Ezekiel

1 The hand of Yahweh was on me, and carried me out in the spirit of Yahweh, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones,

הָיְתָה עָלַי יַד ־ יְהוָה וַיֹּוצִאֵנִי בְרוּחַ יְהוָה וַיְנִיחֵנִי בְּתֹוךְ הַבִּקְעָה וְהִיא מְלֵאָה עֲצָמֹות׃

1 καὶ ἐγένετο ἐπ’ ἐμὲ χεὶρ κυρίου, καὶ ἐξήγαγέν με ἐν πνεύματι κύριος καὶ ἔθηκέν με ἐν μέσῳ τοῦ πεδίου, καὶ τοῦτο ἦν μεστὸν ὀστέων ἀνθρωπίνων·	1 Καὶ ἐγένετο ἐπ’ ἐμὲ χεὶρ Κυρίου, καὶ ἐξήγαγέ με ἐν πνεύματι Κύριος καὶ ἔθηκέ με ἐν μέσῳ τοῦ πεδίου, καὶ τοῦτο ἦν μεστὸν ὀστέων ἀνθρωπίνων·

2 And caused me to pass by them round about: and, behold, there were very many in the open valley; and, lo, they were very dry.

וְהֶעֱבִירַנִי עֲלֵיהֶם סָבִיב סָבִיב וְהִנֵּה רַבֹּות מְאֹד עַל ־ פְּנֵי הַבִּקְעָה וְהִנֵּה יְבֵשֹׁות מְאֹד׃

2 καὶ περιήγαγέν με ἐπ’ αὐτὰ κυκλόθεν κύκλῳ, καὶ ἰδοὺ πολλὰ σφόδρα ἐπὶ προσώπου τοῦ πεδίου, ξηρὰ σφόδρα.	2 καὶ περιήγαγέ με ἐπ’ αὐτὰ κυκλόθεν κύκλῳ, καὶ ἰδοὺ πολλὰ σφόδρα ἐπὶ προσώπου τοῦ πεδίου, ξηρὰ σφόδρα.

3 And he said to me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, Oh Adonai Yahweh, you know.

וַיֹּאמֶר אֵלַי בֶּן ־ אָדָם הֲתִחְיֶינָה הָעֲצָמֹות הָאֵלֶּה וָאֹמַר אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה אַתָּה יָדָעְתָּ׃

3 καὶ εἶπεν πρός με υἱὲ ἀνθρώπου, εἰ ζήσεται τὰ ὀστᾶ ταῦτα; καὶ εἶπα κύριε, σὺ ἐπίστῃ ταῦτα.	3 καὶ εἶπε πρός με· υἱὲ ἀνθρώπου, εἰ ζήσεται τὰ ὀστέα ταῦτα; καὶ εἶπα· Κύριε Κύριε, σὺ ἐπίστῃ ταῦτα.
3 And he said to me, Son of man, will these bones live? And I said, Oh Lord God, you know this.	3 And he said to me, Son of man, will these bones live? And I said, Oh Lord God, you know this.

4 Again he said to me, Prophesy on these bones, and say to them, Oh you dry bones, hear the word of Yahweh.

וַיֹּאמֶר אֵלַי הִנָּבֵא עַל ־ הָעֲצָמֹות הָאֵלֶּה וְאָמַרְתָּ אֲלֵיהֶם הָעֲצָמֹות הַיְבֵשֹׁות שִׁמְעוּ דְּבַר ־ יְהוָה׃

4 καὶ εἶπεν πρός με προφήτευσον ἐπὶ τὰ ὀστᾶ ταῦτα καὶ ἐρεῖς αὐτοῖς τὰ ὀστᾶ τὰ ξηρά, ἀκούσατε λόγον κυρίου	4 καὶ εἶπε πρός με· προφήτευσον ἐπὶ τὰ ὀστᾶ ταῦτα καὶ ἐρεῖς αὐτοῖς· τὰ ὀστᾶ τὰ ξηρά, ἀκούσατε λόγον Κυρίου.

5 Thus says Adonai Yahweh to these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and you shall live.

כֹּה אָמַר אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה לָעֲצָמֹות הָאֵלֶּה הִנֵּה אֲנִי מֵבִיא בָכֶם רוּחַ וִחְיִיתֶם׃

5 τάδε λέγει κύριος τοῖς ὀστέοις τούτοις ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ φέρω εἰς ὑμᾶς πνεῦμα ζωῆς	5 τάδε λέγει Κύριος τοῖς ὀστέοις τούτοις· ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ φέρω ἐφ’ ὑμᾶς πνεῦμα ζωῆς

6 And I will lay sinews on you, and will bring up flesh on you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and you shall live; and you shall know that I am Yahweh.

