1 [LM 1:18] And Solomon determined to build a house for the name of Yahweh, and a house for his kingdom.

2 [LM 2:1] And Solomon told out 70,000 men to carry burdens, and 80,000 to hew in the mountain, and 3000 and 600 to oversee them.

3 [LM 2:2] And Solomon sent to Huram the king of Tyre, saying, As you did deal with David my father, and sent him cedars to build him a house to dwell in it, even so deal with me.

3 [LM 2:2] καὶ ἀπέστειλεν Σαλωμὼν πρὸς Χιρὰμ βασιλέα Τύρου λέγων ὡς ἐποίησας μετὰ τοῦ πατρός μου Δαυὶδ καὶ ἀπέστειλας αὐτῷ κέδρους τοῦ οἰκοδομῆσαι ἑαυτῷ οἶκον κατοικῆσαι ἐν αὐτῷ,	3 [LM 2:2] καὶ ἀπέστειλε Σαλωμὼν πρὸς Χιρὰμ βασιλέα Τύρου λέγων· ὡς ἐποίησας μετὰ Δαυὶδ τοῦ πατρός μου καὶ ἀπέστειλας αὐτῷ κέδρους τοῦ οἰκοδομῆσαι ἑαυτῷ οἶκον κατοικῆσαι ἐν αὐτῷ,

4 [LM 2:3] Behold, I build a house to the name of Yahweh my Elohim, to dedicate it to him, and to burn before him sweet incense, and for the continual showbread, and for the burnt offerings morning and evening, on the sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the solemn feasts of Yahweh our Elohim. This is an ordinance forever to Israēl.

5 [LM 2:4] And the house which I build is great; for great is our God above all gods.

6 [LM 2:5] But who is able to build him a house, seeing the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain him? who am I then, that I should build him a house, save only to burn sacrifice before him?

6 [LM 2:5] καὶ τίς ἰσχύσει οἰκοδομῆσαι αὐτῷ οἶκον; ὅτι ὁ οὐρανὸς καὶ ὁ οὐρανὸς τοῦ οὐρανοῦ οὐ φέρουσιν αὐτοῦ τὴν δόξαν. καὶ τίς ἐγὼ οἰκοδομῶν αὐτῷ οἶκον; ὅτι ἀλλ’ ἢ τοῦ θυμιᾶν κατέναντι αὐτοῦ.	6 [LM 2:5] καὶ τίς ἰσχύσει οἰκοδομῆσαι αὐτῷ οἶκον; ὅτι ὁ οὐρανὸς καὶ ὁ οὐρανὸς τοῦ οὐρανοῦ οὐ φέρουσι τὴν δόξαν αὐτοῦ. καὶ τίς ἐγὼ οἰκοδομῶν αὐτῷ οἶκον; ὅτι ἀλλ’ ἢ τοῦ θυμιᾶν κατέναντι αὐτοῦ.
6 [LM 2:5] And who will be able to build him a house? 7 [LM 2:6] Send me now therefore a man cunning to work in gold, and in silver, and in bronze, and in iron, and in purple, and crimson, and blue, and that can skill to engrave with the cunning men who are with me in Judah and in Jerusalem, whom David my father did provide.

7 [LM 2:6] καὶ νῦν ἀπόστειλόν μοι ἄνδρα σοφὸν καὶ εἰδότα τοῦ ποιῆσαι ἐν τῷ χρυσίῳ καὶ ἐν τῷ ἀργυρίῳ καὶ ἐν τῷ χαλκῷ καὶ ἐν τῷ σιδήρῳ καὶ ἐν τῇ πορφύρᾳ καὶ ἐν τῷ κοκκίνῳ καὶ ἐν τῇ ὑακίνθῳ καὶ ἐπιστάμενον γλύψαι γλυφὴν μετὰ τῶν σοφῶν τῶν μετ’ ἐμοῦ ἐν Ἰούδα καὶ ἐν Ἱερουσαλήμ, ὧν ἡτοίμασεν Δαυὶδ ὁ πατήρ μου.	7 [LM 2:6] καὶ νῦν ἀπόστειλόν μοι ἄνδρα σοφὸν καὶ εἰδότα τοῦ ποιῆσαι ἐν τῷ χρυσίῳ καὶ ἐν τῷ ἀργυρίῳ καὶ ἐν τῷ χαλκῷ καὶ ἐν τῷ σιδήρῳ καὶ ἐν τῇ πορφύρᾳ καὶ ἐν τῷ κοκκίνῳ καὶ ἐν τῇ ὑακίνθῳ καὶ ἐπιστάμενον γλύψαι γλυφὴν μετὰ τῶν σοφῶν τῶν μετ’ ἐμοῦ ἐν Ἰούδᾳ καὶ ἐν Ἱερουσαλήμ, ἃ ἡτοίμασε Δαυὶδ ὁ πατήρ μου.

