Ezekiel

1 Then came certain of the elders of Israēl to me, and sat before me.

1 καὶ ἦλθον πρός με ἄνδρες ἐκ τῶν πρεσβυτέρων τοῦ Ἰσραὴλ καὶ ἐκάθισαν πρὸ προσώπου μου.	1 Καὶ ἦλθον πρός με ἄνδρες ἐκ τῶν πρεσβυτέρων τοῦ λαοῦ Ἰσραὴλ καὶ ἐκάθισαν πρὸ προσώπου μου.

3 Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their heart, and put the stumbling-block of their iniquity before their face: should I be inquired of at all by them?

3 υἱὲ ἀνθρώπου, οἱ ἄνδρες οὗτοι ἔθεντο τὰ διανοήματα αὐτῶν ἐπὶ τὰς καρδίας αὐτῶν καὶ τὴν κόλασιν τῶν ἀδικιῶν αὐτῶν ἔθηκαν πρὸ προσώπου αὐτῶν· εἰ ἀποκρινόμενος ἀποκριθῶ αὐτοῖς;	3 υἱὲ ἀνθρώπου, οἱ ἄνδρες οὗτοι ἔθεντο τὰ διανοήματα αὐτῶν ἐπὶ τὰς καρδίας αὐτῶν καὶ τὴν κόλασιν τῶν ἀδικιῶν αὐτῶν ἔθηκαν πρὸ προσώπου αὐτῶν· εἰ ἀποκρινόμενος ἀποκριθῶ αὐτοῖς;
3 Son of man, these men set their thoughts on their hearts, and they placed the punishment of their injustices in front of them; am I to answer them by answering?	3 Son of man, these men have conceived their devices in their hearts, and have set before their faces the punishment of their iniquities: shall I indeed answer them?

4 Therefore speak to them, and say to them, Thus says Adonai Yahweh; Every man of the house of Israēl that sets up his idols in his heart, and puts the stumbling-block of his iniquity before his face, and comes to the prophet; I Yahweh will answer him who comes according to the multitude of his idols;

4 διὰ τοῦτο λάλησον αὐτοῖς καὶ ἐρεῖς πρὸς αὐτούς τάδε λέγει κύριος ἄνθρωπος ἄνθρωπος ἐκ τοῦ οἴκου Ἰσραήλ, ὃς ἄν θῇ τὰ διανοήματα αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τὴν καρδίαν αὐτοῦ καὶ τὴν κόλασιν τῆς ἀδικίας αὐτοῦ τάξῃ πρὸ προσώπου αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔλθῃ πρὸς τὸν προφήτην, ἐγὼ κύριος ἀποκριθήσομαι αὐτῷ ἐν οἷς ἐνέχεται ἡ διάνοια αὐτοῦ,	4 διὰ τοῦτο λάλησον αὐτοῖς καὶ ἐρεῖς πρὸς αὐτούς· τάδε λέγει Κύριος· ἄνθρωπος ἄνθρωπος ἐκ τοῦ οἴκου Ἰσραήλ, ὃς ἄν θῇ τὰ διανοήματα αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τὴν καρδίαν αὐτοῦ καὶ τὴν κόλασιν τῆς ἀδικίας αὐτοῦ τάξῃ πρὸ προσώπου αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔλθῃ πρὸς τὸν προφήτην, ἐγὼ Κύριος ἀποκριθήσομαι αὐτῷ ἐν οἷς ἐνέχεται ἡ διάνοια αὐτοῦ,

5 That I may take the house of Israēl in their own heart, because they are all estranged from me through their idols.

6 Therefore say to the house of Israēl, Thus says Adonai Yahweh; Repent, and turn yourselves from your idols; and turn away your faces from all your abominations.

6 διὰ τοῦτο εἰπὸν πρὸς τὸν οἶκον τοῦ Ἰσραὴλ τάδε λέγει κύριος κύριος ἐπιστράφητε καὶ ἀποστρέψατε ἀπὸ τῶν ἐπιτηδευμάτων ὑμῶν καὶ ἀπὸ πασῶν τῶν ἀσεβειῶν ὑμῶν καὶ ἐπιστρέψατε τὰ πρόσωπα ὑμῶν.	6 διὰ τοῦτο εἰπὸν πρὸς τὸν οἶκον τοῦ Ἰσραήλ· τάδε λέγει Κύριος Κύριος· ἐπιστράφητε καὶ ἀποστρέψατε ἀπὸ τῶν ἐπιτηδευμάτων ὑμῶν καὶ ἀπὸ πασῶν τῶν ἀσεβειῶν ὑμῶν καὶ ἐπιστρέψατε τὰ πρόσωπα ὑμῶν.

