1 And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire in it, and put incense on it, and offered strange fire before Yahweh, which he didn’t command them.

2 And there went out fire from Yahweh, and devoured them, and they died before Yahweh.

3 Then Moses said to Aaron, “This is it that Yahweh spoke, saying, ‘I will be consecrated in those who come near me, and before all the people I will be glorified.’ ” And Aaron held his peace.

3 And Moses said to Aarōn, “This is what the Lord spoke, saying, ‛Among those who are approaching me I will consecrate, and in the whole congregation I will be glorified.’ ” And Aarōn was shocked.	3 And Moses said to Aarōn, “This is what the Lord spoke, saying, ‛Among those who are approaching me I will consecrate, and in the whole congregation I will be glorified.’ ” And Aarōn was shocked.

4 And Moses called Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of Uzziel the uncle of Aaron, and said to them, “Come near, carry your brothers from before the sanctuary out of the camp.”

4 καὶ ἐκάλεσεν Μωυσῆς τὸν Μισαδαὶ καὶ τὸν Ἐλισαφὰν υἱοὺς Ὀζιὴλ υἱοὺς τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ τοῦ πατρὸς Ἀαρὼν καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς προσέλθατε καὶ ἄρατε τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς ὑμῶν ἐκ προσώπου τῶν ἁγίων ἔξω τῆς παρεμβολῆς.	4 καὶ ἐκάλεσε Μωυσῆς τὸν Μισαδάη καὶ τὸν Ἐλισαφάν, υἱοὺς Ὀζιήλ, υἱοὺς τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ τοῦ πατρὸς Ἀαρών, καὶ εἶπε αὐτοῖς· προσέλθατε καὶ ἄρατε τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς ὑμῶν ἐκ προσώπου τῶν ἁγίων ἔξω τῆς παρεμβολῆς.

5 So they went near, and carried them in their coats out of the camp; as Moses had said.

6 And Moses said to Aaron, and to Eleazar and to Ithamar, his sons, “Don’t uncover your heads, nor tear your clothes; lest you die, and lest wrath come on all the people; but let your brothers, the whole house of Israēl, bewail the burning which Yahweh has kindled.

7 And you shall not go out of the door of the tent of witness in order that you do not die, for the anointing oil from the Lord is on you. 8 And Yahweh spoke to Aaron, saying,

9 Do not drink wine nor intoxicant, you, nor your sons with you, when you go into the tent of the congregation, lest you die; it shall be a statute forever throughout your generations.

10 And that you may put difference between holy and unholy, and between unclean and clean;

11 And that you may teach the sons of Israēl all the statutes which Yahweh has spoken to them by the hand of Moses.

12 And Moses spoke to Aaron, and to Eleazar and to Ithamar, his sons who were left, “Take the food offering that remains of the offerings of Yahweh made by fire, and eat it without leaven beside the altar; for it is most holy.

12 And Moses said to Aarōn andb Eleazar and Ithamar the sons of Aarōn who remained, “Take the sacrifice that is left from the Lord’s offerings, and you shall eat it unleavened beside the altar. 13 And you shall eat it in a holy place. 14 And the wave breast and heave shoulder you shall eat in a clean place; you, and your sons, and your daughters with you; for they are your due, and your sons’ due, which are given out of the sacrifices of peace offerings of the sons of Israēl.

15 The heave shoulder and the wave breast they shall bring with the offerings made by fire of the fat, to wave it for a wave offering before Yahweh; and it shall be yours, and your sons’ with you, by a statute forever; as Yahweh has commanded.

16 And Moses diligently searched for the goat of the sin offering, and, behold, it was burned; and he was angry with Eleazar and Ithamar, the sons of Aaron which were left alive, saying,

16 And after Moses inquired and sought the goat for sin offering , this had already been burned up. 17 “Why didn’t you eat the sin offering in the holy place, seeing it is most holy, and he has given it to you to carry the iniquity of the congregation, to make atonement for them before Yahweh?

17 διὰ τί οὐκ ἐφάγετε τὸ περὶ τῆς ἁμαρτίας ἐν τόπῳ ἁγίῳ; ὅτι γὰρ ἅγια ἁγίων ἐστίν, τοῦτο ἔδωκεν ὑμῖν φαγεῖν, ἵνα ἀφέλητε τὴν ἁμαρτίαν τῆς συναγωγῆς καὶ ἐξιλάσησθε περὶ αὐτῶν ἔναντι κυρίου·	17 διατί οὐκ ἐφάγετε τὸ περὶ τῆς ἁμαρτίας ἐν τόπῳ ἁγίῳ; ὅτι γὰρ ἅγια ἁγίων ἐστί, τοῦτο ἔδωκεν ὑμῖν φαγεῖν, ἵνα ἀφέλητε τὴν ἁμαρτίαν τῆς συναγωγῆς καὶ ἐξιλάσησθε περὶ αὐτῶν ἔναντι Κυρίου·
17 “Why didn’t you eat the offering for sin in a sacred place? 18 Behold, the blood of it wasn’t brought in within the holy place; you should indeed have eaten it in the holy place, as I commanded.”

19 And Aaron said to Moses, “Behold, this day have they offered their sin offering and their burnt offering before Yahweh; and such things have befallen me; and if I had eaten the sin offering today, should it have been accepted in the sight of Yahweh?”

19 καὶ ἐλάλησεν Ἀαρὼν πρὸς Μωυσῆν λέγων Εἰ σήμερον προσαγειόχασιν τὰ περὶ τῆς ἁμαρτίας αὐτῶν καὶ τὰ ὁλοκαυτώματα αὐτῶν ἔναντι κυρίου, καὶ συμβέβηκέν μοι ταῦτα· καὶ φάγομαι τὰ περὶ τῆς ἁμαρτίας σήμερον, μὴ ἀρεστὸν ἔσται κυρίῳ;	19 καὶ ἐλάλησεν Ἀαρὼν πρὸς Μωυσῆν, λέγων· εἰ σήμερον προσαγηόχασι τὰ περὶ τῆς ἁμαρτίας αὐτῶν καὶ τὰ ὁλοκαυτώματα αὐτῶν ἔναντι Κυρίου, καὶ συμβέβηκέ μοι τοιαῦτα· καὶ φάγομαι τὰ περί τῆς ἁμαρτίας σήμερον, μὴ ἀρεστὸν ἔσται Κυρίῳ;
19 And Aarōn spoke to Moses, saying, “If today they have brought their items for sin and their whole burnt offerings before the Lord, and these things have befallen me, and if I shall eat the items for sin today, won’t it be pleasing to the Lord?”	19 And Aarōn spoke to Moses, saying, “If today they have brought their items for sin and their whole burnt offerings before the Lord, and these things have befallen me, and if I shall eat the items for sin today, won’t it be pleasing to the Lord?”

20 And when Moses heard that, he was content.
