Amos

1 Woe to those who are at ease in Zion, and trust in the mountain of Samaria, which are named chief of the nations, to whom the house of Israēl came!

3 You who put far away the evil day, and cause the seat of violence to come near;

5 Who chant to the sound of the viol, and invent to themselves instruments of music, like David;

8 The Adonai Yahweh has sworn by himself, says Yahweh the God of armies, I abhor the excellency of Jacōb, and hate his palaces; therefore will I deliver up the city with all that is in it.

9 And it will happen, if there remain ten men in one house, that they shall die.

11 For, behold, Yahweh commands, and he will smite the great house with breaches, and the little house with clefts.

12 Shall horses run on the rock? Will one plow there with oxen? For you have turned judgment into gall, and the fruit of righteousness into hemlock.

14 But, behold, I will raise up against you a nation, Oh house of Israēl, says Yahweh the God of armies; and they shall afflict you from the entering in of Hamath to the river of the wilderness.

14 διότι ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ ἐπεγείρω ἐφ’ ὑμᾶς, οἶκος τοῦ Ἰσραήλ, ἔθνος, καὶ ἐκθλίψουσιν ὑμᾶς τοῦ μὴ εἰσελθεῖν εἰς Ἐμὰθ καὶ ἕως τοῦ χειμάρρου τῶν δυσμῶν.	14 διότι ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ ἐπεγερῶ ἐφ’ ὑμᾶς, οἶκος Ἰσραήλ, ἔθνος, λέγει Κύριος τῶν δυνάμεων, καὶ ἐκθλίψουσιν ὑμᾶς τοῦ μὴ εἰσελθεῖν εἰς Ἐμὰθ καὶ ὡς τοῦ χειμάρρου τῶν δυσμῶν.
14 For look! I am raising up a nation against you, Oh house of Israēl, and they shall afflict you, that you may not enter Emath and as far as the stream of the west.	14 For look!