וְנָתַתִּי עֲלֵיכֶם גִּדִים וְהַעֲלֵתִי עֲלֵיכֶם בָּשָׂר וְקָרַמְתִּי עֲלֵיכֶם עֹור וְנָתַתִּי בָכֶם רוּחַ וִחְיִיתֶם וִידַעְתֶּם כִּי ־ אֲנִי יְהוָה׃

6 καὶ δώσω ἐφ’ ὑμᾶς νεῦρα καὶ ἀνάξω ἐφ’ ὑμᾶς σάρκας καὶ ἐκτενῶ ἐφ’ ὑμᾶς δέρμα καὶ δώσω πνεῦμά μου εἰς ὑμᾶς, καὶ ζήσεσθε· καὶ γνώσεσθε ὅτι ἐγώ εἰμι κύριος.	6 καὶ δώσω ἐφ’ ὑμᾶς νεῦρα καὶ ἀνάξω ἐφ’ ὑμᾶς σάρκας, καὶ ἐκτενῶ ἐφ’ ὑμᾶς δέρμα καὶ δώσω πνεῦμά μου εἰς ὑμᾶς, καὶ ζήσεσθε· καὶ γνώσεσθε ὅτι ἐγώ εἰμι Κύριος.

7 So I prophesied as I was commanded; and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone.

וְנִבֵּאתִי כַּאֲשֶׁר צֻוֵּיתִי וַיְהִי ־ קֹול כְּהִנָּבְאִי וְהִנֵּה ־ רַעַשׁ וַתִּקְרְבוּ עֲצָמֹות עֶצֶם אֶל ־ עַצְמֹו׃

7 καὶ ἐπροφήτευσα καθὼς ἐνετείλατό μοι. καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τῷ ἐμὲ προφητεῦσαι καὶ ἰδοὺ σεισμός, καὶ προσήγαγε τὰ ὀστᾶ ἑκάτερον πρὸς τὴν ἁρμονίαν αὐτοῦ.	7 καὶ ἐπροφήτευσα καθὼς ἐνετείλατό μοι. καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τῷ ἐμὲ προφητεῦσαι καὶ ἰδοὺ σεισμός, καὶ προσήγαγε τὰ ὀστᾶ ἑκάτερον πρὸς τὴν ἁρμονίαν αὐτοῦ.

8 And when I beheld, lo, the sinews and the flesh came up on them, and the skin covered them above; but there was no breath in them.

וְרָאִיתִי וְהִנֵּה ־ עֲלֵיהֶם גִּדִים וּבָשָׂר עָלָה וַיִּקְרַם עֲלֵיהֶם עֹור מִלְמָעְלָה וְרוּחַ אֵין בָּהֶם׃

8 καὶ εἶδον καὶ ἰδοὺ ἐπ’ αὐτὰ νεῦρα καὶ σάρκες ἐφύοντο, καὶ ἀνέβαινεν ἐπ’ αὐτὰ δέρμα ἐπάνω, καὶ πνεῦμα οὐκ ἦν ἐν αὐτοῖς.	8 καὶ εἶδον καὶ ἰδοὺ ἐπ’ αὐτὰ νεῦρα καὶ σάρκες ἐφύοντο, καὶ ἀνέβαινεν ἐπ’ αὐτὰ δέρμα ἐπάνω, καὶ πνεῦμα οὐκ ἦν ἐπ’ αὐτοῖς.

9 Then said he to me, Prophesy to the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus says Adonai Yahweh; Come from the four winds, Oh breath, and breathe on these slain, that they may live.

