Therefore you shall see no more vanity, nor divine divinations; for I will deliver my people out of your hand; and you shall know that I am Yahweh.
