I Kings

1 Now in the 18th year of king Jeroboam the son of Nebat reigned Abijam over Judah.

וּבִשְׁנַת שְׁמֹנֶה עֶשְׂרֵה לַמֶּלֶךְ יָרָבְעָם בֶּן ־ נְבָט מָלַךְ אֲבִיָּם עַל ־ יְהוּדָה׃

3 καὶ ἐπορεύθη ἐν ταῖς ἁμαρτίαις τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ, αἷς ἐποίησεν ἐνώπιον αὐτοῦ, καὶ οὐκ ἦν ἡ καρδία αὐτοῦ τελεία μετὰ κυρίου θεοῦ αὐτοῦ ὡς ἡ καρδία Δαυὶδ τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ.	3 καὶ ἐπορεύθη ἐν ταῖς ἁμαρτίαις τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ, αἷς ἐποίησεν ἐνώπιον αὐτοῦ, καὶ οὐκ ἦν ἡ καρδία αὐτοῦ τελεία μετὰ Κυρίου Θεοῦ αὐτοῦ ὡς ἡ καρδία τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ.

4 Nevertheless for David’s sake did Yahweh his God give him a lamp in Jerusalem, to set up his son after him, and to establish Jerusalem.

כִּי לְמַעַן דָּוִד נָתַן יְהוָה אֱלֹהָיו לֹו נִיר בִּירוּשָׁלִָם לְהָקִים אֶת ־ בְּנֹו אַחֲרָיו וּלְהַעֲמִיד אֶת ־ יְרוּשָׁלִָם׃

5 Because David did what was right in the eyes of Yahweh, and didn’t turn aside from anything that he commanded him all the days of his life, save only in the matter of Uriah the Hittite.

7 Now the rest of the acts of Abijam, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? And there was war between Abijam and Jeroboam.

8 And Abijam slept with his fathers; and they buried him in the city of David; and Asa his son reigned in his stead.

וַיִּשְׁכַּב אֲבִיָּם עִם ־ אֲבֹתָיו וַיִּקְבְּרוּ אֹתֹו בְּעִיר דָּוִד וַיִּמְלֹךְ אָסָא בְנֹו תַּחְתָּיו׃ פ

וַיַּעֲבֵר הַקְּדֵשִׁים מִן ־ הָאָרֶץ וַיָּסַר אֶת ־ כָּל ־ הַגִּלֻּלִים אֲשֶׁר עָשׂוּ אֲבֹתָיו׃

12 καὶ ἀφεῖλεν τὰς τελετὰς ἀπὸ τῆς γῆς καὶ ἐξαπέστειλεν πάντα τὰ ἐπιτηδεύματα, ἃ ἐποίησαν οἱ πατέρες αὐτοῦ.	12 καὶ ἀφεῖλε τὰς τελετὰς ἀπὸ τῆς γῆς καὶ ἐξαπέστειλε πάντα τὰ ἐπιτηδεύματα, ἃ ἐποίησαν οἱ πατέρες αὐτοῦ.

13 καὶ τὴν Ἀνὰ τὴν μητέρα αὐτοῦ μετέστησεν τοῦ μὴ εἶναι ἡγουμένην, καθὼς ἐποίησεν σύνοδον ἐν τῷ ἄλσει αὐτῆς, καὶ ἐξέκοψεν Ἀσὰ τὰς καταδύσεις αὐτῆς καὶ ἐνέπρησεν πυρὶ ἐν τῷ χειμάρρῳ Κεδρών.	13 καὶ τὴν Ἀνὰ τὴν μητέρα ἑαυτοῦ μετέστησε τοῦ μὴ εἶναι ἡγουμένην, καθὼς ἐποίησε σύνοδον ἐν τῷ ἄλσει αὐτῆς, καὶ ἐξέκοψεν Ἀσὰ τὰς καταδύσεις αὐτῆς καὶ ἐνέπρησε πυρὶ ἐν τῷ χειμάρρῳ Κέδρων.

15 And he brought in the things which his father had dedicated, and the things which he had dedicated, into the house of Yahweh — silver, and gold, and vessels.

וַיַּעַל בַּעְשָׁא מֶלֶךְ ־ יִשְׂרָאֵל עַל ־ יְהוּדָה וַיִּבֶן אֶת ־ הָרָמָה לְבִלְתִּי תֵּת יֹצֵא וָבָא לְאָסָא מֶלֶךְ יְהוּדָה׃

17 καὶ ἀνέβη Βαασὰ βασιλεὺς Ἰσραὴλ ἐπὶ Ἰούδαν καὶ ᾠκοδόμησεν τὴν Ῥαμὰ τοῦ μὴ εἶναι ἐκπορευόμενον καὶ εἰσπορευόμενον τῷ Ἀσὰ βασιλεῖ Ἰούδα.	17 καὶ ἀνέβη Βαασὰ βασιλεὺς Ἰσραὴλ ἐπὶ Ἰούδαν καὶ ᾠκοδόμησε τὴν Ῥαμὰ τοῦ μὴ εἶναι ἐκπορευόμενον καὶ εἰσπορευόμενον τῷ Ἀσὰ βασιλεῖ Ἰούδα.

