1 And Jōsēph was unable to refrain himself with all those who were standing by him, but said, “Send all away from me.” And no one stood by Jōsēph any longer when he was making himself known to his brothers. | 1 And Jōsēph was unable to refrain himself with all those who were standing by him, but said, “Send all away from me.” And no one stood by Jōsēph any longer when he was making himself known to his brothers. |
2 And he wept aloud; and the Egyptians and the house of Pharaoh heard.

2 And he sent forth his voice with weeping; now all the Aigyptians heard it, and it came to be heard in the household of Pharaō. | 2 And he sent forth his voice with weeping; now all the Aigyptians heard it, and it came to be heard in the household of Pharaō. |
3 And Joseph said to his brothers, “I am Joseph; does my father yet live?” And his brothers couldn’t answer him; for they were troubled at his presence.

4 And Joseph said to his brothers, “Come near to me, please.” And they came near. And he said, “I am Joseph your brother, whom you sold into Egypt.

4 Then Jōsēph said to his brothers, “Approach to me.” And they approached. And he said, “I am Jōsēph, your brother whom you sold into Aigypt. | 4 Then Jōsēph said to his brothers, “Approach to me.” And they approached. And he said, “I am Jōsēph, your brother whom you sold into Aigypt. |
5 Now therefore don’t be grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that you sold me here; for God sent me before you to preserve life.
5 Now therefore don’t be distressed nor let it seem severe to you that you sold me here, for God sent me before you for life. | 5 Now therefore don’t be distressed nor let it seem severe to you that you sold me here, for God sent me before you for life. |
6 For these two years has the famine been in the land; and yet there are five years, in which there shall neither be planting nor harvest.
6 For famine is on the land this second year, and there are still five years remaining in which there will be neither ploughing, nor harvesting. | 6 For famine is on the land this second year, and there are still five years remaining in which there will be neither ploughing, nor harvesting. |
7 And God sent me before you to preserve you a posterity in the earth, and to save your lives by a great deliverance.
7 For God sent me before you, to leave behind a remnant of you on the land and to nourish a great remnant of you.\ | 7 For God sent me before you, to leave behind a remnant of you on the land and to nourish a great remnant of you.\ |
8 So now it wasn’t you who sent me here, but God; and he has made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house, and a ruler throughout all the land of Egypt.
8 Now therefore it is not you who have sent me here, but rather God, and he made me like a father to Pharaō and lord of all his house and ruler over all Aigypt’s land. | 8 Now therefore it is not you who have sent me here, but rather God, and he made me like a father to Pharaō and lord of all his house and ruler over all Aigypt’s land. |
9 Hurry and go up to my father, and say to him, ‘Thus says your son Joseph, “God has made me lord of all Egypt: come down to me, don’t wait.
9 So hurry, go up to my father, and say to him, ‛This is what your son Jōsēph says, “God made me lord of all Aigypt’s land; so come down to me, and don’t remain. | 9 So hurry, go up to my father, and say to him, ‛This is what your son Jōsēph says, “God made me lord of all Aigypt’s land; so come down to me, and don’t remain. |
10 And you shall dwell in the land of Goshen, and you shall be near to me, you, and your children, and your children’s children, and your flocks, and your herds, and all that you have.
10 And you shall settle in Gesem’s land of Arabia, and you shall be near me, you and your sons and your son’s sons, your sheep and your cattle and as much as you have, | 10 And you shall settle in Gesem’s land of Arabia, and you shall be near me, you and your sons and your son’s sons, your sheep and your cattle and as much as you have, |
11 And there will I nourish you; for yet there are five years of famine; lest you, and your household, and all that you have, come to poverty.”’
11 and I will nourish you there—for there is famine for five more years—lest you be obliterated, you and your sons and all your possessions.’ | 11 and I will nourish you there (for there is famine for five more years) lest you be obliterated, you and your sons and all your possessions.’ |
12 And, behold, your eyes see, and the eyes of my brother Benjamin, that it is my mouth who speaks to you.
12 Look! Your eyes and the eyes of Benjamin my brother see that it is my mouth that speaks to you. | 12 Look! Your eyes and the eyes of Benjamin my brother see that it is my mouth that speaks to you. |
13 And you shall tell my father of all my glory in Egypt, and of all that you have seen; and you shall hurry and bring down my father here.”
13 So report to my father all my glory in Aigypt and how much you have seen and hurry; bring my father down here.” | 13 So report to my father all my glory in Aigypt and how much you have seen and hurry; bring my father down here.” |
14 And he fell on his brother Benjamin’s neck, and wept; and Benjamin wept on his neck.
14 And when he fell on his brother Benjamin’s neck, he wept on him, and Benjamin wept on his neck. | 14 And when he fell on his brother Benjamin’s neck, he wept on him, and Benjamin wept on his neck. |
15 Moreover he kissed all his brothers, and wept on them; and after that his brothers talked with him.
15 And when he kissed all his brothers, he wept on them, and after that his brothers spoke to him. | 15 And when he kissed all his brothers, he wept on them, and after that his brothers spoke to him. |
16 And the fame of it was heard in Pharaoh’s house, saying, “Joseph’s brothers are come”; and it pleased Pharaoh well, and his servants.

21 And the sons of Israēl did so; and Joseph gave them wagons, according to the commandment of Pharaoh, and gave them provision for the way.

23 And to his father he sent after this manner: ten donkeys loaded with the good things of Egypt, and ten she donkeys loaded with grain and bread and food for his father along the way.

24 So he sent his brothers away, and they departed; and he said to them, “See that you fall not out by the way.”

24 Then he sent his brothers off, and they went, and he said to them, “Don’t become angry during the trip.” | 24 Then he sent his brothers off, and they went, and he said to them, “Don’t become angry during the trip.” |
25 And they went up out of Egypt, and came into the land of Canaan to Jacōb their father,
