3 And he passed over before them, and bowed himself to the ground seven times, until he came near to his brother.

4 And Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck, and kissed him; and they wept.

5 And he lifted up his eyes, and saw the women and the children; and said, “Who are those with you?” And he said, “The children whom God has graciously given your servant.”

5 καὶ ἀναβλέψας εἶδεν τὰς γυναῖκας καὶ τὰ παιδία καὶ εἶπεν, τί ταῦτά σοὶ ἐστιν;
5 καὶ ἀναβλέψας Ἡσαῦ εἶδε τὰς γυναῖκας καὶ τὰ παιδία καὶ εἶπε· τί ταῦτά σοι ἐστίν;
5 And when he looked up, he saw the women and children and said, “What are these to you?” And he said, “The children by which God has shown mercy to your servant.” 5 And when he looked up, he saw the women and children and said, “What are these to you?” And he said, “The children by which God has shown mercy to your servant.”

6 Then the handmaidens came near, they and their children, and they bowed themselves.

6 And the female servants and their children approached and did obeisance. 6 And the female servants and their children approached and did obeisance.

7 And Leah also with her children came near, and bowed themselves; and after came Joseph near and Rachel, and they bowed themselves.

7 And Leia and her children approached and did obeisance; and after this Rachel and Jōsēph approached and did obeisance. 7 And Leia and her children approached and did obeisance; and after this Rachel and Jōsēph approached and did obeisance.

8 And he said, “What do you mean by all this drove which I met?” And he said, “These are to find grace in the sight of my lord.”

8 καὶ εἶπεν, τί ταῦτά σοὶ ἐστιν, πᾶσαι αἱ παρεμβολαὶ αὗται, αἷς ἀπήντηκα;
8 καὶ εἶπε· τί ταῦτά σοι ἐστί, πᾶσαι αἱ παρεμβολαί αὗται, αἷς ἀπήντηκα;
8 And he said, “What are these to you, all these companies that I have met?” And he said, “That your servant may find favour before you, lord.” 8 And he said, “What are these to you, all these companies that I have met?” And he said, “That your servant may find favour before you, lord.”

9 And Esau said, “I have enough, my brother; keep what you have for yourself.”

9 But Hēsau said, “I have much, brother; let your things be yours.” 9 But Hēsau said, “I have much, brother; let your things be yours.”

10 And Jacōb said, “No, please, if now I have found grace in your sight, then receive my present at my hand; for therefore I have seen your face, as though I had seen the face of God, and you were pleased with me.

10 But Jacōb said, “If I have found favour before you, accept my gifts by my hands; for the sake of this I saw your face, as someone might see the face of God, and you will think well of me. 10 But Jacōb said, “If I have found favour before you, accept my gifts by my hands; for the sake of this I saw your face, as someone might see the face of God, and you will think well of me.

11 Take, I pray, my blessing that is brought to you; because God has dealt graciously with me, and because I have enough.” And he urged him, and he took it.

11 Receive my blessings that I have brought to you, because God has shown mercy to me and I have everything.” And he urged him, and he received them. 11 Receive my blessings that I have brought to you, because God has shown mercy to me and I have everything.” And he urged him, and he received them.

12 And he said, “Let’s take our journey, and let’s go, and I will go before you.”

12 And he said, “When we depart, we shall go straight ahead.” 12 And he said, “When we depart, we shall go straight ahead.”

13 And he said to him, “My lord knows that the children are tender, and the flocks and herds with young are with me; and if men should overdrive them one day, all the flock will die.

13 But he said to him, “My lord knows that the children are delicate, and the sheep and cows are giving birth for me; so if I should drive them hard for one day, all the cattle will die. 13 But he said to him, “My lord knows that the children are delicate, and the sheep and cows are giving birth for me; so if I should drive them hard for one day, all the cattle will die.

14 Let my lord, please, pass over before his servant; and I will lead on slowly, according as the cattle that goes before me and the children be able to endure, until I come to my lord to Seir.”

14 Let my lord advance ahead of his servant, but I will regain strength on the way in accordance with the ease of the trip that is before me and in accordance with the pace of the children until I come to my lord in Sēir.” 14 Let my lord advance ahead of his servant, but I will regain strength on the way in accordance with the ease of the trip that is before me and in accordance with the pace of the children until I come to my lord in Sēeir.”

15 And Esau said, “Let me now leave with you some of the folk that are with me.” And he said, “What need is there for it? Let me find grace in the sight of my lord.”

δὲ εἶπεν, ἵνα τί τοῦτο;
δὲ εἶπε· ἱνατί τοῦτο;
15 Then Hēsau said, “I shall leave with you some of the people who are with me.” But he said, “Why is this? It is enough that I have found favour before you, lord.” 15 Then Hēsau said, “I shall leave with you some of the people who are with me.” But he said, “Why is this? It is enough that I have found favour before you, lord.”

16 So Esau returned that day on his way to Seir.

16 Then Hēsau returned back on that day to his way to Sēir. 16 Then Hēsau returned back on that day to his way to Sēeir.

17 And Jacōb journeyed to Succoth, and built himself a house, and made tents for his cattle; therefore the name of the place is called Succoth.