7 For everyone of the house of Israēl, or of the stranger who stays in Israēl, which separates himself from me, and sets up his idols in his heart, and puts the stumbling-block of his iniquity before his face, and comes to a prophet to inquire of him concerning me; I Yahweh will answer him by myself.

7 διότι ἄνθρωπος ἄνθρωπος ἐκ τοῦ οἴκου Ἰσραὴλ καὶ ἐκ τῶν προσηλύτων τῶν προσηλυτευόντων ἐν τῷ Ἰσραήλ, ὃς ἄν ἀπαλλοτριωθῇ ἀπ’ ἐμοῦ καὶ θῆται τὰ ἐνθυμήματα αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τὴν καρδίαν αὐτοῦ καὶ τὴν κόλασιν τῆς ἀδικίας αὐτοῦ τάξῃ πρὸ προσώπου αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔλθῃ πρὸς τὸν προφήτην τοῦ ἐπερωτῆσαι αὐτὸν ἐν ἐμοί, ἐγὼ κύριος ἀποκριθήσομαι αὐτῷ ἐν ᾧ ἐνέχεται ἐν αὐτῷ·	7 διότι ἄνθρωπος ἄνθρωπος ἐκ τοῦ οἴκου Ἰσραὴλ καὶ ἐκ τῶν προσηλύτων τῶν προσηλυτευόντων ἐν τῷ Ἰσραήλ, ὃς ἄν ἀπαλλοτριωθῇ ἀπ’ ἐμοῦ καὶ θῆται τὰ ἐνθυμήματα αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τὴν καρδίαν αὐτοῦ καὶ τὴν κόλασιν τῆς ἀδικίας αὐτοῦ τάξῃ πρὸ προσώπου αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔλθῃ πρὸς τὸν προφήτην τοῦ ἐπερωτῆσαι αὐτὸν ἐν ἐμοί, ἐγὼ Κύριος ἀποκριθήσομαι αὐτῷ ἐν ᾧ ἐνέχεται ἐν αὐτῷ.

8 And I will set my face against that man, and will make him a sign and a proverb, and I will cut him off from the midst of my people; and you shall know that I am Yahweh.

9 And if the prophet be deceived when he has spoken a thing, I Yahweh have deceived that prophet, and I will stretch out my hand on him, and will destroy him from the midst of my people Israēl.

9 καὶ ὁ προφήτης ἐὰν πλανηθῇ καὶ λαλήσῃ, ἐγὼ κύριος πεπλάνηκα τὸν προφήτην ἐκεῖνον καὶ ἐκτενῶ τὴν χεῖρά μου ἐπ’ αὐτὸν καὶ ἀφανιῶ αὐτὸν ἐκ μέσου τοῦ λαοῦ μου Ἰσραήλ.	9 καὶ ὁ προφήτης ἐὰν πλανηθῇ καὶ λαλήσῃ, ἐγὼ Κύριος πεπλάνηκα τὸν προφήτην ἐκεῖνον, καὶ ἐκτενῶ τὴν χεῖρά μου ἐπ’ αὐτόν, καὶ ἀφανιῶ αὐτόν ἐκ μέσου τοῦ λαοῦ μου Ἰσραήλ.

10 And they shall bear the punishment of their iniquity: the punishment of the prophet shall be even as the punishment of him who seeks to him;

11 That the house of Israēl may go no more astray from me, neither be polluted any more with all their transgressions; but that they may be my people, and I may be their God, says Adonai Yahweh.

12 The word of Yahweh came again to me, saying,

13 Son of man, when the land sins against me by trespassing grievously, then will I stretch out my hand on it, and will break the staff of the bread of it, and will send famine on it, and will cut off man and beast from it.

13 υἱὲ ἀνθρώπου, γῆ ἐὰν ἁμάρτῃ μοι τοῦ παραπεσεῖν παράπτωμα καὶ ἐκτενῶ τὴν χεῖρά μου ἐπ’ αὐτὴν καὶ συντρίψω αὐτῆς στήριγμα ἄρτου καὶ ἐξαποστελῶ ἐπ’ αὐτὴν λιμὸν καὶ ἐξαρῶ ἐξ αὐτῆς ἄνθρωπον καὶ κτήνη,	13 υἱὲ ἀνθρώπου, γῆ ἐὰν ἁμάρτῃ μοι τοῦ παραπεσεῖν παράπτωμα καὶ ἐκτενῶ τὴν χεῖρά μου ἐπ’ αὐτὴν καὶ συντρίψω αὐτῆς στήριγμα ἄρτου καὶ ἐξαποστελῶ ἐπ’ αὐτὴν λιμὸν καὶ ἐξαρῶ ἐξ αὐτῆς ἄνθρωπον καὶ κτήνη·

14 Though these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, they should deliver but their own souls by their righteousness, says Adonai Yahweh.