18 Then Asa took all the silver and the gold that were left in the treasures of the house of Yahweh, and the treasures of the king’s house, and delivered them into the hand of his servants; and king Asa sent them to Ben-hadad, the son of Tabrimon, the son of Hezion, king of Syria, who dwelt at Damascus, saying,

וַיִּקַּח אָסָא אֶת ־ כָּל ־ הַכֶּסֶף וְהַזָּהָב הַנֹּותָרִים בְּאֹוצְרֹות בֵּית ־ יְהוָה וְאֶת ־ אֹוצְרֹות בֵּית מֶלֶךְ וַיִּתְּנֵם בְּיַד ־ עֲבָדָיו וַיִּשְׁלָחֵם הַמֶּלֶךְ אָסָא אֶל ־ בֶּן ־ הֲדַד בֶּן ־ טַבְרִמֹּן בֶּן ־ חֶזְיֹון מֶלֶךְ אֲרָם הַיֹּשֵׁב בְּדַמֶּשֶׂק לֵאמֹר׃

18 καὶ ἔλαβεν Ἀσὰ τὸ ἀργύριον καὶ τὸ χρυσίον τὸ εὑρεθὲν ἐν τοῖς θησαυροῖς τοῦ οἴκου τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτὰ εἰς χεῖρας παίδων αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἐξαπέστειλεν αὐτοὺς ὁ βασιλεὺς Ἀσὰ πρὸς υἱὸν Ἀδὲρ υἱὸν Ταβερεμμὰν υἱοῦ Ἀζὶν βασιλέως Συρίας τοῦ κατοικοῦντος ἐν Δαμασκῷ λέγων	18 καὶ ἔλαβεν Ἀσὰ σύμπαν τὸ ἀργύριον καὶ τὸ χρυσίον τὸ εὑρεθὲν ἐν τοῖς θησαυροῖς οἴκου Κυρίου καὶ ἐν τοῖς θησαυροῖς τοῦ οἴκου τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτὰ εἰς χεῖρας παίδων αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἐξαπέστειλεν αὐτοὺς ὁ βασιλεὺς Ἀσὰ πρὸς υἱὸν Ἄδερ υἱὸν Ταβερεμμὰν υἱοῦ Ἀζὶν βασιλέως Συρίας τοῦ κατοικοῦντος ἐν Δαμασκῷ λέγων·

בְּרִית בֵּינִי וּבֵינֶךָ בֵּין אָבִי וּבֵין אָבִיךָ הִנֵּה שָׁלַחְתִּי לְךָ שֹׁחַד כֶּסֶף וְזָהָב לֵךְ הָפֵרָה אֶת ־ בְּרִיתְךָ אֶת ־ בַּעְשָׁא מֶלֶךְ ־ יִשְׂרָאֵל וְיַעֲלֶה מֵעָלָי׃

19 διάθου διαθήκην ἀνὰ μέσον ἐμοῦ καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον σοῦ καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον τοῦ πατρός μου καὶ τοῦ πατρός σου· ἰδοὺ ἐξαπέσταλκά σοί δῶρα ἀργύριον καὶ χρυσίον, δεῦρο διασκέδασον τὴν διαθήκην σου τὴν πρὸς Βαασὰ βασιλέα Ἰσραήλ, καὶ ἀναβήσεται ἀπ’ ἐμοῦ.	19 διάθου διαθήκην ἀνὰ μέσον ἐμοῦ καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον σοῦ καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον τοῦ πατρός μου καὶ τοῦ πατρός σου· ἰδοὺ ἐξαπέσταλκά σοι δῶρα ἀργύριον καὶ χρυσίον, δεῦρο διασκέδασον τὴν διαθήκην σου τὴν πρὸς Βαασὰ βασιλέα Ἰσραήλ, καὶ ἀναβήσεται ἀπ’ ἐμοῦ.
19 “ Decree a treaty between me and you, and between my father and your father. Look! I have sent forth gifts to you: gold and silver. 27 καὶ περιεκάθισεν αὐτὸν Βαασὰ υἱὸς Ἀχία ἐπὶ τὸν οἶκον Βελαὰν καὶ ἐπάταξεν αὐτὸν ἐν Γαβαθὼν τῇ τῶν ἀλλοφύλων, καὶ Ναδὰβ καὶ πᾶς Ἰσραὴλ περιεκάθητο ἐπὶ Γαβαθών.	27 καὶ περιεκάθισεν αὐτὸν Βαασὰ υἱὸς Ἀχιὰ ἐπὶ τὸν οἶκον Βελαὰν καὶ ἐχάραξεν αὐτὸν ἐν Γαβαθὼν τῇ τῶν ἀλλοφύλων, καὶ Ναδὰβ καὶ πᾶς Ἰσραὴλ περιεκάθητο ἐπὶ Γαβαθών.

29 καὶ ἐγένετο ὡς ἐβασίλευσεν, καὶ ἐπάταξεν τὸν οἶκον Ἰεροβοὰμ καὶ οὐχ ὑπελίπετο πᾶσαν πνοὴν τοῦ Ἰεροβοὰμ ἕως τοῦ ἐξολεθρεῦσαι αὐτὸν κατὰ τὸ ῥῆμα κυρίου, ὃ ἐλάλησεν ἐν χειρὶ δούλου αὐτοῦ Ἀχία τοῦ Σηλωνίτου	29 καὶ ἐγένετο ὡς ἐβασίλευσε, καὶ ἐπάταξεν ὅλον τὸν οἶκον Ἱεροβοὰμ καὶ οὐχ ὑπελίπετο πᾶσαν πνοὴν τοῦ Ἱεροβοὰμ ἕως τοῦ ἐξολοθρεῦσαι αὐτὸν κατὰ τὸ ῥῆμα Κυρίου, ὃν ἐλάλησεν ἐν χειρὶ δούλου αὐτοῦ Ἀχιὰ τοῦ Σηλωνίτου
