Ruth

1 And Naomi had a kinsman of her husband’s, a mighty man of wealth, of the family of Elimelech; and his name was Boaz.

2 And Ruth the Moabitess said to Naomi, “Let me now go to the field, and glean ears of grain after him in whose sight I shall find grace.” And she said to her, “Go, my daughter.”

4 And suddenly, Boaz came from Bethlehem, and said to the reapers, “May Yahweh be with you.” And they answered him, “May Yahweh bless you.”

7 And she said, ‘Please, let me glean and gather after the reapers among the sheaves.’ So she came, and has continued from the morning until now, although she rested a little in the house.

8 Then Boaz said to Ruth, “Didn’t you hear, my daughter? Don’t go to glean in another field, nor go from here, but stay here close by my maidens.

10 Then she fell on her face, and bowed herself to the ground, and said to him, “Why have I found grace in your eyes, that you should take notice of me, since I am a foreigner?”

11 And Boaz answered and said to her, “It has been fully revealed to me, all that you have done to your mother-in-law since the death of your husband; and how you have left your father and your mother, and the land of your nativity, and have come to a people whom you didn’t know before.

13 Then she said, “Let me find favour in your sight, my lord; for you have comforted me, and because you have spoken kindly to your maidservant, though I am not like one of your maidservants.”

14 And Boaz said to her, “At mealtime come here, and eat of the bread, and dip your morsel in the vinegar.” And she sat beside the reapers; and he gave her toasted grain, and she ate, and was satisfied, and had some surplus.

18 And she carried it, and went into the city. And her mother-in-law saw what she had gleaned and what she brought. And she gave to her the surplus of toasted grain that she had reserved after she was satisfied.

19 And her mother-in-law said to her, “Where have you gleaned today? And where did you work? Blessed be he who took knowledge of you.” And she showed her mother-in-law with whom she had worked, and said, “The man’s name with whom I worked today is Boaz.”

20 And Naomi said to her daughter-in-law, “Blessed be he of Yahweh, who has not forsaken his kindness to the living and to the dead.” And Naomi said to her, “The man is a close relative to us, one of our redeemers.”

21 And Ruth the Moabitess said, “He said to me also, ‘Follow close to my young men, until they have finished all my harvest.’”

21 καὶ εἶπεν Ῥοὺθ πρὸς τὴν πενθερὰν αὐτῆς, καὶ γε ὅτι εἶπεν πρός με μετὰ τῶν παιδαρίων μου προσκολλήθητι, ἕως ἄν τελέσωσιν ὅλον τὸν ἀμητόν, ὃς ὑπάρχει μοι.	21 καὶ εἶπε Ῥοὺθ πρὸς τὴν πενθερὰν αὐτῆς· καί γε ὅτι εἶπε πρός με· μετὰ τῶν κορασίων τῶν ἐμῶν προσκολλήθητι ἕως ἄν τελέσωσιν ὅλον τὸν ἀμητόν, ὃς ὑπάρχει μοι.

22 And Naomi said to Ruth her daughter-in-law, “It is good, my daughter, that you go out with his maidens, that they don’t meet you in any other field.”

22 Καὶ εἶπεν Νωεμὶν πρὸς Ῥοὺθ τὴν νύμφην αὐτῆς, ἀγαθόν, θύγατερ, ὅτι ἐπορεύθης μετὰ τῶν κορασίων αὐτοῦ, καὶ οὐκ ἀπαντήσονταί σοί ἐν ἀγρῷ ἑτέρῳ.	22 καὶ εἶπε Νωεμὶν πρὸς Ῥοὺθ τὴν νύμφην αὐτῆς· ἀγαθόν, θύγατερ, ὅτι ἐξῆλθες μετὰ τῶν κορασίων αὐτοῦ, καὶ οὐκ ἀπαντήσονταί σοι ἐν ἀγρῷ ἑτέρῳ.

23 καὶ προσεκολλήθη Ῥοὺθ τοῖς κορασίοις Βοὸζ συλλέγειν ἕως οὗ συνετέλεσεν τὸν θερισμὸν τῶν κριθῶν καὶ τῶν πυρῶν. καὶ ἐκάθισεν μετὰ τῆς πενθερᾶς αὐτῆς.	23 καὶ προσεκολλήθη Ῥοὺθ τοῖς κορασίοις τοῦ Βοὸζ τοῦ συλλέγειν ἕως τοῦ συντελέσαι τὸν θερισμὸν τῶν κριθῶν καὶ τῶν πυρῶν.
