I Kings

1 And Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and in addition how he had slain all the prophets with the sword.

2 Then Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah, saying, So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I don’t make your life as the life of one of them by tomorrow about this time.

10 And he said, I have been very jealous for Yahweh Elohim of armies. for the sons of Israēl have forsaken your covenant, thrown down your altars, and slain your prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.

11 And he said, Go forth, and stand on the mount before Yahweh. And, behold, Yahweh passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and broke in pieces the rocks before Yahweh; but Yahweh wasn’t in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake; but Yahweh wasn’t in the earthquake.

11 καὶ εἶπεν ἐξελεύσῃ αὔριον καὶ στήσῃ ἐνώπιον κυρίου ἐν τῷ ὄρει· ἰδοὺ παρελεύσεται κύριος. καὶ πνεῦμα μέγα κραταιὸν διαλῦον ὄρη καὶ συντρῖβον πέτρας ἐνώπιον κυρίου, οὐκ ἐν τῷ πνεύματι κύριος· καὶ μετὰ τὸ πνεῦμα συσσεισμός, οὐκ ἐν τῷ συσσεισμῷ κύριος·	11 καὶ εἶπε· ἐξελεύσῃ αὔριον καὶ στήσῃ ἐνώπιον Κυρίου ἐν τῷ ὄρει· ἰδοὺ παρελεύσεται Κύριος, καὶ ἰδοὺ πνεῦμα μέγα κραταιὸν διαλῦον ὄρη καὶ συντρίβον πέτρας ἐνώπιον Κυρίου, οὐκ ἐν τῷ πνεύματι Κύριος· καὶ μετὰ τὸ πνεῦμα συσσεισμός, οὐκ ἐν τῷ συσσεισμῷ Κύριος·

13 And it was so, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, there came a voice to him, and said, What are you doing here, Elijah?

15 And Yahweh said to him, Go, return on your way to the wilderness of Damascus; and when you come, anoint Hazael to be king over Syria.

17 And it will happen, that Jehu shall slay him who escapes the sword of Hazael. and Elisha shall slay him who escapes from the sword of Jehu.

18 Yet I have left me 7000 in Israēl, all the knees which haven’t bowed to Baal, and every mouth which hasn’t kissed him.

18 καὶ καταλείψεις ἐν Ἰσραὴλ ἑπτὰ χιλιάδας ἀνδρῶν, πάντα γόνατα, ἃ οὐκ ὤκλασαν γόνυ τῷ Βάαλ, καὶ πᾶν στόμα, ὃ οὐ προσεκύνησεν αὐτῷ.	18 καὶ καταλείψεις ἐν Ἰσραὴλ ἑπτὰ χιλιάδας ἀνδρῶν, πάντα γόνατα, ἃ οὐκ ὤκλασαν γόνυ τῷ Βάαλ, καὶ πᾶν στόμα, ὃν οὐ προσεκύνησεν αὐτῷ.

19 So he departed from there, and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen before him, and he with the 12th; and Elijah passed by him, and cast his mantle on him.

19 καὶ ἀπῆλθεν ἐκεῖθεν καὶ εὑρίσκει τὸν Ἐλισαιὲ υἱὸν Σαφάτ, καὶ αὐτὸς ἠροτρία ἐν βουσίν δώδεκα ζεύγη βοῶν ἐνώπιον αὐτοῦ, καὶ αὐτὸς ἐν τοῖς δώδεκα, καὶ ἐπῆλθεν ἐπ’ αὐτὸν καὶ ἐπέρριψε τὴν μηλωτὴν αὐτοῦ ἐπ’ αὐτόν.	19 Καὶ ἀπῆλθεν ἐκεῖθεν καὶ εὑρίσκει τὸν Ἑλισαιὲ υἱὸν Σαφάτ, καὶ αὐτὸς ἠροτρία ἐν βουσὶ δώδεκα ζεύγη ἐνώπιον αὐτοῦ, καὶ αὐτὸς ἐν τοῖς δώδεκα καὶ ἀπῆλθεν ἐπ’ αὐτὸν καὶ ἐπέρριψε τὴν μηλωτὴν αὐτοῦ ἐπ’ αὐτόν.

20 καὶ κατέλιπεν Ἐλισαιὲ τὰς βόας καὶ κατέδραμεν ὀπίσω Ἠλίου καὶ εἶπεν καταφιλήσω τὸν πατέρα μου καὶ ἀκολουθήσω ὀπίσω σου· καὶ εἶπεν Ἠλίου ἀνάστρεφε, ὅτι πεποίηκά σοι.	20 καὶ κατέλιπεν Ἑλισαιὲ τὰς βόας καὶ κατέδραμεν ὀπίσω Ἠλιοὺ καὶ εἶπε· καταφιλήσω τὸν πατέρα μου καὶ ἀκολουθήσω ὀπίσω σου· καὶ εἶπε Ἠλιού· ἀνάστρεφε, ὅτι πεποίηκά σοι.

21 And he returned back from him, and took a yoke of oxen, and killed them, and boiled their flesh with the instruments of the oxen, and gave to the people, and they ate. Then he arose, and went after Elijah, and ministered to him.
