False Prophets Ashamed
1 In that day there shall be a fountain opened to the house of David and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem for sin and for uncleanness.
1 In that day every place will be opened for the house of David | 1 In that day every place will be opened for the house of David and to the inhabitants of Jerusalēm for change and for separation. |
2 And it will happen in that day, says Yahweh of hosts, that I will cut off the names of the idols out of the land, and they shall no more be remembered; and also I will cause the prophets and the unclean spirit to pass out of the land.
2 And it shall be on that day, says the Lord, that I will utterly destroy the names of the idols from off the land, and there won’t be any remembrance of them any more; and I will remove the false prophets and the unclean spirit from the land. | 2 And it will happen in that day, says the Lord of hosts, that I will utterly destroy the names of the idols from off the land, and there won’t be any remembrance of them any more; and I will remove the false prophets and the unclean spirit from the land. |
3 And it will happen, that when any shall yet prophesy, then his father and his mother that fathered him shall say to him, You shall not live; for you speak lies in the name of Yahweh; and his father and his mother that fathered him shall thrust him through when he prophesies.
3 And it shall be, if a man should again prophesy, that his father and his mother who gave him birth will say to him, “You shalt not live, for you have spoken lies in the name of the Lord;” and his father and his mother who gave birth to him shall foot-bind him when he is prophesying. | 3 And it shall be, if a man should again prophesy, that his father and his mother who gave him birth will say to him, “You shalt not live, for you have spoken lies in the name of the Lord;” and his father and his mother who gave birth to him shall foot-bind him when he is prophesying. |
4 And it will happen in that day, that the prophets shall be ashamed every one of his vision, when he has prophesied; neither shall they wear a rough garment to deceive;
4 And it shall be on that day, that the prophets will be ashamed, each out of his vision when he prophesies; and they will wear hairy leather, because they lied. | 4 And it shall be on that day, that the prophets will be ashamed, each out of his vision when he prophesies; and they will wear hairy leather, because they lied. |
5 But he shall say, I am no prophet, I am a husbandman; for man taught me to keep cattle from my youth.
5 And he will say, “I am not a prophet, because I am a man who tills the land, because a man fathered me from my youth.” | 5 And he will say, “I am not a prophet, because I am a man who tills the land, because a man fathered me from my youth.” |
6 And one shall say to him, What are these wounds in your hands? Then he shall answer, Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends.
6
καὶ
ἐρῶ
τί
αἱ
ἀνὰ
τῶν
6 And I will say to him, “What are these wounds between your hands?” and he will say, “Those with which I was pierced in my beloved house.” | 6 And I will say to him, “What are these wounds between your hands?” and he will say, “Those with which I was pierced in my beloved house.” |
7 Awake, Oh sword, against my shepherd, and against the man who is my fellow, says Yahweh of hosts; smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered; and I will turn my hand on the little ones.
7 “Oh sword, awake against my shepherds, and against my fellow citizen,” says the Lord Almighty; strike the shepherds, and pull out the sheep; and I will bring my hand against the shepherds. | 7 “Oh sword, awake against my shepherds, and against my fellow citizen,” says the Lord Almighty; strike the shepherds, and pull out the sheep; and I will bring my hand against the shepherds. |
8 And it will happen, that in all the land, says Yahweh, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein.
8 And it will be in all the land, says the Lord, two parts shall be utterly destroyed and perish; but the third shall be left in it. | 8 And it will be in all the land, says the Lord, two parts shall be utterly destroyed and perish; but the third shall be left in it. |
9 And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried; they shall call on my name, and I will hear them; I will say, It is my people; and they shall say, Yahweh is my God.
9 And I will carry the third part through fire, and I will test them by fire as silver is tested, and I will prove them as gold is proved. He will call on my name, and I will hear them, and say, “This is my people;” and they shall say, “The Lord is my God.” | 9 And I will carry the third part through fire, and I will test them by fire as silver is tested, and I will prove them as gold is proved. He will call on my name, and I will hear them, and say, “This is my people;” and they shall say, “The Lord is my God.” |
