Deuteronomy

1 “Now these are the commandments, the statutes, and the judgments, which Yahweh your Elohim commanded to teach you, that you might do them in the land to which you go to possess.

1 Καὶ αὗται αἱ ἐντολαὶ καὶ τὰ δικαιώματα καὶ τὰ κρίματα, ὅσα ἐνετείλατο κύριος ὁ θεὸς ἡμῶν διδάξαι ὑμᾶς ποιεῖν οὕτως ἐν τῇ γῇ, εἰς ἣν ὑμεῖς εἰσπορεύεσθε ἐκεῖ κληρονομῆσαι αὐτήν,	1 Καὶ αὗται αἱ ἐντολαὶ καὶ τὰ δικαιώματα καὶ τὰ κρίματα, ὅσα ἐνετείλατο Κύριος ὁ Θεὸς ἡμῶν διδάξαι ὑμᾶς ποιεῖν οὕτως ἐν τῇ γῇ, εἰς ἣν ὑμεῖς εἰσπορεύεσθε ἐκεῖ κληρονομῆσαι αὐτήν,

2 that you might fear Yahweh your Elohim, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command you, you, and your son, and your son’s son, all the days of your life; and that your days may be prolonged.

2 ἵνα φοβῆσθε κύριον τὸν θεὸν ὑμῶν φυλάσσεσθαι πάντα τὰ δικαιώματα αὐτοῦ καὶ τὰς ἐντολὰς αὐτοῦ, ὅσας ἐγὼ ἐντέλλομαί σοί σήμερον, σὺ καὶ οἱ υἱοί σου καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ τῶν υἱῶν σου πάσας τὰς ἡμέρας τῆς ζωῆς σου, ἵνα μακροημερεύσητε.	2 ἵνα φοβῆσθε Κύριον τὸν Θεὸν ὑμῶν, φυλάσσεσθαι πάντα τὰ δικαιώματα αὐτοῦ καὶ τὰς ἐντολὰς αὐτοῦ, ὅσας ἐγὼ ἐντέλλομαί σοι σήμερον, σὺ καὶ οἱ υἱοί σου καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ τῶν υἱῶν σου πάσας τὰς ἡμέρας τῆς ζωῆς σου, ἵνα μακροημερεύσητε.

3 Hear therefore, Oh Israēl, and observe to do it; that it may be well with you, and that you may increase mightily, as Yahweh Elohim of your fathers has promised you, in the land that flows with milk and honey.

3 Now hear, Oh Israēl, and be watchful to perform so that it may be well with you and that you may multiply greatly, just as the Lord, the God of your fathers, has spoken, to give you a land flowing with milk and honey.	3 Hear, therefore, Oh Israēl, and observe to do them, that it may be well with you, and that you may be greatly multiplied, as the Lord God of your fathers said that he would give you a land flowing with milk and honey; and these are the ordinances, and the judgments, which the Lord commanded the sons of Israēl in the wilderness, when they had gone forth from the land of Aigypt.

4 Hear, Oh Israēl; Yahweh our Elohim is one Yahweh.

5 And you shall love Yahweh your Elohim with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might.

6 And these words, which I command you this day, shall be in your heart.

7 And you shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up.

7 καὶ προβιβάσεις αὐτὰ τοὺς υἱούς σου καὶ λαλήσεις ἐν αὐτοῖς καθήμενος ἐν οἴκῳ καὶ πορευόμενος ἐν ὁδῷ καὶ κοιταζόμενος καὶ διανιστάμενος·	7 καὶ προβιβάσεις αὐτὰ τοὺς υἱούς σου, καὶ λαλήσεις ἐν αὐτοῖς καθήμενος ἐν οἴκῳ καὶ πορευόμενος ἐν ὁδῷ καὶ κοιταζόμενος καὶ διανιστάμενος·

8 And you shall bind them for a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.

10 And it shall be, when Yahweh your Elohim shall have brought you into the land which he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacōb, to give you great and good cities, which you didn’t build,

10 καὶ ἔσται ὅταν εἰσαγάγῃ σὲ κύριος ὁ θεός σου εἰς τὴν γῆν, ἣν ὤμοσεν τοῖς πατράσιν σου τῷ Ἁβραὰμ καὶ Ἰσαὰκ καὶ Ἰακὼβ δοῦναί σοι, πόλεις μεγάλας καὶ καλάς, ἃς οὐκ ᾠκοδόμησας,	10 Καὶ ἔσται ὅταν εἰσαγάγῃ σε Κύριος ὁ Θεός σου εἰς τὴν γῆν, ἣν ὤμοσε τοῖς πατράσι σου, τῷ Ἁβραὰμ καὶ τῷ Ἰσαὰκ καὶ τῷ Ἰακὼβ δοῦναί σοι, πόλεις μεγάλας καὶ καλάς, ἃς οὐκ ᾠκοδόμησας,

11 and houses full of all good things, which you didn’t fill, and wells dug, which you didn’t dig, vineyards and olive trees, which you didn’t plant; when you shall have eaten and be full;

11 houses full of all sorts of goods that you didn’t fill, dug wells that you didn’t dig out, vineyards and olive groves that you didn’t plant. 12 then beware lest you forget Yahweh, who brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.

