33 So shall my righteousness answer for me in time to come, when it shall come for my hire before your face: everyone who is not speckled and spotted among the goats, and brown among the sheep, that shall be counted stolen with me.”

35 And on that day, while he separated, he separated the speckled and partly white male goats and all the speckled and partly white female goats, and all which was white among them and all that was grey among the lambs, and he gave them into the hand of his sons. 35 And on that day, while he separated, he separated the speckled and partly white male goats and all the speckled and partly white female goats, and all which was white among them and all that was grey among the lambs, and he gave them into the hand of his sons.

36 And he set three days’ journey between himself and Jacōb; and Jacōb fed the rest of Laban’s flocks.

36 And he put a distance of a three days’ journey between them and Jacōb. And Jacōb tended Laban’s sheep that were left behind. 36 And he put a distance of a three days’ journey between them and Jacōb. And Jacōb tended Laban’s sheep that were left behind.

37 And Jacōb took rods of green poplar, and of the hazel and chestnut tree; and peeled white streaks in them, and made the white appear which was in the rods.

37 And Jacōb took for himself green rods of a poplar tree and walnut and plane-tree; and Jacōb stripped white stripes in them; and tearing away the green. And the white stripe which he had made appeared alternate on the rods. 37 And Jacōb took for himself green rods of a poplar tree and walnut and plane-tree; and Jacōb stripped white stripes in them; and tearing away the green. And the white stripe which he had made appeared alternate on the rods.

38 And he set the rods which he had peeled before the flocks in the gutters in the watering troughs when the flocks came to drink, that they should conceive when they came to drink.

38 And he placed the rods which he had peeled, channels of the watering-troughs of water, in order that when the sheep would come to drink in front of the rods, as they came for drinking, 38 And he placed the rods which he had peeled, channels of the watering-troughs of water, in order that when the sheep would come to drink in front of the rods, as they came for drinking, the sheep might go into sexual-heat at the rods.

39 And the flocks conceived before the rods, and brought forth cattle ringstraked, speckled, and spotted.

39 the sheep might go into sexual-heat at the rods. So the sheep gave birth to partly white and variegated and ash-coloured spotted. 39 And the sheep were in sexual-heat at the rods and the sheep gave birth to partly white and variegated and ash-coloured spotted.

40 And Jacōb separated the lambs, and set the faces of the flocks toward the ringstraked, and all the brown in the flock of Laban; and he put his own flocks by themselves, and put them not to Laban’s cattle.

40 And Jacōb separated the lambs, and set before the sheep a partly white ram, and every variegated one among the lambs, and he separated flocks for himself alone, and didn’t mix them with Laban’s sheep. 40 And Jacōb separated the lambs, and set before the sheep a partly white ram, and every variegated one among the lambs, and he separated flocks for himself alone, and didn’t mix them with Laban’s sheep.

41 And it happened, whenever the stronger cattle conceived, that Jacōb laid the rods before the eyes of the cattle in the gutters, that they might conceive among the rods.

41 And it happened in the season in which the sheep came into sexual heat, as they were conceiving in the womb, Jacōb put the rods in the channels before the sheep, that they might come into sexual heat opposite the rods. 41 And it happened in the season in which the sheep came into sexual heat, as they were conceiving in the womb, Jacōb put the rods in the channels before the sheep, that they might come into sexual heat opposite the rods.

42 But when the cattle were feeble, he put them not in; so the feebler were Laban’s, and the stronger Jacōb’s.

42 But when the sheep would give birth, he wouldn’t place them; and it came about that the unmarked ones were Laban’s, and the marked ones were Jakōb’s. 42 But when the sheep would give birth, he wouldn’t place them; and it came about that the unmarked ones were Laban’s, and the marked ones were Jakōb’s.

43 And the man increased exceedingly, and had much cattle, and maidservants, and menservants, and camels, and donkeys.

43 And the man became very, very rich, and he had many cattle, and oxen, and male servants, and female-servants, and camels, and donkeys. 43 And the man became very, very rich, and he had many cattle, and oxen, and male servants, and female-servants, and camels, and donkeys.
