David in Old Age

1 Now king David was old and stricken in years; and they covered him with clothes, but he got no heat.

1 And king David was old and advanced in days, and they used to cover him with clothes, but he wasn’t warmed. 1 And king David was old and advanced in days, and they used to cover him with clothes, but he wasn’t warmed.

2 Therefore his servants said to him, Let there be sought for my lord the king a young virgin; and let her stand before the king, and let her cherish him, and let her lie in your bosom, that my lord the king may get heat.

2 And his servants said, “Let them search for a young virgin for our lord the king, and she shall attend to the king, and shall be warming him, and lie with him, and our lord the king shall be warmed.” 2 And his servants said, “Let them search for a young virgin for our lord the king, and she shall attend to the king, and shall be warming him, and lie with him, and our lord the king shall be warmed.”

3 So they sought for a fair damsel throughout all the coasts of Israēl, and found Abishag a Shunammite, and brought her to the king.

3 So they searched for a beautiful girl from every border of Israēl; and they found Abisak the Sōmanite, and they brought her to the king. 3 So they searched for a beautiful girl from every border of Israēl; and they found Abisag the Sōmanite, and they brought her to the king.

4 And the damsel was very fair, and cherished the king, and ministered to him; but the king didn’t know her.

4 And the girl was beautiful very much so, and she was keeping the king warm, and ministered to him, but the king didn’t know her. 4 And the girl was beautiful very much so, and she was keeping the king warm, and ministered to him, but the king didn’t know her.

5 Then Adonijah the son of Haggith exalted himself, saying, I will be king; and he prepared him chariots and horsemen, and 50 men to run before him.

5 And Adōnias the son of Aggith kept exalting himself, saying, “I will be king”; and he prepared for himself chariots and horses, and 50 men to run before him. 5 And Adōnias the son of Aggith kept exalting himself, saying, “I will be king”; and he prepared for himself chariots and horses, and 50 men to run before him.

6 And his father had not displeased him at any time in saying, Why have you done so? And he also was a very good man; and his mother gave birth to him after Absalom.

6 καὶ οὐκ ἀπεκώλυσεν αὐτὸν πατὴρ αὐτοῦ οὐδέποτε λέγων διὰ τί σὺ ἐποίησας;
6 καὶ οὐκ ἀπεκώλυσεν αὐτὸν πατὴρ αὐτοῦ οὐδέποτε λέγων· διατὶ σὺ ἐποίησας;
6 And his father never at any time hindered him, saying, “Why have you done thus?” and he was also very handsome in appearance, and his mother gave birth to him after Abessalōm. 6 And his father never at any time checked him, saying, “Why have you done thus?” and he was also very handsome in appearance, and his mother gave birth to him after Abessalōm.

7 And he conferred with Joab the son of Zeruiah, and with Abiathar the priest; and they following Adonijah helped him.

7 And his communications began with Jōab the son of Sarouias, and with Abiathar the priest, and they were heping behind Adōnias. 7 And his communications began with Jōab the son of Sarouias, and with Abiathar the priest, and they were heping behind Adōnias.

8 But Zadok the priest, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and Nathan the prophet, and Shimei, and Rei, and the mighty men who belonged to David, were not with Adonijah.

8 But Sadōk the priest, and Banaias the son of Jōdae, and Nathan the prophet, and Semei, and Rhēi, and the mighty men of David, were not behind Adōniou. 8 But Sadōk the priest, and Banaias the son of Jōdae, and Nathan the prophet, and Semei, and Rhēi, and the mighty men of David, were not behind Adōniou.

9 And Adonijah sacrificed sheep and oxen and fat cattle by the stone of Zoheleth, which is by En-rogel, and called all his brothers the king’s sons, and all the men of Judah the king’s servants.

9 And Adōnias sacrificed sheep and calves and lambs by the stone of Zōeleth, which was near Rhōgēl; and he called all his brothers, and all the adult men of Jouda, servants of the king. 9 And Adōnias sacrificed sheep and calves and lambs by the stone of Zoelethi, which was near Rhogēl; and he called all his brothers, and all the adult men of Jouda, servants of the king.

10 But he didn’t call Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah, and the mighty men, and Solomon his brother.

10 But he didn’t call Nathan the prophet, and Banaian, and the mighty men, and Salōmōn his brother. 10 But he didn’t call Nathan the prophet, and Banaian, and the mighty men, and Salōmōn his brother.

