1 And Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

4 And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, that he shall follow after them; and I will be honoured on Pharaoh, and on all his army; that the Egyptians may know that I am Yahweh.” And they did so.

5 And it was told the king of Egypt that the people fled; and the heart of Pharaoh and of his servants was turned against the people, and they said, “Why have we done this, that we have let Israēl go from serving us?”

5 And it was reported to the king of the Aigyptians that the people had escaped. 6 And he made ready his chariot, and took his people with him.

8 And Yahweh hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued after the sons of Israēl; and the sons of Israēl went out with a high hand.

8 καὶ ἐσκλήρυνεν κύριος τὴν καρδίαν Φαραὼ βασιλέως Αἰγύπτου καὶ τῶν θεραπόντων αὐτοῦ, καὶ κατεδίωξεν ὀπίσω τῶν υἱῶν Ἰσραήλ· οἱ δὲ υἱοὶ Ἰσραὴλ ἐξεπορεύοντο ἐν χειρὶ ὑψηλῇ.	8 καὶ ἐσκλήρυνε Κύριος τὴν καρδίαν Φαραὼ βασιλέως Αἰγύπτου καὶ τῶν θεραπόντων αὐτοῦ, καὶ κατεδίωξεν ὀπίσω τῶν υἱῶν Ἰσραήλ· οἱ δὲ υἱοὶ Ἰσραὴλ ἐξεπορεύοντο ἐν χειρὶ ὑψηλῇ.

9 But the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen, and his army, and overtook them encamping by the sea, beside Pi-hahiroth, before Baal-zephon.

10 And when Pharaoh drew near, the sons of Israēl lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid; and the sons of Israēl cried out to Yahweh.

10 And Pharaō was approaching. And when the sons of Israēl looked up, they saw with their eyes, and the Aigyptians encamped behind them, and they were very afraid. 11 And they said to Moses, “Because there were no graves in Egypt, have you taken us away to die in the wilderness? Therefore have you dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt?

11 καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς Μωυσῆν παρὰ τὸ μὴ ὑπάρχειν μνήματα ἐν γῇ Αἰγύπτῳ ἐξήγαγες ἡμᾶς θανατῶσαι ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ; τί τοῦτο ἐποίησας ἡμῖν ἐξαγαγὼν ἐξ Αἰγύπτου;	11 καὶ εἶπαν πρὸς Μωυσῆν· παρὰ τὸ μὴ ὑπάρχειν μνήματα ἐν γῇ Αἰγύπτῳ ἐξήγαγες ἡμᾶς θανατῶσαι ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ; τί τοῦτο ἐποίησας ἡμῖν ἐξαγαγὼν ἐξ Αἰγύπτου;
11 And they said to Moses, “Did you bring us out to put us to death in this wilderness because no graves existed in Aigypt’s land? 13 And Moses said to the people, “Don’t fear, stand still, and see the salvation of Yahweh, which he will show to you today; for the Egyptians whom you have seen today, you shall see them again no more forever.

13 εἶπεν δὲ Μωυσῆς πρὸς τὸν λαόν θαρσεῖτε· στῆτε καὶ ὁρᾶτε τὴν σωτηρίαν τὴν παρὰ τοῦ θεοῦ, ἣν ποιήσει ἡμῖν σήμερον· ὃν τρόπον γὰρ ἑωράκατε τοὺς Αἰγυπτίους σήμερον, οὐ προσθήσεσθε ἔτι ἰδεῖν αὐτοὺς εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα χρόνον·	13 εἶπε δὲ Μωυσῆς πρὸς τὸν λαόν· θαρσεῖτε, στῆτε καὶ ὁρᾶτε τὴν σωτηρίαν τὴν παρὰ τοῦ Κυρίου, ἣν ποιήσει ἡμῖν σήμερον· ὃν τρόπον γὰρ ἑωράκατε τοὺς Αἰγυπτίους σήμερον, οὐ προσθήσεσθε ἔτι ἰδεῖν αὐτοὺς εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα χρόνον·
13 But Moses said to the people, “Be encouraged! Stand, and see the deliverance from God that he will do for you today. For as you have seen the Aigyptians today, you shall not ever again see them time eternal.	13 But Moses said to the people, “Be encouraged! 15 And Yahweh said to Moses, “Why cry you to me? Speak to the sons of Israēl, that they go forward.

