Deuteronomy

1 “And it shall be, when you have come into the land which Yahweh your Elohim gives you for an inheritance, and possess it, and dwell in it;

1 Καὶ ἔσται ἐὰν εἰσέλθῃς εἰς τὴν γῆν, ἣν κύριος ὁ θεός σου δίδωσίν σοί ἐν κλήρῳ, καὶ κατακληρονομήσῃς αὐτὴν καὶ κατοικήσῃς ἐπ’ αὐτῆς,	1 Καὶ ἔσται ἐὰν εἰσέλθῃς εἰς τὴν γῆν, ἣν Κύριος ὁ Θεός σου δίδωσί σοι κληρονομῆσαι, καὶ κατακληρονομήσῃς αὐτὴν καὶ κατοικήσῃς ἐπ’ αὐτῆς,

3 And you shall go to the priest who shall be in those days, and say to him, ‘I profess this day to Yahweh your Elohim, that I am come to the country which Yahweh swore to our fathers to give us.’

4 And the priest shall take the basket out of your hand, and set it down before the altar of Yahweh your Elohim.

5 And you shall speak and say before Yahweh your Elohim, ‘A Syrian ready to perish was my father, and he went down into Egypt, and stayed there with a few, and became there a nation, great, mighty, and populous.

5 καὶ ἀποκριθήσῃ καὶ ἐρεῖς ἔναντι κυρίου τοῦ θεοῦ σου Συρίαν ἀπέβαλεν ὁ πατήρ μου καὶ κατέβη εἰς Αἴγυπτον καὶ παρῴκησεν ἐκεῖ ἐν ἀριθμῷ βραχεῖ καὶ ἐγένετο ἐκεῖ εἰς ἔθνος μέγα καὶ πλῆθος πολὺ καὶ μέγα·	5 καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς ἐρεῖς ἔναντι Κυρίου τοῦ Θεοῦ σου· Συρίαν ἀπέβαλεν ὁ πατήρ μου καὶ κατέβη εἰς Αἴγυπτον καὶ παρῴκησεν ἐκεῖ ἐν ἀριθμῷ βραχεῖ καὶ ἐγένετο ἐκεῖ εἰς ἔθνος μέγα καὶ πλῆθος πολύ·

7 καὶ ἀνεβοήσαμεν πρὸς κύριον τὸν θεὸν τῶν πατέρων ἡμῶν, καὶ εἰσήκουσεν κύριος τῆς φωνῆς ἡμῶν καὶ εἶδεν τὴν ταπείνωσιν ἡμῶν καὶ τὸν μόχθον ἡμῶν καὶ τὸν θλιμμὸν ἡμῶν·	7 καὶ ἀνεβοήσαμεν πρὸς Κύριον τὸν Θεὸν ἡμῶν, καὶ εἰσήκουσε Κύριος τῆς φωνῆς ἡμῶν καὶ εἶδε τὴν ταπείνωσιν ἡμῶν καὶ τὸν μόχθον ἡμῶν καὶ τὸν θλιμμὸν ἡμῶν·

8 And Yahweh brought us forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand, and with an outstretched arm, and with great fear, with signs, and with miracles.

8 καὶ ἐξήγαγεν ἡμᾶς κύριος ἐξ Αἰγύπτου αὐτὸς ἐν ἰσχύϊ μεγάλῃ καὶ ἐν χειρὶ κραταιᾷ καὶ ἐν βραχίονι αὐτοῦ τῷ ὑψηλῷ καὶ ἐν ὁράμασιν μεγάλοις καὶ ἐν σημείοις καὶ ἐν τέρασιν	8 καὶ ἐξήγαγεν ἡμᾶς Κύριος ἐξ Αἰγύπτου αὐτὸς ἐν ἰσχύϊ αὐτοῦ τῇ μεγάλῃ καὶ ἐν χειρὶ κραταιᾷ καὶ βραχίονι ὑψηλῷ καὶ ἐν ὁράμασι μεγάλοις καὶ ἐν σημείοις καὶ ἐν τέρασι

10 And now, behold, I have brought the firstfruits of the land, which you, Oh Yahweh, have given me.’ And you shall set it before Yahweh your Elohim, and worship before Yahweh your Elohim.

10 And now look! 11 And you shall rejoice in every good thing which Yahweh your Elohim has given to you, and to your house, you, and the Levite, and the stranger who is among you.

