1 Then Naomi her mother-in-law said to her, “My daughter, shall I not seek security for you, that it may go well for you?

2 And now is Boaz not of our kindred, with whose maidens you were? Behold, he is winnowing barley tonight on the threshing-floor.

2 And now isn’t Booz our kinsman, with whose servant girls you were? behold, on this night, he winnows barley on the threshingfloor. | 2 And now isn’t Booz our kinsman, with whose servant girls you were? behold, on this night, he winnows barley on the threshingfloor. |
3 Wash yourself therefore, and anoint yourself, and put your clothes on, and go down to the floor; but don’t reveal yourself to the man, until he has finished eating and drinking.

4 And it shall be, when he lies down, that you shall mark the place where he shall lie, and you shall go in, and uncover his feet, and lay you down; and he will tell you what you shall do.”

And he will tell you what you will do. | 4 And it will be when he lies down, you will note the place where he lies down, And you will come and uncover his feet, and will lie down. And he will tell you what you will do. |
5 And she said to her, “All that you say to me I will do.”
5 And Rhouth said to her, “All that you say, I will do.” | 5 And Rhouth said to her, “All that you say, I will do.” |
6 And she went down to the floor, and did according to all that her mother-in-law instructed her.
6 And she went down into the threshing-floor, and did according to all that her mother-in-law instructed her. | 6 And she went down into the threshing-floor, and did according to all that her mother-in-law instructed her. |
7 And when Boaz had eaten and drunk, and his heart was merry, he went to lie down at the end of the heap of grain; and she came softly, and uncovered his feet, and laid down.

8 And it happened at midnight, that the man was startled, and turned himself. And, look, a woman lay at his feet.

9 And he said, “Who are you?” And she answered, “I am Ruth your handmaid. Spread therefore your garment hem over your handmaid; for you are a redeemer.”
9
δέ,
τίς
εἶ
9 And he said, “Who are you?” and she said, “I am your servant Rhouth; wrap the corner of your robe over your servant, because you are close relative.” | 9 And he said, “Who are you?” and she said, “I am your servant Rhouth; wrap the corner of your robe over your servant, because you are close relative.” |
10 And he said, “Blessed are you of Yahweh, my daughter; for you have shown more kindness in the latter end than at the beginning, inasmuch as you didn’t follow the young men, whether poor or rich.
10 And Booz said, “You are blessed by the Lord God, daughter, because you have magnified your latter mercy more than the first by not your not going after the young men whether poor or rich.” | 10 And Booz said, “You are blessed by the Lord God, daughter, because you have magnified your latter mercy more than the first by not your not going after the young men whether poor or rich.” |
11 And now, my daughter, don’t fear; I will do to you all that you require; for all my people in the city know that you are a virtuous woman.
11 And now, daughter, don’t be afraid; all, whatever you say I will do for you; for all the tribe of my people knows that you are a strong woman. | 11 And now, daughter, don’t be afraid; all, whatever you say I will do for you; for all the tribe of my people knows that you are a strong woman. |
12 And now it is true that I am your redeemer, yet there is a redeemer closer than I.

12 And now I am truly a close relative to you; however there is a relative closer than I. | 12 And now I am truly a close relative to you; however there is a relative closer than I. |
13 Stay this night, and it shall be in the morning, that if he will perform to you the part of a redeemer, well; let him do the redeemer’s part; but if he will not do the part of a redeemer to you, then will I do the part of a redeemer to you, as Yahweh lives. Lie down until the morning.”
13 Stay the night, and when it is morning, if he will do the duties of a close relative to you, good — let him do it; but if he will not do the duties of a close relative to you, I will do the duties of a close relative to you, the Lord lives! Lie down until morning. | 13 Stay the night, and when it is morning, if he will do the duties of a close relative to you, good — let him do it; but if he will not do the duties of a close relative to you, I will do the duties of a close relative to you, the Lord lives! Lie down until morning. |
14 And she lay at his feet until the morning; and she rose up before one could know another. And he said, “Let it not be known that a woman came into the floor.”
14

14 And she lay at his feet until morning. Then she rose up before a man could know his neighbour. And Booz said, “Let it not be known that a woman came into the threshingfloor.” | 14 And she lay at his feet until morning. Then she rose up before a man could know his neighbour. And Booz said, “Let it not be known that a woman came into the threshingfloor.” |
15 Also he said, “Bring the veil that you have on you, and hold it.” And when she held it, he measured six measures of barley, and laid it on her; and she went into the city.
15

15 And he said to her, “Bring the apron that you wear;” and she held it, and he measured six of barley, and put them on her, and she went into the city. | 15 And he said to her, “Bring the apron that you wear;” and she held it, and he measured six of barley, and put them on her, and she went into the city. |
16 And when she came to her mother-in-law, she said, “Who are you, my daughter?” And she told her all that the man had done to her.
16 And Rhouth went in to her mother-in-law, and she said to her, “Who are you, daughter?” and she told her all that the man had done for her. | 16 And Rhouth went in to her mother-in-law, and she said to her, “Daughter.” and she told her all that the man had done for her. |
17 And she said, “These six measures of barley gave he me; for he said to me, ‘Go not empty to your mother-in-law.’”
17 And she said to her, “He gave me these six of barley, because he said to me, ‛Don’t go empty to your mother-in-law.’ ” | 17 And she said to her, “He gave me these six of barley, because he said to me, ‛Don’t go empty to your mother-in-law.’ ” |
18 Then she said, Sit still, my daughter, until you know how the matter will turn out; for the man will not have rest, until he has finished the thing today.
18 And she said, “Sit, daughter, until you know how not a thing will fall apart; for the man won’t rest until the thing is finished this day.” | 18 And she said, “Sit, daughter, until you know how not a thing will fall apart; for the man won’t rest until the thing is finished this day.” |