8 [LM 2:7] Send me also cedar trees, fir trees, and algum trees, out of Lebanon; for I know that your servants can skill to cut timber in Lebanon; and, behold, my servants shall be with your servants,

8 [LM 2:7] καὶ ἀπόστειλόν μοι ξύλα κέδρινα καὶ ἀρκεύθινα καὶ πεύκινα ἐκ τοῦ Λιβάνου, ὅτι ἐγὼ οἶδα ὡς οἱ δοῦλοί σου οἴδασιν κόπτειν ξύλα ἐκ τοῦ Λιβάνου· καὶ ἰδοὺ οἱ παῖδές σου μετὰ τῶν παίδων μου	8 [LM 2:7] καὶ ἀπόστειλόν μοι ξύλα κέδρινα καὶ ἀρκεύθινα καὶ πεύκινα ἐκ τοῦ Λιβάνου, ὅτι ἐγὼ οἶδα ὡς οἱ δοῦλοί σου οἴδασι κόπτειν ξύλα ἐκ τοῦ Λιβάνου· καὶ ἰδοὺ οἱ παῖδές σου μετὰ τῶν παίδων μου

9 [LM 2:8] Even to prepare me timber in abundance; for the house which I am about to build shall be wonderful great.

10 [LM 2:9] And, behold, I will give to your servants, the hewers that cut timber, 20,000 measures of beaten wheat, and 20,000 measures of barley, and 20,000 baths of wine, and 20,000 baths of oil.

11 [LM 2:10] Then Huram the king of Tyre answered in writing, which he sent to Solomon, Because Yahweh has loved his people, he has made you king over them.

11 [LM 2:10] καὶ εἶπεν Χιρὰμ βασιλεὺς Τύρου ἐν γραφῇ καὶ ἀπέστειλεν πρὸς Σαλωμὼν ἐν τῷ ἀγαπῆσαι κύριον τὸν λαὸν αὐτοῦ ἔδωκέν σὲ ἐπ’ αὐτοὺς εἰς βασιλέα.	11 [LM 2:10] καὶ εἶπε Χιρὰμ βασιλεὺς Τύρου ἐν γραφῇ καὶ ἀπέστειλε πρὸς Σαλωμὼν λέγων· ἐν τῷ ἀγαπῆσαι Κύριον τὸν λαὸν αὐτοῦ ἔδωκέ σε ἐπ’ αὐτοὺς βασιλέα.

12 [LM 2:11] Huram said moreover, Blessed be Yahweh Elohim of Israēl, that made heaven and earth, who has given to David the king a wise son, endued with prudence and understanding, that might build a house for Yahweh, and a house for his kingdom.

12 [LM 2:11] καὶ εἶπεν Χιρὰμ εὐλογητὸς κύριος ὁ θεὸς Ἰσραήλ, ὃς ἐποίησεν τὸν οὐρανὸν καὶ τὴν γῆν, ὃς ἔδωκεν τῷ Δαυὶδ τῷ βασιλεῖ υἱὸν σοφὸν καὶ ἐπιστάμενον σύνεσιν καὶ ἐπιστήμην, ὃς οἰκοδομήσει οἶκον τῷ κυρίῳ καὶ οἶκον τῇ βασιλείᾳ αὐτοῦ.	12 [LM 2:11] καὶ εἶπε Χιράμ· εὐλογητὸς Κύριος ὁ Θεὸς Ἰσραήλ, ὃς ἐποίησε τὸν οὐρανὸν καὶ τὴν γῆν, ὃς ἔδωκε τῷ Δαυὶδ τῷ βασιλεῖ υἱὸν σοφὸν καὶ ἐπιστάμενον ἐπιστήμην καὶ σύνεσιν, ὃς οἰκοδομήσει οἶκον τῷ Κυρίῳ καὶ οἶκον τῇ βασιλείᾳ αὐτοῦ.

13 [LM 2:12] And now I have sent a cunning man, endued with understanding, of Huram my father’s,

14 [LM 2:13] The son of a woman of the daughters of Dan, and his father was a man of Tyre, skilful to work in gold, and in silver, in bronze, in iron, in stone, and in timber, in purple, in blue, and in fine linen, and in crimson; also to engrave any manner of engraving, and to find out every device which shall be put to him, with your cunning men, and with the cunning men of my lord David your father.

