Joshua

1 And it happened, when all the people were completely crossed over Jordan, that Yahweh spoke to Joshua, saying,

5 And Joshua said to them, “Cross over back to the ark of Yahweh your Elohim into the midst of Jordan. Each of you pick up a stone on your shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Israēl;

7 Then you shall answer them, ‘The waters of Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of Yahweh; when it crossed over Jordan, the waters of Jordan were cut off’; and these stones shall be for a memorial to the sons of Israēl forever.”

10 For the priests who carried the ark stood in the middle of the Jordan, until everything was finished that Yahweh commanded Joshua to speak to the people, according to all that Moses commanded Joshua; and the people hurried and crossed over.

12 And the sons of Reuben, and the sons of Gad, and half the tribe of Manasseh, passed over armed before the sons of Israēl, as Moses spoke to them;

12 καὶ διέβησαν οἱ υἱοὶ Ῥουβὴν καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ Γὰδ καὶ οἱ ἡμίσεις φυλῆς Μανασσῆ διεσκευασμένοι ἔμπροσθεν τῶν υἱῶν Ἰσραήλ, καθάπερ ἐνετείλατο αὐτοῖς Μωυσῆς.	12 καὶ διέβησαν οἱ υἱοὶ Ῥουβὴν καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ Γὰδ καὶ οἱ ἡμίσεις φυλῆς Μανασσῆ διεσκευασμένοι ἔμπροσθεν τῶν υἱῶν Ἰσραήλ, καθάπερ ἐνετείλατο αὐτοῖς Μωυσῆς.

13 About 40,000 prepared for war passed over before Yahweh for battle, to the plains of Jericho.

14 On that day Yahweh magnified Joshua in the sight of all Israēl; and they feared him, as they feared Moses, all the days of his life.

15 And Yahweh spoke to Joshua, saying,

17 Joshua therefore commanded the priests, saying, “Come up out of Jordan.”

18 And it happened, when the priests who carried the ark of the covenant of Yahweh had come up out of the middle of Jordan, and the soles of the priests’ feet were lifted up to the dry land, that the waters of Jordan returned to their place, and flowed over all its banks, as they did before.

19 And the people came up out of Jordan on the tenth day of the first month, and encamped in Gilgal, in the east border of Jericho.

20 And those twelve stones, which they took out of Jordan, Joshua set them up in Gilgal.

21 And he spoke to the sons of Israēl, saying, “When your sons shall ask their fathers in time to come, saying, ‘What do these stones mean?’

23 ἀποξηράναντος κυρίου τοῦ θεοῦ ἡμῶν τὸ ὕδωρ τοῦ Ἰορδάνου ἐκ τοῦ ἔμπροσθεν αὐτῶν μέχρι οὗ διέβησαν, καθάπερ ἐποίησεν κύριος ὁ θεὸς ἡμῶν τὴν ἐρυθρὰν θάλασσαν, ἣν ἀπεξήρανεν κύριος ὁ θεὸς ἡμῶν ἔμπροσθεν ἡμῶν ἕως παρήλθομεν,	23 ἀποξηράναντος Κυρίου τοῦ Θεοῦ ἡμῶν τὸ ὕδωρ τοῦ Ἰορδάνου ἐκ τῶν ἔμπροσθεν αὐτῶν, μέχρις οὗ διέβησαν· καθάπερ ἐποίησε Κύριος ὁ Θεὸς ἡμῶν τὴν ἐρυθρὰν θάλασσαν, ἣν ἀπεξήρανε Κύριος ὁ Θεὸς ἡμῶν ἔμπροσθεν ἡμῶν, ἕως παρήλθομεν,

24 That all the people of the earth might know the hand of Yahweh, that it is mighty; that you might fear Yahweh your Elohim forever.”