16 But lift you up your rod, and stretch out your hand over the sea, and divide it; and the sons of Israēl shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.

16 καὶ σὺ ἔπαρον τῇ ῥάβδῳ σου καὶ ἔκτεινον τὴν χεῖρά σου ἐπὶ τὴν θάλασσαν καὶ ῥῆξον αὐτήν, καὶ εἰσελθάτωσαν οἱ υἱοὶ Ἰσραὴλ εἰς μέσον τῆς θαλάσσης κατὰ τὸ ξηρόν.	16 καὶ σὺ ἔπαρον τῇ ῥάβδῳ σου καὶ ἔκτεινον τὴν χεῖρά σου ἐπὶ τὴν θάλασσαν καὶ ῥῆξον αὐτήν, καὶ εἰσελθάτωσαν οἱ υἱοὶ Ἰσραὴλ εἰς μέσον τῆς θαλάσσης κατὰ τὸ ξηρόν.

17 And I, behold, I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, and they shall follow them; and I will get me honour on Pharaoh, and on all his army, on his chariots, and on his horsemen.

17 And Look! I will harden the heart of Pharaō and all the Aigyptians, and they will enter in after them. 19 And the angel of God, which went before the camp of Israēl, removed and went behind them; and the pillar of the cloud went from before their face, and stood behind them.

19 ἐξῆρεν δὲ ὁ ἄγγελος τοῦ θεοῦ ὁ προπορευόμενος τῆς παρεμβολῆς τῶν υἱῶν Ἰσραὴλ καὶ ἐπορεύθη ἐκ τῶν ὄπισθεν ἐξῆρεν δὲ καὶ ὁ στῦλος τῆς νεφέλης ἀπὸ προσώπου αὐτῶν καὶ ἔστη ἐκ τῶν ὀπίσω αὐτῶν.	19 ἐξῆρε ἐξῆρε δὲ ὁ ἄγγελος τοῦ Θεοῦ ὁ προπορευόμενος τῆς παρεμβολῆς τῶν υἱῶν Ἰσραὴλ καὶ ἐπορεύθης ἐκ τῶν ὄπισθεν· ἐξῆρε δὲ καὶ ὁ στῦλος τῆς νεφέλης ἀπὸ προσώπου αὐτῶν καὶ ἔστη ἐκ τῶν ὀπίσω αὐτῶν.

20 And it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israēl; and it was a cloud and darkness to them, but it gave light by night to these; so that the one didn’t come near the other all the night.

20 And it entered between the camp of the Aigyptians and between the camp of Israēl. 21 And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and Yahweh caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.

21 ἐξέτεινεν δὲ Μωυσῆς τὴν χεῖρα ἐπὶ τὴν θάλασσαν, καὶ ὑπήγαγεν κύριος τὴν θάλασσαν ἐν ἀνέμῳ νότῳ βιαίῳ ὅλην τὴν νύκτα καὶ ἐποίησεν τὴν θάλασσαν ξηράν, καὶ ἐσχίσθη τὸ ὕδωρ.	21 ἐξέτεινε δὲ Μωυσῆς τὴν χεῖρα ἐπὶ τὴν θάλασσαν, καὶ ὑπήγαγε Κύριος τὴν θάλασσαν ἐν ἀνέμῳ νότῳ βιαίῳ ὅλην τὴν νύκτα καὶ ἐποίησε τὴν θάλασσαν ξηράν, καὶ ἐσχίσθη τὸ ὕδωρ.