14 [LM 2:13] ἡ μήτηρ αὐτοῦ ἀπὸ θυγατέρων Δάν, καὶ ὁ πατὴρ αὐτοῦ ἀνὴρ Τύριος εἰδότα ποιῆσαι ἐν χρυσίῳ καὶ ἐν ἀργυρίῳ καὶ ἐν χαλκῷ καὶ ἐν σιδήρῳ, ἐν λίθοις καὶ ξύλοις καὶ ὑφαίνειν ἐν τῇ πορφύρᾳ καὶ ἐν τῇ ὑακίνθῳ καὶ ἐν τῇ βύσσῳ καὶ ἐν τῷ κοκκίνῳ καὶ γλύψαι γλυφὰς καὶ διανοεῖσθαι πᾶσαν διανόησιν, ὅσα ἄν δῷς αὐτῷ, μετὰ τῶν σοφῶν σου καὶ σοφῶν Δαυὶδ κυρίου μου πατρός σου.	14 [LM 2:13] (ἡ μήτηρ αὐτοῦ ἀπὸ θυγατέρων Δάν, καὶ ὁ πατὴρ αὐτοῦ ἀνὴρ Τύριος ) εἰδότα ποιῆσαι ἐν χρυσίῳ καὶ ἐν ἀργυρίῳ καὶ ἐν χαλκῷ καὶ ἐν σιδήρῳ καὶ ἐν λίθοις καὶ ξύλοις καὶ ὑφαίνειν ἐν τῇ πορφύρᾳ καὶ ἐν τῇ ὑακίνθῳ καὶ ἐν τῇ βύσσῳ καὶ ἐν τῷ κοκκίνῳ καὶ γλύψαι γλυφὰς καὶ διανοεῖσθαι πᾶσαν διανόησιν, ὅσα ἄν δῷς αὐτῷ, μετὰ τῶν σοφῶν σου καὶ σοφῶν Δαυὶδ κυρίου μου πατρός σου.

15 [LM 2:14] Now therefore the wheat, and the barley, the oil, and the wine, which my lord has spoken of, let him send to his servants.

15 [LM 2:14] καὶ νῦν τὸν σῖτον καὶ τὴν κριθὴν καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον καὶ τὸν οἶνον, ἃ εἶπεν ὁ κύριός μου, ἀποστειλάτω τοῖς παισὶν αὐτοῦ.	15 [LM 2:14] καὶ νῦν τὸν σῖτον καὶ τὴν κριθὴν καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον καὶ τὸν οἶνον, ἃ εἶπε ὁ κύριός μου, ἀποστειλάτω τοῖς παισὶν αὐτοῦ.

16 [LM 2:15] And we will cut wood out of Lebanon, as much as you shall need; and we will bring it to you in floats by sea to Joppa; and you shall carry it up to Jerusalem.

16 [LM 2:15] καὶ ἡμεῖς κόψομεν ξύλα ἐκ τοῦ Λιβάνου κατὰ πᾶσαν τὴν χρείαν σου καὶ ἄξομεν αὐτὰ σχεδίαις ἐπὶ θάλασσαν Ἰόππης, καὶ σὺ ἄξεις αὐτὰ εἰς Ἱερουσαλήμ.	16 [LM 2:15] καὶ ἡμεῖς κόψομεν ξύλα ἐκ τοῦ Λιβάνου κατὰ πᾶσαν τὴν χρείαν σου καὶ ἄξομεν αὐτὰ σχεδίαις ἐπὶ θάλασσαν Ἰόππης, καὶ σὺ ἄξεις αὐτὰ εἰς Ἱερουσαλήμ.

17 [LM 2:16] And Solomon numbered all the strangers who were in the land of Israēl, after the numbering with which David his father had numbered them; and they were found 150,000 and 3000 and 600.

17 [LM 2:16] καὶ συνήγαγεν Σαλωμὼν πάντας τοὺς ἄνδρας τοὺς προσηλύτους ἐν γῇ Ἰσραὴλ μετὰ τὸν ἀριθμόν, ὃν ἠρίθμησεν αὐτοὺς Δαυὶδ ὁ πατὴρ αὐτοῦ, καὶ εὑρέθησαν ἑκατὸν πεντήκοντα χιλιάδες καὶ τρισχίλιοι ἑξακόσιοι.	17 [LM 2:16] καὶ συνήγαγε Σαλωμὼν πάντας τοὺς ἄνδρας τοὺς προσηλύτους τοὺς ἐν γῇ Ἰσραὴλ μετὰ τὸν ἀριθμόν, ὃν ἠρίθμησεν αὐτοὺς Δαυὶδ ὁ πατὴρ αὐτοῦ, καὶ εὑρέθησαν ἑκατὸν πεντήκοντα χιλιάδες καὶ τρισχίλιοι ἑξακόσιοι.
