The Deliverance of Israēl
1 In that day Yahweh with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that is in the sea.
1 On that day, God will bring his holy and great and strong dagger against the dragon, a fleeing snake; against the dragon, a crooked snake and he will destroy the dragon. | 1 On that day, God will bring his holy and great and strong dagger against the dragon, a fleeing snake; against the dragon, a crooked snake and he will destroy the dragon. |
2 In that day sing you to her, A vineyard of red wine.
2 On that day. A beautiful vineyard; a desire to lead singing about it. | 2 On that day. A beautiful vineyard; a desire to lead singing about it. |
3 I Yahweh do keep it; I will water it every moment: lest any hurt it, I will keep it night and day.
3 I am a strong city, a besieged city; I will water it in vain, for it will be caught by night, and by day the wall will fall. | 3 I am a strong city, a besieged city; I will water it in vain, for it will be caught by night, and by day the wall will fall. |
4 Fury is not in me: who would set the briers and thorns against me in battle? I would go through them, I would burn them together.

There is not a city
that has not taken hold of it;
who will place me to watch stubble in a field?
Because of this enmity, I have set it aside.
Therefore because of this the Lord God has done all things, whatever he has ordained. I have been burned up. |

5 Or let him take hold of my strength, that he may make peace with me; and he shall make peace with me.
5 Those who dwell in it will cry out. Let us make peace with him; let us make peace! | 5 Those who dwell in it will cry out. Let us make peace with him; let us make peace! |
6 He shall cause those who come of Jacōb to take root: Israēl shall blossom and bud, and fill the face of the world with fruit.

7 Has he smitten him, as he smote those who smote him? Or is he slain according to the slaughter of those who are slain by him?
7 Will he be struck even as he himself has struck? And will he be killed even as he himself has killed? | 7 Will he be struck even as he himself has struck? And will he be killed even as he himself has killed? |
8
In measure, when it shoots forth, you will debate with it: he stays his rough wind in the day of the east wind.
8
Fighting and defaming, he will send them out.
Were you not the one who contemplated with your harsh spirit to kill them with a spirit of wrath? |

9 By this therefore shall the iniquity of Jacōb be purged; and this is all the fruit to take away his sin; when he makes all the stones of the altar as chalkstones that are beaten in sunder, the groves and images shall not stand up.
9
Because of this the lawlessness of Jakōb will be removed.
And this is his blessing, when I remove his sin, when they make all the stones of the altars broken pieces like fine dust, and their trees won’t remain, and their idols will be cut down like a forest far away. |

10 Yet the defenced city shall be desolate, and the habitation forsaken, and left like a wilderness: there shall the calf feed, and there he shall lie down, and consume the branches of it.
10 The inhabited flock will be left deserted, like a forsaken flock, and it will be for a pasture for a long time, and there they will rest. | 10 The inhabited flock will be left deserted, like a forsaken flock, and it will be for a pasture for a long time, and there they will rest. |
11 When the boughs of it are withered, they shall be broken off: the women come, and set them on fire; for it is a people of no understanding; therefore he who made them won’t have mercy on them, and he who formed them will show them no favour.

11
Then after a time there will be nothing green in it, because it will have dried up.
You women who come from a spectacle, come here! For it is not a people having understanding; therefore he who made them won’t have compassion, nor will he who formed them have mercy. |

12 And it will happen in that day, that Yahweh shall beat off from the channel of the river to the stream of Egypt, and you shall be gathered one by one, Oh you sons of Israēl.
12 And it shall be on that day that the Lord will fence them in from the canal of the river to Rhinokoroura, but as for you, gather the sons of Israēl one by one. | 12 And it shall be on that day that the Lord will fence them in from the canal of the river to Rhinokoroura, but as for you, gather the sons of Israēl one by one. |
13 And it will happen in that day, that the great trumpet shall be blown, and they shall come which were ready to perish in the land of Assyria, and the outcasts in the land of Egypt, and shall worship Yahweh in the holy mount at Jerusalem.
13 And it shall be on that day that they will trumpet with the great trumpet, and those who were lost in the country of the Assyrians and those who were lost in Aigypt will come and do obeisance to the Lord on the holy mountain at Jerousalēm. | 13 And it shall be on that day that they will trumpet with the great trumpet, and those who were lost in the country of the Assyrians and those who were lost in Aigypt will come and do obeisance to the Lord on the holy mountain at Jerousalēm. |
