Visit of the Queen of Sheba

1 And when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon, she came to prove Solomon with hard questions at Jerusalem, with a very great company, and camels that carried spices, and gold in abundance, and precious stones; and when she came to Solomon, she communed with him of all that was in her heart.

1 And the queen of Saba heard of the name of Salōmōn, and she came to Jerousalēm with a very large force, to prove Salōmōn with hard questions, and she had camels carrying spices in abundance, and gold, and precious stones; and she came to Salōmōn, and told him all that was in her mind.

2 And Solomon told her all her questions; and there was nothing hid from Solomon which he told her not.

2 And Solomon told her all her words; and there didn’t pass a word from Salōmōn which he didn’t tell her. 2 And Solomon told her all her words; and there didn’t pass a word from Salōmōn which he didn’t tell her.

3 And when the queen of Sheba had seen the wisdom of Solomon, and the house that he had built,

3 And the queen of Saba saw the wisdom of Salōmōn, and the house which he had built, 3 And the queen of Saba saw the wisdom of Salōmōn, and the house which he had built,

4 And the food of his table, and the sitting of his servants, and the attendance of his ministers, and their apparel; his cupbearers also, and their apparel; and his ascent by which he went up into the house of Yahweh; there was no more spirit in her.

4 and the food of the tables, and the sitting of his servants, and the standing of his ministers, and their clothing; and his cupbearers, and their apparel; and the whole-burnt-offerings which he offered up in the house of the Lord; then she was in ecstasy. 4 and the food of the tables, and the sitting of his servants, and the standing of his ministers, and their clothing; and his cupbearers, and their apparel; and the whole-burnt-offerings which he offered up in the house of the Lord; then she was in ecstasy.

5 And she said to the king, It was a true report which I heard in my own land of your acts, and of your wisdom.

5 And she said to the king, It was a true report which I heard in my land concerning your words, and concerning your wisdom. 5 And she said to the king, It was a true report which I heard in my land concerning your words, and concerning your wisdom.

6 However I didn’t believe their words, until I came, and my eyes had seen it: and, behold, the one half of the greatness of your wisdom wasn’t told me; for you exceed the fame that I heard.

6 Yet I didn’t believe the reports until I came, and my eyes saw: and, behold, the half of the abundance of your wisdom wasn’t told me: you have exceeded the report which I heard. 6 Yet I didn’t believe the reports until I came, and my eyes saw: and, behold, the half of the abundance of your wisdom wasn’t told me: you have exceeded the report which I heard.

7 Happy are your men, and happy are these your servants, which stand continually before you, and hear your wisdom.

7 Blessed are your men, blessed are these your servants, who stand before you continually, and hear your wisdom. 7 Blessed are your men, blessed are these your servants, who stand before you continually, and hear your wisdom.

8 Blessed be Yahweh your Elohim, which delighted in you to set you on his throne, to be king for Yahweh your Elohim: because your God loved Israēl, to establish them forever, therefore made he you king over them, to do judgment and justice.

8 Blessed be the Lord your God, who took pleasure in you, to set you on his throne for a king, to the Lord your God: since the Lord your God loved Israēl to establish them forever, therefore he has set you over them for a king to execute judgment and justice. 8 Blessed be the Lord your God, who took pleasure in you, to set you on his throne for a king, to the Lord your God: since the Lord your God loved Israēl to establish them forever, therefore he has set you over them for a king to execute judgment and justice.

9 And she gave the king 100 and 20 talents of gold, and of spices great abundance, and precious stones: neither was there any such spice as the queen of Sheba gave king Solomon.

11 And the king made of the algum trees terraces to the house of Yahweh, and to the king’s palace, and harps and psalteries for singers; and there were none such seen before in the land of Judah.

12 And king Solomon gave to the queen of Sheba all her desire, whatever she asked, beside what she had brought to the king. So she turned, and went away to her own land, she and her servants.