וַיֹּאמֶר אֵלַי הִנָּבֵא אֶל ־ הָרוּחַ הִנָּבֵא בֶן ־ אָדָם וְאָמַרְתָּ אֶל ־ הָרוּחַ כֹּה ־ אָמַר אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה מֵאַרְבַּע רוּחֹות בֹּאִי הָרוּחַ וּפְחִי בַּהֲרוּגִים הָאֵלֶּה וְיִחְיוּ׃

9 καὶ εἶπεν πρός με προφήτευσον, υἱὲ ἀνθρώπου, προφήτευσον ἐπὶ τὸ πνεῦμα καὶ εἰπὸν τῷ πνεύματι τάδε λέγει κύριος ἐκ τῶν τεσσάρων πνευμάτων ἐλθὲ καὶ ἐμφύσησον εἰς τοὺς νεκροὺς τούτους, καὶ ζησάτωσαν.	9 καὶ εἶπε πρός με· προφήτευσον ἐπὶ τὸ πνεῦμα, προφήτευσον, υἱὲ ἀνθρώπου, καὶ εἰπὸν τῷ πνεύματι· τάδε λέγει Κύριος· ἐκ τῶν τεσσάρων πνευμάτων ἐλθὲ καὶ ἐμφύσησον εἰς τοὺς νεκροὺς τούτους, καὶ ζησάτωσαν.

וְהִנַּבֵּאתִי כַּאֲשֶׁר צִוָּנִי וַתָּבֹוא בָהֶם הָרוּחַ וַיִּחְיוּ וַיַּעַמְדוּ עַל ־ רַגְלֵיהֶם חַיִל גָּדֹול מְאֹד ־ מְאֹד׃ ס

10 καὶ ἐπροφήτευσα καθότι ἐνετείλατό μοι· καὶ εἰσῆλθεν εἰς αὐτοὺς τὸ πνεῦμα, καὶ ἔζησαν καὶ ἔστησαν ἐπὶ τῶν ποδῶν αὐτῶν, συναγωγὴ πολλὴ σφόδρα.	10 καὶ ἐπροφήτευσα καθότι ἐνετείλατό μοι· καὶ εἰσῆλθεν εἰς αὐτοὺς τὸ πνεῦμα, καὶ ἔζησαν καὶ ἔστησαν ἐπὶ τῶν ποδῶν αὐτῶν, συναγωγὴ πολλὴ σφόδρα.

11 Then he said to me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israēl: behold, they say, Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost: we are cut off for our parts.

וַיֹּאמֶר אֵלַי בֶּן ־ אָדָם הָעֲצָמֹות הָאֵלֶּה כָּל ־ בֵּית יִשְׂרָאֵל הֵמָּה הִנֵּה אֹמְרִים יָבְשׁוּ עַצְמֹותֵינוּ וְאָבְדָה תִקְוָתֵנוּ נִגְזַרְנוּ לָנוּ׃

11 καὶ ἐλάλησεν κύριος πρός με λέγων υἱὲ ἀνθρώπου, τὰ ὀστᾶ ταῦτα πᾶς οἶκος Ἰσραὴλ ἐστίν, καὶ αὐτοὶ λέγουσιν ξηρὰ γέγονεν τὰ ὀστᾶ ἡμῶν, ἀπόλωλεν ἡ ἐλπὶς ἡμῶν, διαπεφωνήκαμεν.	11 καὶ ἐλάλησε Κύριος πρός με λέγων· υἱὲ ἀνθρώπου, τὰ ὀστᾶ ταῦτα πᾶς οἶκος Ἰσραήλ ἔστι, καὶ αὐτοὶ λέγουσι· ξηρὰ γέγονε τὰ ὀστᾶ ἡμῶν, ἀπόλωλεν ἡ ἐλπὶς ἡμῶν, διαπεφωνήκαμεν.
11 And the Lord spoke to me, saying, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israēl; and they say, Our bones are become dry, our hope has perished, we are completely spent.	11 And the Lord spoke to me, saying, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israēl; and they say, Our bones are become dry, our hope has perished, we are completely spent.

12 Therefore prophesy and say to them, Thus says Adonai Yahweh; Behold, Oh my people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israēl.

לָכֵן הִנָּבֵא וְאָמַרְתָּ אֲלֵיהֶם כֹּה ־ אָמַר אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה הִנֵּה אֲנִי פֹתֵחַ אֶת ־ קִבְרֹותֵיכֶם וְהַעֲלֵיתִי אֶתְכֶם מִקִּבְרֹותֵיכֶם עַמִּי וְהֵבֵאתִי אֶתְכֶם אֶל ־ אַדְמַת יִשְׂרָאֵל׃ ס