11 καὶ εὐφρανθήσῃ ἐν πᾶσιν τοῖς ἀγαθοῖς, οἷς ἔδωκέν σοί κύριος ὁ θεός σου καὶ τῇ οἰκίᾳ σου, σὺ καὶ ὁ Λευίτης καὶ ὁ προσήλυτος ὁ ἐν σοί.	11 καὶ εὐφρανθήσῃ ἐν πᾶσι τοῖς ἀγαθοῖς, οἷς ἔδωκέ σοι Κύριος ὁ Θεός σου, καὶ ἡ οἰκία σου καὶ ὁ Λευίτης καὶ ὁ προσήλυτος ὁ ἐν σοί.

12 When you have made an end of tithing all the tithes of your increase the third year, which is the year of tithing, and have given it to the Levite, the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, that they may eat within your gates, and be filled;

12 ἐὰν δὲ συντελέσῃς ἀποδεκατῶσαι πᾶν τὸ ἐπιδέκατον τῶν γενημάτων τῆς γῆς σου ἐν τῷ ἔτει τῷ τρίτῳ, τὸ δεύτερον ἐπιδέκατον δώσεις τῷ Λευίτῃ καὶ τῷ προσηλύτῳ καὶ τῷ ὀρφανῷ καὶ τῇ χήρᾳ, καὶ φάγονται ἐν ταῖς πόλεσίν σου καὶ ἐμπλησθήσονται.	12 Ἐὰν δὲ συντελέσῃς ἀποδεκατῶσαι πᾶν τὸ ἐπιδέκατον τῶν γενημάτων σου ἐν τῷ ἔτει τῷ τρίτῳ, τὸ δεύτερον ἐπιδέκατον δώσεις τῷ Λευίτῃ καὶ τῷ προσηλύτῳ καὶ τῷ ὀρφανῷ καὶ τῇ χήρᾳ, καὶ φάγονται ἐν ταῖς πόλεσί σου καὶ εὐφρανθήσονται.

13 then you shall say before Yahweh your Elohim, ‘I have brought away the hallowed things out of my house, and also have given them to the Levite, and to the stranger, to the fatherless, and to the widow, according to all your commandments which you have commanded me; I haven’t transgressed your commandments, neither have I forgotten them.

14 and I haven’t eaten from them in my grief; I haven’t enjoyed the fruits from them for something unclean; I haven’t given any of them to the dead. 15 Look down from your holy habitation, from heaven, and bless your people Israēl, and the land which you have given us, as you swore to our fathers, a land that flows with milk and honey.’

16 This day Yahweh your Elohim has commanded you to do these statutes and judgments; you shall therefore keep and do them with all your heart, and with all your soul.

16 ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ταύτῃ κύριος ὁ θεός σου ἐνετείλατό σοί ποιῆσαι πάντα τὰ δικαιώματα ταῦτα καὶ τὰ κρίματα, καὶ φυλάξεσθε καὶ ποιήσετε αὐτὰ ἐξ ὅλης τῆς καρδίας ὑμῶν καὶ ἐξ ὅλης τῆς ψυχῆς ὑμῶν.	16 Ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ταύτῃ Κύριος ὁ Θεός σου ἐνετείλατό σοι ποιῆσαι πάντα τὰ δικαιώματα καὶ τὰ κρίματα, καὶ φυλάξεσθε καὶ ποιήσετε αὐτὰ ἐξ ὅλης τῆς καρδίας ὑμῶν καὶ ἐξ ὅλης τῆς ψυχῆς ὑμῶν.

17 You have affirmed Yahweh this day to be your God, and to walk in his ways, and to keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his judgments, and to listen to his voice.

18 And Yahweh has affirmed you this day to be his special people, as he has promised you, and that you should keep all his commandments;

19 and to make you high above all nations which he has made, in praise, and in name, and in honour; and that you may be a holy people to Yahweh your Elohim, as he has spoken.”

19 καὶ εἶναί σὲ ὑπεράνω πάντων τῶν ἐθνῶν, ὡς ἐποίησέν σὲ ὀνομαστὸν καὶ καύχημα καὶ δοξαστόν, εἶναί σὲ λαὸν ἅγιον κυρίῳ τῷ θεῷ σου, καθὼς ἐλάλησεν.	19 καὶ εἶναί σε ὑπεράνω πάντων τῶν ἐθνῶν, ὡς ἐποίησέ σε ὀνομαστὸν καὶ καύχημα καὶ δοξαστόν, εἶναί σε λαὸν ἅγιον Κυρίῳ τῷ Θεῷ σου, καθὼς ἐλάλησε.
