5 Then Boaz said to his servant who was in charge of the reapers, “Whose damsel is this?”
5 And Booz said to his servant who was put in charge over the reapers, “Of whom is this young woman?” | 5 And Booz said to his servant who was put in charge over the reapers, “Of whom is this young woman?” |
6 And the servant who was in charge of the reapers answered and said, “It is the Moabitish damsel that came back with Naomi out of the country of Moab.
6 And his servant who was in charge over the reapers answered and said, “It is the Moabitess who returned with Nōemi out of the field of Mōab. | 6 And his servant who was in charge over the reapers answered and said, “It is the Moabitess who returned with Nōemi out of the field of Mōab. |
7 And she said, ‘Please, let me glean and gather after the reapers among the sheaves.’ So she came, and has continued from the morning until now, although she rested a little in the house.

8 Then Boaz said to Ruth, “Didn’t you hear, my daughter? Don’t go to glean in another field, nor go from here, but stay here close by my maidens.

8 And Booz said to Rhouth, “Do you hear, my daughter? Don’t go in a different field to glean, and don’t go from here. Join with my girls here. | 8 And Booz said to Rhouth, “Do you hear, my daughter? Don’t go in a different field to glean, and don’t go from here. Join with my girls here. |
9 Let your eyes be on the field that they reap, and follow after them. I charged the young men that they shall not touch you, haven’t I? And when you are thirsty, go to the vessels, and drink from what the young men draw.”

And when you are thirsty, go to the supplies and drink from whatever the young servants have drawn.” | 9 Keep your eyes on the field wherever they reap, and follow behind them. Behold, I have instructed the young servants not to touch you. And when you are thirsty, go to the supplies and drink from whatever the young servants have drawn.” |
10 Then she fell on her face, and bowed herself to the ground, and said to him, “Why have I found grace in your eyes, that you should take notice of me, since I am a foreigner?”

10 And she fell on her face, and did reverence on the ground, and said to him, “Why have I found favour in your eyes that I am noticed? I am a foreigner.” | 10 And she fell on her face, and did reverence on the ground, and said to him, “Why have I found favour in your eyes that I am noticed? I am a foreigner.” |
11 And Boaz answered and said to her, “It has been fully revealed to me, all that you have done to your mother-in-law since the death of your husband; and how you have left your father and your mother, and the land of your nativity, and have come to a people whom you didn’t know before.
11 And Booz answered and said to her, “In reporting, it is reported to me what you did with your mother-in-law after the death of your husband; and how you left your father and your mother, and the land of your birth, and came to a people whom didn’t know yesterday or the day before. | 11 And Booz answered and said to her, “In reporting, it is reported to me what you did with your mother-in-law after the death of your husband; and how you left your father and your mother, and the land of your birth, and came to a people whom didn’t know yesterday or the day before. |
12 May Yahweh repay your work, and a full reward be given to you of Yahweh Elohim of Israēl, under whose wings you have come to trust.”

13 Then she said, “Let me find favour in your sight, my lord; for you have comforted me, and because you have spoken kindly to your maidservant, though I am not like one of your maidservants.”
13 And she said, “Let me find favour in your eyes, my lord, because you have encouraged me, and because you have spoken to the heart of your servant, and behold, I shall be as one of your servant girls.” | 13 And she said, “Let me find favour in your eyes, my lord, because you have encouraged me, and because you have spoken to the heart of your servant, and behold, I shall be as one of your servant girls.” |
14 And Boaz said to her, “At mealtime come here, and eat of the bread, and dip your morsel in the vinegar.” And she sat beside the reapers; and he gave her toasted grain, and she ate, and was satisfied, and had some surplus.

14 And Booz said to her, “Now it is time to eat; come here, and you shall eat of the bread, and you shall dip your morsel in the weak wine.” and Rhouth sat beside the reapers; and Booz piled up barley, and she ate, and was satisfied, and left. | 14 And Booz said to her, “Now it is time to eat; come here, and you shall eat of the bread, and you shall dip your morsel in the weak wine.” and Rhouth sat beside the reapers; and Booz piled up barley, and she ate, and was satisfied, and left. |
15 And when she rose up to glean, Boaz commanded his young men, saying, “Let her glean even among the sheaves, and don’t tease her.

16 Also let some of the handfuls fall on purpose for her, and leave them, that she may glean them, and don’t rebuke her.”

17 So she gleaned in the field until evening, and beat out what she had gleaned; and it was about an ephah of barley.
