1 [M 2:3] Say you to your brothers, Ammi; and to your sisters, Ru-hamah.

2 [M 2:4] Plead with your mother, plead; for she is not my wife, neither am I her husband: let her therefore put away her prostitutions out of her sight, and her adulteries from between her breasts;

3 [M 2:5] Lest I strip her naked, and set her as in the day that she was born, and make her as a wilderness, and set her like a dry land, and slay her with thirst.

3 ὅπως ἄν ἐκδύσω αὐτὴν γυμνὴν καὶ ἀποκαταστήσω αὐτὴν καθὼς ἡμέρᾳ γενέσεως αὐτῆς· καὶ θήσομαι αὐτὴν ὡς ἔρημον καὶ τάξω αὐτὴν ὡς γῆν ἄνυδρον καὶ ἀποκτενῶ αὐτὴν ἐν δίψει·	3 ὅπως ἄν ἐκδύσω αὐτὴν γυμνὴν καὶ ἀποκαταστήσω αὐτὴν καθὼς ἡμέρα γενέσεως αὐτῆς. καὶ θήσω αὐτὴν ἔρημον καὶ τάξω αὐτὴν ὡς γῆν ἄνυδρον καὶ ἀποκτενῶ αὐτὴν ἐν δίψει·

5 [M 2:7] For their mother has played the prostitute: she who conceived them has done shamefully; for she said, I will go after my lovers, that give me my bread and my water, my wool and my flax, my oil and my drink.

6 [M 2:8] Therefore, behold, I will hedge up your way with thorns, and make a wall, that she shall not find her paths.

7 [M 2:9] And she shall follow after her lovers, but she shall not overtake them; and she shall seek them, but shall not find them: then shall she say, I will go and return to my first husband; for then was it better with me than now.

7 And she shall pursue her lovers and not overtake them, and she shall seek them and shall not find them. 8 [M 2:10] For she didn’t know that I gave her grain, and wine, and oil, and multiplied her silver and gold, which they prepared for Baal.

8 And she didn’t know that I had given her the grain and the wine and the olive oil and had multiplied silver money for her. 9 [M 2:11] Therefore will I return, and take away my grain in the time of it, and my wine in the season of it, and will recover my wool and my flax given to cover her nakedness.

10 [M 2:12] And now will I discover her lewdness in the sight of her lovers, and none shall deliver her out of my hand.

11 [M 2:13] I will also cause all her mirth to cease, her feast days, her new moons, and her sabbaths, and all her solemn feasts.

11 καὶ ἀποστρέψω πάσας τὰς εὐφροσύνας αὐτῆς, ἑορτὰς αὐτῆς καὶ τὰς νουμηνίας αὐτῆς καὶ τὰ σάββατα αὐτῆς καὶ πάσας τὰς πανηγύρεις αὐτῆς·	11 καὶ ἀποστρέψω πάσας τὰς εὐφροσύνας αὐτῆς, ἑορτὰς αὐτῆς καὶ τὰς νουμηνίας αὐτῆς καὶ τὰ σάββατα αὐτῆς καὶ πάσας τὰς πανηγύρεις αὐτῆς.

12 [M 2:14] And I will destroy her vines and her fig trees, of which she has said, These are my rewards that my lovers have given me; and I will make them a forest, and the beasts of the field shall eat them.

12 καὶ ἀφανιῶ ἄμπελον αὐτῆς καὶ τὰς συκᾶς αὐτῆς, ὅσα εἶπεν μισθώματά μου ταῦτά ἐστιν ἃ ἔδωκάν μοι οἱ ἐρασταί μου, καὶ θήσομαι αὐτὰ εἰς μαρτύριον, καὶ καταφάγεται αὐτὰ τὰ θηρία τοῦ ἀγροῦ καὶ τὰ πετεινὰ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ τὰ ἑρπετὰ τῆς γῆς·	12 καὶ ἀφανιῶ ἄμπελον αὐτῆς καὶ τάς συκᾶς αὐτῆς, ὅσα εἶπε· μισθώματά μου ταῦτά ἐστιν ἃ ἔδωκάν μοι οἱ ἐρασταί μου, καὶ θήσομαι αὐτὰ εἰς μαρτύριον, καὶ καταφάγεται αὐτὰ τὰ θηρία τοῦ ἀγροῦ, καὶ τὰ πετεινὰ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ τὰ ἑρπετὰ τῆς γῆς.

13 [M 2:15] And I will visit on her the days of Baals, in which she burned incense to them, and she decked herself with her earrings and her jewels, and she went after her lovers, and forgot me, says Yahweh.

13 καὶ ἐκδικήσω ἐπ’ αὐτὴν τὰς ἡμέρας τῶν Βααλίμ, ἐν αἷς ἐπέθυεν αὐτοῖς καὶ περιετίθετο τὰ ἐνώτια αὐτῆς καὶ τὰ καθόρμια αὐτῆς καὶ ἐπορεύετο ὀπίσω τῶν ἐραστῶν αὐτῆς, ἐμοῦ δὲ ἐπελάθετο, λέγει κύριος.	13 καὶ ἐκδικήσω ἐπ’ αὐτὴν τὰς ἡμέρας τῶν Βααλείμ, ἐν αἷς ἐπέθυεν αὐτοῖς καὶ περιετίθετο τὰ ἐνώτια αὐτῆς καὶ τὰ καθόρμια αὐτῆς καὶ ἐπορεύετο ὀπίσω τῶν ἐραστῶν αὐτῆς, ἐμοῦ δὲ ἐπελάθετο, λέγει Κύριος.

