Deuteronomy

1 [MT 28:69] These are the words of the covenant, which Yahweh commanded Moses to make with the sons of Israēl in the land of Moab, besides the covenant which he made with them in Horeb.”

2 [MT 29:1] And Moses called to all Israēl, and said to them, “You have seen all that Yahweh did before your eyes in the land of Egypt to Pharaoh, and to all his servants, and to all his land;

4 [MT 29:3] Yet Yahweh hasn’t given you a heart to perceive, and eyes to see, and ears to hear, to this day.

5 [MT 29:4] And I have led you 40 years in the wilderness; your clothes have not worn out on you, and your shoes have not worn out on your foot.

6 [MT 29:5] You haven’t eaten bread, neither have you drunk wine or beer; that you might know that I am Yahweh your Elohim.

7 [MT 29:6] And when you came to this place, Sihon the king of Heshbon, and Og the king of Bashan, came out against us to battle, and we smote them.

7 καὶ ἤλθετε ἕως τοῦ τόπου τούτου, καὶ ἐξῆλθεν Σηὼν βασιλεὺς Ἐσεβὼν καὶ Ὢγ βασιλεὺς τῆς Βασὰν εἰς συνάντησιν ἡμῖν ἐν πολέμῳ, καὶ ἐπατάξαμεν αὐτοὺς	7 καὶ ἤλθετε ἕως τοῦ τόπου τούτου, καὶ ἐξῆλθε Σηὼν βασιλεὺς Ἐσεβὼν καὶ Ὢγ βασιλεὺς Βασὰν εἰς συνάντησιν ἡμῖν ἐν πολέμῳ, καὶ ἐπατάξαμεν αὐτοὺς

8 [MT 29:7] And we took their land, and gave it for an inheritance to the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to the half tribe of Manasseh.

9 [MT 29:8] Keep therefore the words of this covenant, and do them, that you may prosper in all that you do.

10 [MT 29:9] You stand this day all of you before Yahweh your Elohim; your captains of your tribes, your elders, and your officers, with all the men of Israēl,

11 [MT 29:10] your little ones, your wives, and your stranger who is in your camp, from the one who chops your wood to the one who draws your water.

12 [MT 29:11] That you should enter into a covenant with Yahweh your Elohim, and into his oath, which Yahweh your Elohim makes with you this day.

13 [MT 29:12] That he may establish you today for a people to himself, and that he may be Elohim to you, as he has said to you, and as he has sworn to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacōb.

14 [MT 29:13] Neither with you only do I make this covenant and this oath;

15 [MT 29:14] but with him who stands here with us this day before Yahweh our Elohim, and also with him who is not here with us this day.

15 ἀλλὰ καὶ τοῖς ὧδε οὖσι μεθ’ ἡμῶν σήμερον ἐναντίον κυρίου τοῦ θεοῦ ὑμῶν καὶ τοῖς μὴ οὖσιν μεθ’ ἡμῶν ὧδε σήμερον.	15 ἀλλὰ καὶ τοῖς ὧδε οὖσι μεθ’ ὑμῶν σήμερον ἐναντίον Κυρίου τοῦ Θεοῦ ὑμῶν καὶ τοῖς μὴ οὖσι μεθ’ ὑμῶν ὧδε σήμερον.
15 but also with those who are here with us today before our Lord God and with those who are not here with us today,	15 but also with those who are here with you today before your Lord God and with those who are not here with you today,

16 [MT 29:15] (For you know how we have dwelt in the land of Egypt; and how we came through the nations which you passed by;

17 [MT 29:16] and you have seen their abominations, and their idols, wood and stone, silver and gold, which were among them:)

17 καὶ εἴδετε τὰ βδελύγματα αὐτῶν καὶ τὰ εἴδωλα αὐτῶν, ξύλον καὶ λίθον, ἀργύριον καὶ χρυσίον, ἅ ἐστιν παρ’ αὐτοῖς.	17 καὶ ἴδετε τὰ βδελύγματα αὐτῶν καὶ τὰ εἴδωλα αὐτῶν, ξύλον καὶ λίθον, ἀργύριον καὶ χρυσίον, ἅ ἔστι παρ’ αὐτοῖς.

18 [MT 29:17] Lest there should be among you a man, or a woman, or family, or tribe, whose heart turns away this day from Yahweh our Elohim, to go and serve the gods of these nations; lest there should be among you a root that bears poison and wormwood;

18 μή τίς ἐστιν ἐν ὑμῖν ἀνὴρ ἢ γυνὴ ἢ πατριὰ ἢ φυλή, τίνος ἡ διάνοια ἐξέκλινεν ἀπὸ κυρίου τοῦ θεοῦ ὑμῶν πορεύεσθαι λατρεύειν τοῖς θεοῖς τῶν ἐθνῶν ἐκείνων; μή τίς ἐστιν ἐν ὑμῖν ῥίζα ἄνω φύουσα ἐν χολῇ καὶ πικρίᾳ;	18 μή τίς ἐστιν ἐν ὑμῖν ἀνὴρ ἢ γυνὴ ἢ πατριὰ ἢ φυλή, τίνος ἡ διάνοια ἐξέκλινεν ἀπὸ Κυρίου τοῦ Θεοῦ ὑμῶν πορεύεσθαι λατρεύειν τοῖς θεοῖς τῶν ἐθνῶν ἐκείνων; μὴ τίς ἐστιν ἐν ὑμῖν ῥίζα ἄνω φύουσα ἐν χολῇ καὶ πικρίᾳ;
18 Who is there among you, man or woman or family or tribe, whose mind has turned away from our Lord God, to go to serve the gods of those nations? 19 [MT 29:18] and it will happen when he hears the words of this curse, that he will bless himself in his heart, saying, ‘I shall have peace, though I walk in the imagination of my heart, to add drunkenness to thirst.’

