1 And Balaam said to Balak, “Build seven altars for me here, and prepare seven oxen and seven rams for me here.”
1 And Balaam said to Balak, “Build seven altars for me here, and prepare seven calves, and seven rams for me here.” | 1 And Balaam said to Balak, “Build seven altars for me here, and prepare seven calves, and seven rams for me here.” |
2 And Balak did as Balaam had spoken; and Balak and Balaam offered on every altar a bullock and a ram.
2 And Balak did in the way Balaam told him; and he offered up a calf and a ram on the altar. | 2 And Balak did in the way Balaam told him; and he offered up a calf and a ram on the altar. |
3 And Balaam said to Balak, “Stand by your burnt offering, and I will go; perhaps Yahweh will come to meet me; and whatever he shows me I will tell you.” And he went to a high place.

3 And Balaam said to Balak, “Stand by your sacrifice, and I will go if God will appear to me in a meeting. And the word which he shall show me, I will report to you.” And Balak stood by his sacrifice. And Balaam went to inquire of God; and he went straight ahead, | 3 And Balaam said to Balak, “Stand by your sacrifice, and I will go if God will appear to me in a meeting. And the word which he shall show me, I will report to you.” And Balak stood by his sacrifice. And Balaam went to inquire of God; and he went straight ahead, |
4 And Elohim met Balaam; and he said to him, “I have prepared seven altars, and I have offered on every altar a bullock and a ram.”
4 And God appeared to Balaam; and Balaam said to him, “I have prepared the seven altars, and have offered a calf and a ram on the altar.” | 4 And God appeared to Balaam; and Balaam said to him, “I have prepared the seven altars, and have offered a calf and a ram on the altar.” |
5 And Yahweh put a word in Balaam’s mouth, and said, “Return to Balak, and thus you shall speak.”
5 And God put a word into the mouth of Balaam, and said, “After you return to Balak, you will speak thus.” | 5 And God put a word into the mouth of Balaam, and said, “After you return to Balak, you will speak thus.” |
6 And he returned to him, and, look, he stood by his burned sacrifice, he, and all the princes of Mōab.

6 And he returned to him, and this one stood over his whole burnt offerings, and all the leaders of Mōab with him; | 6 And he returned to him, and this one stood over his whole burnt offerings, and all the leaders of Mōab with him; and the Spirit of God came on him. |
7 And he took up his parable, and said, “Balak, the king of Mōab, has brought me from Aram, out of the mountains of the east, saying, ‘Come, curse Jacōb for me, and come, defy Israēl.’

8 How shall I curse, whom El hasn’t cursed? Or how shall I defy, whom Yahweh hasn’t defied?

9 For from the top of the rocks I see him, and from the hills I look at him. Look, the people shall dwell alone, and shall not be reckoned among the nations.

12 And he answered and said, “Must I not take heed to speak what Yahweh has put in my mouth?”

13 And Balak said to him, “Please come with me to another place, from which you may see them; you shall see just the utmost part of them, and shall not see them all; and curse them for me from there.”

And curse it from there for me.” | 13 And Balak said to him, “Come yet with me to another place from where you shall not see it. However, you shall see a part of them, but shall not see all. 21 He hasn’t seen iniquity in Jacōb, neither has he seen perverseness in Israēl; Yahweh his Elohim is with him, and the shout of a king is among them.

27 And Balak said to Balaam, “Please come; I will bring you to another place; perhaps it will please Elohim that you may curse me them from there.”

29 And Balaam said to Balak, “Build seven altars for me here, and prepare seven bullocks and seven rams for me here.”
29 And Balaam said to Balak, “build seven altars here for me, and prepare seven calves, and seven rams for me here.” | 29 And Balaam said to Balak, “build seven altars here for me, and prepare seven calves, and seven rams for me here.” |
30 And Balak did as Balaam had said, and offered a bullock and a ram on eacj altar.
