1 Now Jehoshaphat had riches and honour in abundance, and joined affinity with Ahab.

2 And after certain years he went down to Ahab to Samaria. And Ahab killed sheep and oxen for him in abundance, and for the people that he had with him, and persuaded him to go up with him to Ramoth-gilead.

3 And Ahab king of Israēl said to Jehoshaphat king of Judah, Will you go with me to Ramoth-gilead? And he answered him, I am as you are, and my people as your people; and we will be with you in the war.

3 And Achaab king of Israēl said to Josaphat king of Jouda, Will you go with me to Ramoth of the country of Galaad? 4 And Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israēl, Inquire, please, at the word of Yahweh today.

5 Therefore the king of Israēl gathered together of prophets 400 men, and said to them, Shall we go to Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up; for God will deliver it into the king’s hand.

5 καὶ συνήγαγεν ὁ βασιλεὺς Ἰσραὴλ τοὺς προφήτας, τετρακοσίους ἄνδρας, καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς εἰ πορευθῶ εἰς Ῥαμὼθ Γαλαὰδ εἰς πόλεμον ἢ ἐπίσχω; καὶ εἶπαν ἀνάβαινε, καὶ δώσει ὁ θεὸς εἰς τὰς χεῖρας τοῦ βασιλέως.	5 καὶ συνήγαγεν ὁ βασιλεὺς Ἰσραὴλ τοὺς προφήτας τετρακοσίους ἄνδρας καὶ εἶπε αὐτοῖς· εἰ πορευθῶ εἰς Ῥαμὼθ Γαλαὰδ εἰς πόλεμον ἢ ἐπίσχω; καὶ εἶπαν· ἀνάβαινε, καὶ δώσει ὁ Θεὸς εἰς τὰς χεῖρας τοῦ βασιλέως.

6 But Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of Yahweh besides, that we might inquire of him?

7 And the king of Israēl said to Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man, by whom we may inquire of Yahweh; but I hate him; for he never prophesied good to me, but always evil: the same is Micaiah the son of Imla. And Jehoshaphat said, Don’t let the king say so.

8 And the king of Israēl called for one of his officers, and said, Fetch quickly Micaiah the son of Imla.

9 And the king of Israēl and Jehoshaphat king of Judah sat either of them on his throne, clothed in their robes, and they sat in a void place at the entering in of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets prophesied before them.

9 καὶ βασιλεὺς Ἰσραὴλ καὶ Ἰωσαφὰτ βασιλεὺς Ἰούδα καθήμενοι ἕκαστος ἐπὶ θρόνου αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐνδεδυμένοι στολὰς καθήμενοι ἐν τῷ εὐρυχώρῳ θύρας πύλης Σαμαρείας, καὶ πάντες οἱ προφῆται ἐπροφήτευον ἐναντίον αὐτῶν.	9 καὶ βασιλεὺς Ἰσραὴλ καὶ Ἰωσαφὰτ βασιλεὺς Ἰούδα καθήμενοι ἕκαστος ἐπὶ θρόνου αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐνδεδυμένοι στολάς, καθήμενοι ἐν τῷ εὐρυχώρῳ θύρας πύλης Σαμαρείας, καὶ πάντες οἱ προφῆται ἐπροφήτευον ἐναντίον αὐτῶν.

10 And Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah had made him horns of iron, and said, Thus says Yahweh, With these you shall push Syria until they be consumed.

11 And all the prophets prophesied so, saying, Go up to Ramoth-gilead, and prosper; for Yahweh shall deliver it into the hand of the king.

12 And the messenger that went to call Micaiah spoke to him, saying, Behold, the words of the prophets declare good to the king with one assent; let your word therefore, please, be like one of theirs, and speak you good.

12 καὶ ὁ ἄγγελος ὁ πορευθεὶς τοῦ καλέσαι τὸν Μιχαίαν ἐλάλησεν αὐτῷ λέγων ἰδοὺ ἐλάλησαν οἱ προφῆται ἐν στόματι ἑνὶ ἀγαθὰ περὶ τοῦ βασιλέως, καὶ ἔστωσαν δὴ οἱ λόγοι σου ὡς ἑνὸς αὐτῶν, καὶ λαλήσεις ἀγαθά.	12 καὶ ὁ ἄγγελος ὁ πορευθεὶς τοῦ καλέσαι τὸν Μιχαίαν ἐλάλησεν αὐτῷ λέγων· ἰδοὺ ἐλάλησαν οἱ προφῆται ἐν στόματι ἑνὶ ἀγαθὰ περὶ τοῦ βασιλέως, καὶ ἔστωσαν δὴ οἱ λόγοι σου ὡς ἑνὸς αὐτῶν, καὶ λαλήσεις ἀγαθά.

13 And Micaiah said, As Yahweh lives, even what my God says, that will I speak.

14 And he came to the king, and the king said to him, Michaias, shall I go up to Ramoth Galaad to battle, or shall I forbear? 15 And the king said to him, How many times shall I adjure you who you don’t say anything but the truth to me in the name of Yahweh?

15 καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ ὁ βασιλεύς ποσάκις ὁρκίζω σὲ ἵνα μὴ λαλήσῃς πρός με πλὴν ἀλήθειαν ἐν ὀνόματι κυρίου;	15 καὶ εἶπε αὐτῷ ὁ βασιλεύς· ποσάκις ὁρκίζω σε ἵνα μὴ λαλήσῃς πρός με πλὴν τὴν ἀλήθειαν ἐν ὀνόματι Κυρίου;

16 Then he said, I saw all Israēl scattered on the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd; and Yahweh said, These have no master; let them return therefore every man to his house in peace.

