Joshua

1 Now after the death of Moses the servant of Yahweh, it happened that Yahweh spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ minister, saying,

2 “Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, you, and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them, even to the sons of Israēl.

4 from the wilderness and this Lebanon even to the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and to the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast.

5 There shall no one be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I won’t fail you, nor forsake you.

6 Be strong and of a good courage; for to this people you shall divide for an inheritance the land, which I swore to their fathers to give them.

7 Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded you; don’t turn from it to the right hand or to the left, so that you may prosper wherever you go.

7 ἴσχυε οὖν καὶ ἀνδρίζου φυλάσσεσθαι καὶ ποιεῖν καθότι ἐνετείλατό σοί Μωυσῆς ὁ παῖς μου, καὶ οὐκ ἐκκλινεῖς ἀπ’ αὐτῶν εἰς δεξιὰ οὐδὲ εἰς ἀριστερά, ἵνα συνῇς ἐν πᾶσιν, οἷς ἐὰν πράσσῃς.	7 ἴσχυε οὖν καὶ ἀνδρίζου, φυλάσσεσθαι καὶ ποιεῖν καθότι ἐνετείλατό σοι Μωυσῆς ὁ παῖς μου, καὶ οὐκ ἐκκλινεῖς ἀπ’ αὐτῶν εἰς δεξιὰ οὐδὲ εἰς ἀριστερά, ἵνα συνῇς ἐν πᾶσιν οἷς ἐὰν πράσσῃς.

9 ἰδοὺ ἐντέταλμαί σοί ἴσχυε καὶ ἀνδρίζου, μὴ δειλιάσῃς μηδὲ φοβηθῇς, ὅτι μετὰ σου κύριος ὁ θεός σου εἰς πάντα, οὗ ἐὰν πορεύῃ.	9 ἰδοὺ ἐντέταλμαί σοι· ἴσχυε καὶ ἀνδρίζου, μὴ δειλιάσῃς, μηδὲ φοβηθῇς, ὅτι μετὰ σοῦ Κύριος ὁ Θεός σου εἰς πάντας, οὗ ἐὰν πορεύῃ.

10 Then Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying,

11 “Pass through the army, and command the people, saying, ‘Prepare your food; for within three days you shall pass over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land, which Yahweh your Elohim gives you to possess.’”

12 And to the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to half the tribe of Manasseh, spoke Joshua, saying,

13 “Remember the word which Moses the servant of Yahweh commanded you, saying, ‘Yahweh your Elohim has given you rest, and has given you this land.’

14 Your wives, your little ones, and your cattle, shall remain in the land which Moses gave you on this side Jordan; but you shall pass before your brothers armed, all the mighty men of valour, and help them;

16 And they answered Joshua, saying, “All that you command us we will do, and wherever you send us, we will go.

16 καὶ ἀποκριθέντες τῷ Ἰησοῖ εἶπαν Πάντα, ὅσα ἄν ἐντείλῃ ἡμῖν, ποιήσομεν καὶ εἰς πάντα τόπον οὗ ἐὰν ἀποστείλῃς ἡμᾶς πορευσόμεθα·	16 καὶ ἀποκριθέντες τῷ Ἰησοῦ εἶπαν· πάντα ὅσα ἐὰν ἐντείλῃ ἡμῖν, ποιήσομεν καὶ εἰς πάντα τόπον, οὗ ἐὰν ἀποστείλῃς ἡμᾶς, πορευσόμεθα·

17 Just as we listened to Moses in all things, so will we listen to you; only may Yahweh your Elohim be with you, as he was with Moses.

18 Whoever he is who rebels against your commandment, and won’t listen to your words in all that you command him, he shall be put to death; only be strong and of a good courage.”

18 ὁ δὲ ἄνθρωπος, ὃς ἐὰν ἀπειθήσῃ σοί καὶ ὅστις μὴ ἀκούσῃ τῶν ῥημάτων σου καθότι ἄν αὐτῷ ἐντείλῃ, ἀποθανέτω. ἀλλὰ ἴσχυε καὶ ἀνδρίζου.	18 ὁ δὲ ἄνθρωπος, ὃς ἄν ἀπειθήσῃ σοι, καὶ ὅστις μὴ ἀκούσῃ τῶν ῥημάτων σου καθότι ἐὰν ἐντείλῃ αὐτῷ, ἀποθανέτω. ἀλλὰ ἴσχυε καὶ ἀνδρίζου.
