Chapter 3

NASTextRec
Now there was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodēmus, a ruler of the Jews; Now there was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodēmus, a ruler of the Jews;
this one came to him at night and said to him, “Rabbi, we know that you have come from God as a teacher; for no one is able to do these signs that you do unless God is with him.” this one came to Jesus at night and said to him, “Rabbi, we know that you have come from God as a teacher; for no one is able to do these signs that you do unless God is with him.”
Jesus answered and said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he is not able to see the kingdom of God.” Jesus answered and said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he is not able to see the kingdom of God.”
Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he is unable to enter into the kingdom of God. Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he is unable to enter into the kingdom of God.
Don’t be amazed that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ Don’t be amazed that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’
The wind blows where it wants and you hear its sound, but you don’t know from where it comes and to where goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.” The wind blows where it wants and you hear its sound, but you don’t know from where it comes and to where goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”
3:9 ἀπεκρίθη Νικόδημος καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ, πῶς δύναται ταῦτα γενέσθαι; 9 ἀπεκρίθη Νικόδημος καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ, πῶς δύναται ταῦτα γενέσθαι;
Nicodēmus answered and said to him, “How are these things able to be?” Nicodēmus answered and said to him, “How are these things able to be?”
3:10 ἀπεκρίθη Ἰησοῦς καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ, σὺ εἶ διδάσκαλος τοῦ Ἰσραὴλ καὶ ταῦτα οὐ γινώσκεις; 10 ἀπεκρίθη Ἰησοῦς καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ, σὺ εἶ διδάσκαλος τοῦ Ἰσραήλ, καὶ ταῦτα οὐ γινώσκεις;
Jesus answered and said to him, “Are you the teacher of Israēl and don’t know these things? Jesus answered and said to him, “Are you the teacher of Israēl and don’t know these things?
Truly, truly, I say to you that we speak what we have known and testify what we have seen, and you don’t accept our testimony. Truly, truly, I say to you that we speak what we have known and testify what we have seen, and you don’t accept our testimony.
3:12 εἰ τὰ ἐπίγεια εἶπον ὑμῖν καὶ οὐ πιστεύετε, πῶς ἐὰν εἴπω ὑμῖν τὰ ἐπουράνια πιστεύσετε; 12 εἰ τὰ ἐπίγεια εἶπον ὑμῖν, καὶ οὐ πιστεύετε, πῶς, ἐὰν εἴπω ὑμῖν τὰ ἐπουράνια, πιστεύσετε;
If I told you earthly things and you don’t believe, how will you believe if I tell you celestial things? If I told you earthly things and you don’t believe, how will you believe if I tell you celestial things?
And just as Mōsēs lifted up the snake in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up; And just as Mōsēs lifted up the snake in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up;
so that whoever believes in him will have eternal life. so that whoever believes in him should not perish, but will have eternal life.
For God didn’t send the Son into the world in order to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through him. For God didn’t send his Son into the world in order to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through him.
He who believes in him is not judged; but he who doesn’t believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the unique Son of God. He who believes in him is not judged; but he who doesn’t believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the unique Son of God.
This is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their works were evil. This is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their works were evil.
For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and doesn’t come to the Light lest his works should be exposed. For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and doesn’t come to the Light lest his works should be exposed.
But the one who does the truth comes to the Light, in order that his works may be revealed that they are performed by God.” But the one who does the truth comes to the Light, in order that his works may be revealed that they are performed by God.”
After these things Jesus came and his disciples into the land of Judea, and there he was residing with them and baptizing. After these things Jesus came and his disciples into the land of Judea, and there he was residing with them and baptizing.
Jōhn also was baptizing in Ainōn near Salim, because there was much water there; and they were arriving and were being baptized; Jōhn also was baptizing in Ainōn near Salim, because there was much water there; and they were arriving and were being baptized.
Therefore there arose an argument on the part of Jōhn’s disciples with a Jew about purification. Therefore there arose an argument on the part of Jōhn’s disciples with a Jew about purification.
And they came to Jōhn and said to him, “Rabbi, he who was with you beyond the Jordan, to whom you have testified, look, he is baptizing and all are coming to him.” And they came to Jōhn and said to him, “Rabbi, he who was with you beyond the Jordan, to whom you have testified, look, he is baptizing and all are coming to him.”
Jōhn answered and said, “A man is not able to receive anything unless it has been given to him from heaven. Jōhn answered and said, “A man is not able to receive anything unless it has been given to him from heaven.
You yourselves are my witnesses that I said, ‘I am not the Christ,’ but, ‘I have been sent ahead of him.’ You yourselves are my witnesses that I said, ‘I am not the Christ,’ but, ‘I have been sent ahead of him.’
He who has the bride is the bridegroom; but the friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices with joy because of the bridegroom’s voice. So this joy of mine has been made full. He who has the bride is the bridegroom; but the friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices with joy because of the bridegroom’s voice. So this joy of mine has been made full.
He who comes from above is above all, he who is of the earth is from the earth and speaks of the earth. He is the one who comes from heaven, [he is above all]. He who comes from above is above all, he who is of the earth is from the earth and speaks of the earth. He is the one who comes from heaven, he is above all.
What he has seen and heard, he testifies of this; and no one receives his testimony. What he has seen and heard, he testifies of this; and no one receives his testimony.
He who has received his testimony has set his seal to this, that God is true. He who has received his testimony has set his seal to this, that God is true.
For he whom God has sent speaks the words of God; for he gives the Spirit without measure. For he whom God has sent speaks the words of God; for he gives the Spirit of God without measure.
The Father loves the Son and has given all things into his hand. The Father loves the Son and has given all things into his hand.
He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who doesn’t believe the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.” He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who doesn’t believe the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.”