12 διὰ τοῦτο προφήτευσον καὶ εἰπόν τάδε λέγει κύριος ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ ἀνοίγω ὑμῶν τὰ μνήματα καὶ ἀνάξω ὑμᾶς ἐκ τῶν μνημάτων ὑμῶν καὶ εἰσάξω ὑμᾶς εἰς τὴν γῆν τοῦ Ἰσραήλ,	12 διὰ τοῦτο προφήτευσον καὶ εἰπὸν πρὸς αὐτούς· τάδε λέγει Κύριος· ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ ἀνοίγω τὰ μνήματα ὑμῶν καὶ ἀνάξω ὑμᾶς ἐκ τῶν μνημάτων ὑμῶν καὶ εἰσάξω ὑμᾶς εἰς τὴν γῆν τοῦ Ἰσραήλ,

13 And you shall know that I am Yahweh, when I have opened your graves, Oh my people, and brought you up out of your graves,

וִידַעְתֶּם כִּי ־ אֲנִי יְהוָה בְּפִתְחִי אֶת ־ קִבְרֹותֵיכֶם וּבְהַעֲלֹותִי אֶתְכֶם מִקִּבְרֹותֵיכֶם עַמִּי׃

13 καὶ γνώσεσθε ὅτι ἐγώ εἰμι κύριος ἐν τῷ ἀνοῖξαί με τοὺς τάφους ὑμῶν τοῦ ἀναγαγεῖν με ἐκ τῶν τάφων τὸν λαόν μου.	13 καὶ γνώσεσθε ὅτι ἐγώ εἰμι Κύριος ἐν τῷ ἀνοῖξαί με τοὺς τάφους ὑμῶν τοῦ ἀναγαγεῖν με ἐκ τῶν τάφων τὸν λαόν μου.

14 And shall put my spirit in you, and you shall live, and I shall place you in your own land: then you shall know that I Yahweh have spoken it, and performed it, says Yahweh.

וְנָתַתִּי רוּחִי בָכֶם וִחְיִיתֶם וְהִנַּחְתִּי אֶתְכֶם עַל ־ אַדְמַתְכֶם וִידַעְתֶּם כִּי ־ אֲנִי יְהוָה דִּבַּרְתִּי וְעָשִׂיתִי נְאֻם ־ יְהוָה׃ פ

14 καὶ δώσω τὸ πνεῦμά μου εἰς ὑμᾶς, καὶ ζήσεσθε, καὶ θήσομαι ὑμᾶς ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν ὑμῶν, καὶ γνώσεσθε ὅτι ἐγὼ κύριος λελάληκα καὶ ποιήσω, λέγει κύριος.	14 καὶ δώσω πνεῦμά μου εἰς ὑμᾶς, καὶ ζήσεσθε, καὶ θήσομαι ὑμᾶς ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν ὑμῶν, καὶ γνώσεσθε ὅτι ἐγὼ Κύριος· λελάληκα καὶ ποιήσω, λέγει Κύριος.

15 The word of Yahweh came again to me, saying,

וַיְהִי דְבַר ־ יְהוָה אֵלַי לֵאמֹר׃

16 Moreover, you son of man, take you one stick, and write on it, For Judah, and for the sons of Israēl his companions: then take another stick, and write on it, For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and for all the house of Israēl his companions.

וְאַתָּה בֶן ־ אָדָם קַח ־ לְךָ עֵץ אֶחָד וּכְתֹב עָלָיו לִיהוּדָה וְלִבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל חֲבֵרֹו וּלְקַח עֵץ אֶחָד וּכְתֹוב עָלָיו לְיֹוסֵף עֵץ אֶפְרַיִם וְכָל ־ בֵּית יִשְׂרָאֵל חֲבֵרֹו

16 υἱὲ ἀνθρώπου, λαβὲ σεαυτῷ ῥάβδον καὶ γράψον ἐπ’ αὐτὴν τὸν Ἰούδαν καὶ τοὺς υἱοὺς Ἰσραὴλ τοὺς προσκειμένους ἐπ’ αὐτόν· καὶ ῥάβδον δευτέραν λήμψῃ σεαυτῷ καὶ γράψεις αὐτήν τῷ Ἰωσήφ, ῥάβδον Ἐφραὶμ καὶ πάντας τοὺς υἱοὺς Ἰσραὴλ τοὺς προστεθέντας πρὸς αὐτόν.	16 υἱὲ ἀνθρώπου, λαβὲ σεαυτῷ ῥάβδον καὶ γράψον ἐπ’ αὐτὴν τὸν Ἰούδαν καὶ τοὺς υἱοὺς Ἰσραὴλ τοὺς προσκειμένους ἐπ’ αὐτόν· καὶ ῥάβδον δευτέραν λήψῃ σεαυτῷ καὶ γράψεις αὐτὴν τῷ Ἰωσήφ, ῥάβδον Ἐφραὶμ καὶ πάντας τοὺς υἱοὺς Ἰσραὴλ τοὺς προστεθέντας πρὸς αὐτόν.