13 You shall fear Yahweh your Elohim, and serve him, and shall swear by his name.

14 You shall not go after other gods, of the gods of the people which are all around you;

15 (For Yahweh your Elohim is a jealous El among you) lest the anger of Yahweh your Elohim be kindled against you, and destroy you from off the face of the earth.

15 ὅτι θεὸς ζηλωτὴς κύριος ὁ θεός σου ἐν σοί, μὴ ὀργισθεὶς θυμωθῇ κύριος ὁ θεός σου ἐν σοί καὶ ἐξολεθρεύσῃ σὲ ἀπὸ προσώπου τῆς γῆς.	15 ὅτι ὁ Θεὸς ζηλωτὴς Κύριος ὁ Θεός σου ἐν σοί, μὴ ὀργισθεὶς θυμῷ Κύριος ὁ Θεός σού σοι ἐξολοθρεύσῃ σε ἀπὸ προσώπου τῆς γῆς.
15 because God is jealous, your Lord God is with you. 16 You shall not tempt Yahweh your Elohim, as you tempted him in Massah.

17 You shall diligently keep the commandments of Yahweh your Elohim, and his testimonies, and his statutes, which he has commanded you.

18 And you shall do what is right and good in the sight of Yahweh; that it may be well with you, and that you may go in and possess the good land which Yahweh swore to your fathers,

18 καὶ ποιήσεις τὸ ἀρεστὸν καὶ τὸ καλὸν ἐναντίον κυρίου τοῦ θεοῦ ὑμῶν, ἵνα εὖ σοί γένηται καὶ εἰσέλθῃς καὶ κληρονομήσῃς τὴν γῆν τὴν ἀγαθήν, ἣν ὤμοσεν κύριος τοῖς πατράσιν ὑμῶν	18 καὶ ποιήσεις τὸ ἀρεστὸν καὶ τὸ καλὸν ἔναντι Κυρίου τοῦ Θεοῦ σου, ἵνα εὖ σοι γένηται καὶ εἰσέλθῃς καὶ κληρονομήσῃς τὴν γῆν τὴν ἀγαθήν, ἣν ὤμοσε Κύριος τοῖς πατράσιν ὑμῶν,

19 to cast out all your enemies from before you, as Yahweh has spoken.

20 And when your son asks you in time to come, saying, ‘What do the testimonies, and the statutes, and the judgments mean, which Yahweh our Elohim has commanded you?’

20 καὶ ἔσται ὅταν ἐρωτήσῃ σὲ ὁ υἱός σου αὔριον λέγων τί ἐστιν τὰ μαρτύρια καὶ τὰ δικαιώματα καὶ τὰ κρίματα, ὅσα ἐνετείλατο κύριος ὁ θεὸς ἡμῶν ἡμῖν;	20 Καὶ ἔσται ὅταν ἐρωτήσῃ σε ὁ υἱός σου αὔριον λέγων· τί ἔστι τὰ μαρτύρια καὶ τὰ δικαιώματα καὶ τὰ κρίματα, ὅσα ἐνετείλατο Κύριος ὁ Θεὸς ἡμῶν ἡμῖν;

21 Then you shall say to your son, ‘We were Pharaoh'>Pharaōh’s bondmen in Egypt; and Yahweh brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand.

22 καὶ ἔδωκεν κύριος σημεῖα καὶ τέρατα μεγάλα καὶ πονηρὰ ἐν Αἰγύπτῳ ἐν Φαραὼ καὶ ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ αὐτοῦ ἐνώπιον ἡμῶν·	22 καὶ ἔδωκε Κύριος σημεῖα καὶ τέρατα μεγάλα καὶ πονηρὰ ἐν Αἰγύπτῳ ἐν Φαραὼ καὶ ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ αὐτοῦ ἐνώπιον ἡμῶν·

23 And he brought us out from there, that he might bring us in, to give us the land which he swore to our fathers.’

24 And Yahweh commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear Yahweh our Elohim, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as it is at this day.

24 καὶ ἐνετείλατο ἡμῖν κύριος ποιεῖν πάντα τὰ δικαιώματα ταῦτα φοβεῖσθαι κύριον τὸν θεὸν ἡμῶν, ἵνα εὖ ᾖ ἡμῖν πάσας τὰς ἡμέρας, ἵνα ζῶμεν ὥσπερ καὶ σήμερον.	24 καὶ ἐνετείλατο ἡμῖν Κύριος ποιεῖν πάντα τὰ δικαιώματα ταῦτα φοβεῖσθαι Κύριον τὸν Θεὸν ἡμῶν, ἵνα εὖ ᾖ ἡμῖν πάσας τὰς ἡμέρας, ἵνα ζῶμεν ὥσπερ καὶ σήμερον.

25 And it shall be our righteousness, if we observe to do all these commandments before Yahweh our Elohim, as he has commanded us.”

25 καὶ ἐλεημοσύνη ἔσται ἡμῖν, ἐὰν φυλασσώμεθα ποιεῖν πάσας τὰς ἐντολὰς ταύτας ἐναντίον κυρίου τοῦ θεοῦ ἡμῶν, καθὰ ἐνετείλατο ἡμῖν κύριος.	25 καὶ ἐλεημοσύνη ἔσται ἡμῖν, ἐὰν φυλασσώμεθα ποιεῖν πάσας τὰς ἐντολὰς ταύτας ἐναντίον Κυρίου τοῦ Θεοῦ ἡμῶν, καθὰ ἐνετείλατο ἡμῖν.