14 [M 2:16] Therefore, behold, I will allure her, and bring her into the wilderness, and speak comfortably to her.

15 [M 2:17] And I will give her her vineyards from there, and the valley of Achor for a door of hope; and she shall sing there, as in the days of her youth, and as in the day when she came up out of the land of Egypt.

15 καὶ δώσω αὐτῇ τὰ κτήματα αὐτῆς ἐκεῖθεν καὶ τὴν κοιλάδα Ἀχὼρ διανοῖξαι σύνεσιν αὐτῆς, καὶ ταπεινωθήσεται ἐκεῖ κατὰ τὰς ἡμέρας νηπιότητος αὐτῆς καὶ κατὰ τὰς ἡμέρας ἀναβάσεως αὐτῆς ἐκ γῆς Αἰγύπτου.	15 καὶ δώσω αὐτῇ τὰ κτήματα αὐτῆς ἐκεῖθεν καὶ τὴν κοιλάδα Ἀχὼρ διανοῖξαι σύνεσιν αὐτῆς, καὶ ταπεινωθήσεται ἐκεῖ κατὰ τὰς ἡμέρας νηπιότητος αὐτῆς καὶ κατὰ τὰς ἡμέρας ἀναβάσεως αὐτῆς ἐκ γῆς Αἰγύπτου.
15 And to her, I will give her possessions from there and the valley of Achōr, to open up her understanding. 16 [M 2:18] And it shall be at that day, says Yahweh, that you shall call me Ishi; and shall call me no more Baali.

17 [M 2:19] For I will take away the names of Baals out of her mouth, and they shall no more be remembered by their name.

18 [M 2:20] And in that day will I make a covenant for them with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven, and with the creeping things of the ground; and I will break the bow and the sword and the battle out of the earth, and will make them to lie down safely.

18 καὶ διαθήσομαι αὐτοῖς ἐν ἐκείνῃ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ διαθήκην μετὰ τῶν θηρίων τοῦ ἀγροῦ καὶ μετὰ τῶν πετεινῶν τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ μετὰ τῶν ἑρπετῶν τῆς γῆς· καὶ τόξον καὶ ῥομφαίαν καὶ πόλεμον συντρίψω ἀπὸ τῆς γῆς καὶ κατοικιῶ σὲ ἐπ’ ἐλπίδι.	18 καὶ διαθήσομαι αὐτοῖς διαθήκην ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ μετὰ τῶν θηρίων τοῦ ἀγροῦ καὶ μετὰ τῶν πετεινῶν τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ τῶν ἑρπετῶν τῆς γῆς· καὶ τόξον καὶ ῥομφαίαν καὶ πόλεμον συντρίψω ἀπὸ τῆς γῆς καὶ κατοικιῶ σε ἐπ’ ἐλπίδι.

19 [M 2:21] And I will betroth you to me forever; yes, I will betroth you to me in righteousness, and in judgment, and in lovingkindness, and in mercies.

20 [M 2:22] I will even betroth you to me in faithfullness; and you shall know Yahweh.

21 [M 2:23] And it will happen in that day, I will hear, says Yahweh, I will hear the heavens, and they shall hear the earth;

21 καὶ ἔσται ἐν ἐκείνῃ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ, λέγει κύριος, ἐπακούσομαι τῷ οὐρανῷ καὶ ὁ οὐρανός, ἐπακούσεται τῇ γῇ,	21 καὶ ἔσται ἐν ἐκείνῃ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ, λέγει Κύριος, ἐπακούσομαι τῷ οὐρανῷ, καὶ αὐτὸς ἐπακούσεται τῇ γῇ,

22 2:24] And the earth shall hear the grain, and the wine, and the oil; and they shall hear Jezreel.

23 [M 2:25] And I will sow her to me in the earth; and I will have mercy on her that had not obtained mercy; and I will say to them who were not my people, You are my people; and they shall say, You are my God.

23 καὶ σπερῶ αὐτὴν ἐμαυτῷ ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς καὶ ἐλεήσω τὴν Οὐκ-ἠλεημένην καὶ ἐρῶ τῷ Οὐ-λαῷ-μου λαός μου εἶ σύ, καὶ αὐτὸς ἐρεῖ κύριος ὁ θεός μου εἶ σύ.	23 καὶ σπερῶ αὐτὴν ἐμαυτῷ ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς καὶ ἐλεήσω τὴν Οὐκ-ἠλεημένην καὶ ἐρῶ τῷ Οὐ-λαῷ-μου· λαός μου εἰ σύ, καὶ αὐτὸς ἐρεῖ· Κύριος ὁ Θεός μου εἶ σύ.
23 and I will sow her for myself in the land.