16 καὶ εἶπεν εἶδον τὸν Ἰσραὴλ διεσπαρμένους ἐν τοῖς ὄρεσιν ὡς πρόβατα οἷς οὐκ ἔστιν ποιμήν, καὶ εἶπεν κύριος οὐκ ἔχουσιν ἡγούμενον, ἀναστρεφέτωσαν ἕκαστος εἰς τὸν οἶκον αὐτοῦ ἐν εἰρήνῃ.	16 καὶ εἶπε· εἶδον τὸν Ἰσραὴλ διεσπαρμένους ἐν τοῖς ὄρεσιν ὡς πρόβατα, οἷς οὐκ ἔστι ποιμήν, καὶ εἶπε Κύριος· οὐκ ἔχουσιν ἡγούμενον οὗτοι, ἀναστρεφέτωσαν ἕκαστος εἰς τὸν οἶκον αὐτοῦ ἐν εἰρήνῃ.

17 And the king of Israēl said to Jehoshaphat, Didn’t I tell you who he would not prophesy good to me, but evil?

18 Again he said, Therefore hear the word of Yahweh; I saw Yahweh sitting on his throne, and all the army of heaven standing on his right hand and on his left.

18 καὶ εἶπεν οὐχ οὕτως, ἀκούσατε λόγον κυρίου· εἶδον τὸν κύριον καθήμενον ἐπὶ θρόνου αὐτοῦ, καὶ πᾶσα δύναμις τοῦ οὐρανοῦ εἱστήκει ἐκ δεξιῶν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐξ ἀριστερῶν αὐτοῦ.	18 καὶ εἶπε· οὐχ οὕτως· ἀκούσατε λόγον Κυρίου· εἶδον τὸν Κύριον καθήμενον ἐπὶ θρόνου αὐτοῦ, καὶ πᾶσα δύναμις τοῦ οὐρανοῦ παρειστήκει ἐκ δεξιῶν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐξ ἀριστερῶν αὐτοῦ.
18 But he said, Not so. Hear the word of the Lord: I saw the Lord sitting on his throne, and all the army of heaven stood by on his right hand and on his left.	18 But he said, Not so. 19 And Yahweh said, Who shall entice Ahab king of Israēl, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth-gilead? And one spoke saying after this manner, and another saying after that manner.

19 καὶ εἶπεν κύριος τίς ἀπατήσει τὸν Ἀχαὰβ βασιλέα Ἰσραὴλ καὶ ἀναβήσεται καὶ πεσεῖται ἐν Ῥαμὼθ Γαλαάδ; καὶ εἶπεν οὗτος οὕτως, καὶ οὗτος εἶπεν οὕτως.	19 καὶ εἶπε Κύριος· τίς ἀπατήσει τὸν Ἀχαὰβ βασιλέα Ἰσραὴλ καὶ ἀναβήσεται καὶ πεσεῖται ἐν Ῥαμὼθ Γαλαάδ; καὶ οὗτος εἶπε οὕτως, καὶ οὗτος εἶπε οὕτως.
19 And the Lord said, Who will deceive Achaab king of Israēl, that he may go up, and fall in Ramoth Galaad? 20 Then there came out a spirit, and stood before Yahweh, and said, I will entice him. And Yahweh said to him, with which?

20 καὶ ἐξῆλθεν τὸ πνεῦμα καὶ ἔστη ἐνώπιον κυρίου καὶ εἶπεν ἐγὼ ἀπατήσω αὐτόν. καὶ εἶπεν κύριος ἐν τίνι;	20 καὶ ἐξῆλθε τὸ πνεῦμα καὶ ἔστη ἐνώπιον Κυρίου καὶ εἶπε· ἐγὼ ἀπατήσω αὐτόν. καὶ εἶπε Κύριος· ἐν τίνι;

21 And he said, I will go out, and be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And Yahweh said, You shall entice him, and you shall also prevail: go out, and do even so.

21 καὶ εἶπεν ἐξελεύσομαι καὶ ἔσομαι πνεῦμα ψευδὲς ἐν στόματι πάντων τῶν προφητῶν αὐτοῦ. καὶ εἶπεν ἀπατήσεις καὶ δυνήσῃ, ἔξελθε καὶ ποίησον οὕτως.	21 καὶ εἶπε· ἐξελεύσομαι καὶ ἔσομαι πνεῦμα ψευδὲς ἐν στόματι πάντων τῶν προφητῶν αὐτοῦ. καὶ εἶπε· ἀπατήσεις καὶ δυνήσῃ, ἔξελθε καὶ ποίησον οὕτω.
21 And he said, I will go forth, and will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And the Lord said, You shall deceive him, and shall prevail: go forth, and do so.	21 And he said, I will go forth, and will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. 22 Now therefore, behold, Yahweh has put a lying spirit in the mouth of these your prophets, and Yahweh has spoken evil against you.

23 Then Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah came near, and smote Micaiah on the cheek, and said, Which way went the Spirit of Yahweh from me to speak to you?

28 So the king of Israēl and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramoth-gilead.

30 Now the king of Syria had commanded the captains of the chariots who were with him, saying, Fight you not with small or great, save only with the king of Israēl.

31 And it came to be, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, It is the king of Israēl. Therefore they surrounded about him to fight; but Jehoshaphat cried out, and Yahweh helped him; and God moved them to depart from him.

33 And a certain man drew a bow at a venture, and smote the king of Israēl between the joints of the harness; therefore he said to his chariot man, Turn your hand, that you may carry me out of the army; for I am wounded.

34 And the battle increased that day: however the king of Israēl stayed himself up in his chariot against the Syrians until the evening; and about the time of the sun going down he died.