14 καὶ ἐὰν ὦσιν οἱ τρεῖς ἄνδρες οὗτοι ἐν μέσῳ αὐτῆς, Νῶε καὶ Δανιὴλ καὶ Ἰώβ, αὐτοὶ ἐν τῇ δικαιοσύνῃ αὐτῶν σωθήσονται, λέγει κύριος.	14 καὶ ἐὰν ὦσιν οἱ τρεῖς ἄνδρες οὗτοι ἐν μέσῳ αὐτῆς, Νῶε καὶ Δανιὴλ καὶ Ἰώβ, αὐτοὶ ἐν τῇ δικαιοσύνῃ αὐτῶν σωθήσονται, λέγει Κύριος.

15 If I cause noisome beasts to pass through the land, and they spoil it, so that it be desolate, that no man may pass through because of the beasts.

15 ἐὰν καὶ θηρία πονηρὰ ἐπάγω ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν καὶ τιμωρήσομαι αὐτὴν καὶ ἔσται εἰς ἀφανισμὸν καὶ οὐκ ἔσται ὁ διοδεύων ἀπὸ προσώπου τῶν θηρίων,	15 ἐὰν καὶ θηρία πονηρὰ ἐπάγω ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν καὶ τιμωρήσομαι αὐτὴν καὶ ἔσται εἰς ἀφανισμὸν καὶ οὐκ ἔσται ὁ διοδεύων ἀπὸ προσώπου τῶν θηρίων,

16 Though these three men were in it, as I live, says Adonai Yahweh, they shall deliver neither sons nor daughters; they only shall be delivered, but the land shall be desolate.

19 Or if I send a pestilence into that land, and pour out my fury on it in blood, to cut off from it man and beast.

19 ἢ καὶ θάνατον ἐπαποστείλω ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν ἐκείνην καὶ ἐκχεῶ τὸν θυμόν μου ἐπ’ αὐτὴν ἐν αἵματι τοῦ ἐξολεθρεῦσαι ἐξ αὐτῆς ἄνθρωπον καὶ κτῆνος,	19 ἢ καὶ θάνατον ἐπαποστείλω ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν ἐκείνην καὶ ἐκχεῶ τὸν θυμόν μου ἐπ’ αὐτὴν ἐν αἵματι τοῦ ἐξολοθρεῦσαι ἐξ αὐτῆς ἄνθρωπον καὶ κτῆνος,

21 For thus says Adonai Yahweh; How much more when I send my four sore judgments on Jerusalem, the sword, and the famine, and the noisome beast, and the pestilence, to cut off from it man and beast?

21 τάδε λέγει κύριος ἐὰν δὲ καὶ τὰς τέσσαρας ἐκδικήσεις μου τὰς πονηράς, ῥομφαίαν καὶ λιμὸν καὶ θηρία πονηρὰ καὶ θάνατον, ἐξαποστείλω ἐπὶ Ἱερουσαλὴμ τοῦ ἐξολεθρεῦσαι ἐξ αὐτῆς ἄνθρωπον καὶ κτῆνος	21 τάδε λέγει Κύριος· ἐὰν δὲ καὶ τὰς τέσσαρας ἐκδικήσεις μου τὰς πονηράς, ῥομφαίαν καὶ λιμὸν καὶ θηρία πονηρὰ καὶ θάνατον, ἐξαποστείλω ἐπὶ Ἱερουσαλὴμ τοῦ ἐξολοθρεῦσαι ἐξ αὐτῆς ἄνθρωπον καὶ κτῆνος

22 Yet, behold, in it shall be left a remnant that shall be brought forth, both sons and daughters: behold, they shall come forth to you, and you shall see their way and their doings; and you shall be comforted concerning the evil that I have brought on Jerusalem, even concerning all that I have brought on it.

23 And they shall comfort you, when you see their ways and their doings; and you shall know that I haven’t done without cause all that I have done in it, says Adonai Yahweh.