19 καὶ ἔσται ἐὰν ἀκούσῃ τὰ ῥήματα τῆς ἀρᾶς ταύτης καὶ ἐπιφημίσηται ἐν τῇ καρδίᾳ αὐτοῦ λέγων ὅσιά μοι γένοιτο ὅτι ἐν τῇ ἀποπλανήσει τῆς καρδίας μου πορεύσομαι, ἵνα μὴ συναπολέσῃ ὁ ἁμαρτωλὸς τὸν ἀναμάρτητον,	19 καὶ ἔσται ἐὰν ἀκούσῃ τὰ ῥήματα τῆς ἀρᾶς ταύτης καὶ ἐπιφημίσηται ἐν τῇ καρδίᾳ αὐτοῦ λέγων· ὅσιά μοι γένοιτο, ὅτι ἐν τῇ ἀποπλανήσει τῆς καρδίας μου πορεύσομαι, ἵνα μὴ συναπολέσῃ ὁ ἁμαρτωλὸς τὸν ἀναμάρτητον.

20 [MT 29:19] Yahweh won’t spare him, but then the anger of Yahweh and his jealousy shall smoke against that man, and all the curses that are written in this scroll shall lie on him, and Yahweh shall blot out his name from under heaven.

20 οὐ μὴ θελήσῃ ὁ θεὸς εὐιλατεῦσαι αὐτῷ, ἀλλ’ ἢ τότε ἐκκαυθήσεται ὀργὴ κυρίου καὶ ὁ ζῆλος αὐτοῦ ἐν τῷ ἀνθρώπῳ ἐκείνῳ, καὶ κολληθήσονται ἐν αὐτῷ πᾶσαι αἱ ἀραὶ τῆς διαθήκης ταύτης αἱ γεγραμμέναι ἐν τῷ βιβλίῳ τοῦ νόμου τούτου, καὶ ἐξαλείψει κύριος τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ ἐκ τῆς ὑπὸ τὸν οὐρανόν·	20 οὐ μὴ θελήσει ὁ Θεὸς εὐϊλατεῦσαι αὐτῷ, ἀλλ’ ἢ τότε ἐκκαυθήσεται ὀργὴ Κυρίου καὶ ὁ ζῆλος αὐτοῦ ἐν τῷ ἀνθρώπῳ ἐκείνῳ, καὶ κολληθήσονται ἐν αὐτῷ πᾶσαι αἱ ἀραὶ τῆς διαθήκης ταύτης αἱ γεγραμμέναι ἐν τῷ βιβλίῳ τοῦ νόμου τούτου, καὶ ἐξαλείψει Κύριος τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ ἐκ τῆς ὑπὸ τὸν οὐρανόν·
20 God doesn’t want to pardon him, but the Lord’s wrath and his zeal will then explode against that man. 21 [MT 29:20] And Yahweh shall separate him for evil out of all the tribes of Israēl, according to all the curses of the covenant that are written in this scroll of the law.

21 καὶ διαστελεῖ αὐτὸν κύριος εἰς κακὰ ἐκ πάντων τῶν υἱῶν Ἰσραὴλ κατὰ πάσας τὰς ἀρὰς τῆς διαθήκης τὰς γεγραμμένας ἐν τῷ βιβλίῳ τοῦ νόμου τούτου.	21 καὶ διαστελεῖ αὐτὸν Κύριος εἰς κακὰ ἐκ πάντων υἱῶν Ἰσραὴλ κατὰ πάσας τὰς ἀρὰς τῆς διαθήκης τὰς γεγραμμένας ἐν τῷ βιβλίῳ τοῦ νόμου τούτου.

22 [MT 29:21] So that the generation to come of your children who shall rise up after you, and the stranger who shall come from a far land, shall say, when they see the plagues of that land, and the sicknesses which Yahweh has laid on it;

22 καὶ ἐροῦσιν ἡ γενεὰ ἡ ἑτέρα, οἱ υἱοὶ ὑμῶν, οἳ ἀναστήσονται μεθ’ ὑμᾶς, καὶ ὁ ἀλλότριος, ὃς ἄν ἔλθῃ ἐκ γῆς μακρόθεν, καὶ ὄψονται τὰς πληγὰς τῆς γῆς ἐκείνης καὶ τὰς νόσους αὐτῆς, ἃς ἀπέστειλεν κύριος ἐπ’ αὐτήν	22 καὶ ἐροῦσιν ἡ γενεὰ ἡ ἑτέρα, οἱ υἱοὶ ὑμῶν, οἳ ἀναστήσονται μεθ’ ὑμᾶς, καὶ ὁ ἀλλότριος, ὃς ἄν ἔλθῃ ἐκ γῆς μακροθυμεῖ, καὶ ὄψονται τὰς πληγὰς τῆς γῆς ἐκείνης καὶ τὰς νόσους αὐτῆς, ἃς ἀπέστειλε Κύριος ἐπ’ αὐτήν,

23 [MT 29:22] ‘All its land is brimstone, and salt, and burning, that it is not sown, nor bears, nor any grass grows in it, like the overthrow of Sodom, and Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboim, which Yahweh overthrew in his anger, and in his wrath.’

24 [MT 29:23] Even all nations shall say, ‘Why has Yahweh done thius to this land? What does the heat of this great anger mean?’

25 [MT 29:24] Then men shall say, ‘Because they have forsaken the covenant of Yahweh Elohim of their fathers, which he made with them when he brought them forth out of the land of Egypt.

28 [MT 29:27] And Yahweh rooted them out of their land in anger, and in wrath, and in great indignation, and cast them into another land, as it is this day.’