17 And join them one to another into one stick; and they shall become one in your hand.

וְקָרַב אֹתָם אֶחָד אֶל ־ אֶחָד לְךָ לְעֵץ אֶחָד וְהָיוּ לַאֲחָדִים בְּיָדֶךָ׃

17 καὶ συνάψεις αὐτὰς πρὸς ἀλλήλας σαυτῷ εἰς ῥάβδον μίαν τοῦ δῆσαι αὐτάς, καὶ ἔσονται ἐν τῇ χειρί σου.	17 καὶ συνάψεις αὐτὰς πρὸς ἀλλήλας σαυτῷ εἰς ῥάβδον μίαν τοῦ δῆσαι αὐτάς, καὶ ἔσονται ἐν τῇ χειρί σου.

18 And when the children of your people shall speak to you, saying, Will you not show us what you mean by these?

וְכַאֲשֶׁר יֹאמְרוּ אֵלֶיךָ בְּנֵי עַמְּךָ לֵאמֹר הֲלֹוא ־ תַגִּיד לָנוּ מָה ־ אֵלֶּה לָּךְ׃

18 καὶ ἔσται ὅταν λέγωσιν πρὸς σὲ οἱ υἱοὶ τοῦ λαοῦ σου οὐκ ἀναγγελεῖς ἡμῖν τί ἐστιν ταῦτά σοι;	18 καὶ ἔσται ὅταν λέγωσι πρὸς σὲ οἱ υἱοὶ τοῦ λαοῦ σου· οὐκ ἀναγγέλλεις ἡμῖν τί ἔστι ταῦτά σοι;

19 Say to them, Thus says Adonai Yahweh; Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israēl his fellows, and will put them with him, even with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they shall be one in my hand.

דַּבֵּר אֲלֵהֶם כֹּה ־ אָמַר אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה הִנֵּה אֲנִי לֹקֵחַ אֶת ־ עֵץ יֹוסֵף אֲשֶׁר בְּיַד ־ אֶפְרַיִם וְשִׁבְטֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל חֶבְרֹו וְנָתַתִּי אֹותָם עָלָיו אֶת ־ עֵץ יְהוּדָה וַעֲשִׂיתִם לְעֵץ אֶחָד וְהָיוּ אֶחָד בְּיָדִי׃

וְהָיוּ הָעֵצִים אֲשֶׁר ־ תִּכְתֹּב עֲלֵיהֶם בְּיָדְךָ לְעֵינֵיהֶם׃

21 And say to them, Thus says Adonai Yahweh; Behold, I will take the sons of Israēl from among the heathen, to which they be gone, and will gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land.

וְדַבֵּר אֲלֵיהֶם כֹּה ־ אָמַר אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה הִנֵּה אֲנִי לֹקֵחַ אֶת ־ בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל מִבֵּין הַגֹּויִם אֲשֶׁר הָלְכוּ ־ שָׁם וְקִבַּצְתִּי אֹתָם מִסָּבִיב וְהֵבֵאתִי אֹותָם אֶל ־ אַדְמָתָם׃

24 καὶ ὁ δοῦλός μου Δαυὶδ ἄρχων ἐν μέσῳ αὐτῶν, καὶ ποιμὴν εἷς ἔσται πάντων· ὅτι ἐν τοῖς προστάγμασίν μου πορεύσονται καὶ τὰ κρίματά μου φυλάξονται καὶ ποιήσουσιν αὐτά.	24 καὶ ὁ δοῦλός μου Δαυὶδ ἄρχων ἐν μέσῳ αὐτῶν ἔσται ποιμὴν εἷς πάντων· ὅτι ἐν τοῖς προστάγμασί μου πορεύσονται καὶ τὰ κρίματά μου φυλάξονται καὶ ποιήσουσιν αὐτά.

וְכָרַתִּי לָהֶם בְּרִית שָׁלֹום בְּרִית עֹולָם יִהְיֶה אֹותָם וּנְתַתִּים וְהִרְבֵּיתִי אֹותָם וְנָתַתִּי אֶת ־ מִקְדָּשִׁי בְּתֹוכָם לְעֹולָם׃

28 And the heathen shall know that I Yahweh consecrate Israēl, when my sanctuary shall be in the midst of them forevermore.