Nathan and Bathsheba

11 Therefore Nathan spoke to Bath-sheba the mother of Solomon, saying, Haven’t you heard that Adonijah the son of Haggith reigns, and David our lord doesn’t know it?

11 Καὶ εἶπεν Νάθαν πρὸς Βηρσαβεὲ μητέρα Σαλωμὼν λέγων Οὐκ ἤκουσας ὅτι ἐβασίλευσεν Ἀδωνίας υἱὸς Ἀγγίθ;
11 Καὶ εἶπε Νάθαν πρὸς Βηρσαβεὲ μητέρα Σαλωμὼν λέγων· οὐκ ἤκουσας ὅτι ἐβασίλευσεν Ἀδωνίας υἱὸς Ἀγγίθ;
11 And Nathan spoke to Bērsabee the mother of Salōmōn, saying, “Didn’t you hear that Adōnias the son of Aggith reigns, and our lord David doesn’t know it? 11 And Nathan spoke to Bērsabee the mother of Salōmōn, saying, “Didn’t you hear that Adōnias the son of Aggith reigns, and our lord David doesn’t know it?

12 Now therefore come, let me, please, give you counsel, that you may save your own life, and the life of your son Solomon.

12 And now come, I will advise advice to you therefore and deliver your life, and the life of your son Salōmōn. 12 And now come, I will advise advice to you therefore and deliver your life, and the life of your son Salōmōn.

13 Go and get you in to king David, and say to him, Didn’t you, my lord, Oh king, swear to your handmaid, saying, Assuredly Solomon your son shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne? Why then does Adonijah reign?

13 δεῦρο εἴσελθε πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα Δαυὶδ καὶ ἐρεῖς πρὸς αὐτὸν λέγουσα Οὐχὶ σύ, κύριέ μου βασιλεῦ, ὤμοσας τῇ δούλῃ σου λέγων ὅτι Σαλωμὼν υἱός σου βασιλεύσει μετ’ ἐμὲ καὶ αὐτὸς καθιεῖται ἐπὶ τοῦ θρόνου μου;
καὶ τί ὅτι ἐβασίλευσεν Ἀδωνίας;
13 δεῦρο εἴσελθε πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα Δαυὶδ καὶ ἐρεῖς πρὸς αὐτὸν λέγουσα· οὐχὶ σύ, κύριέ μου βασιλεῦ, ὤμοσας τῇ δούλῃ σου λέγων ὅτι υἱός σου Σαλωμὼν βασιλεύσει μετ’ ἐμὲ καὶ αὐτὸς καθιεῖται ἐπὶ τοῦ θρόνου μου;
καὶ τί ὅτι ἐβασίλευσεν Ἀδωνίας;
13 Come here! and go in to king David, and you shall speak to him, saying, ‛Didn’t you swear to your slave, Oh my lord king saying, Your son Salōmōn shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne? Why then does Adōnias reign?’ 13 Come here! and go in to king David, and you shall speak to him, saying, ‛Didn’t you swear to your slave Oh my lord king saying, Your son Salōmōn shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne? Why then does Adōnias reign?’

14 Behold, while you are still talking there with the king, I also will come in after you, and confirm your words.

14 And look! while you are still speaking there with the king, I also will come in after you, and will complete your words.” 14 And look! while you are still speaking there with the king, I also will come in after you, and will complete your words.”

15 And Bath-sheba went in to the king into the chamber; and the king was very old; and Abishag the Shunammite ministered to the king.

15 So Bērsabee went in to the king into the chamber; and the king was very old, and Abisak the Sōmanite was ministering to the king. 15 So Bērsabee went in to the king into the chamber; and the king was very old, and Abisak the Sōmanite was ministering to the king.

16 And Bath-sheba bowed, and did obeisance to the king. And the king said, What do you want?

καὶ εἶπεν βασιλεύς Τί ἐστίν σοι;
16 καὶ ἔκυψε Βηρσαβεὲ καὶ προσεκύνησε τῷ βασιλεῖ· καὶ εἶπε βασιλεύς· τί ἔστι σοι;
16 And Bērsabee bowed, and did obeisance to the king; and the king said, “What is with you?” 16 And Bērsabee bowed, and did obeisance to the king; and the king said, “What is with you?”

17 And she said to him, My lord, you swore by Yahweh your Elohim to your handmaid, saying, Assuredly Solomon your son shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne.

17 And she said, “My lord king, you solemnly promised by the Lord your God to your slave, saying, Your son Salōmōn shall reign after me, and shall sit on my throne. 17 And she said, “My lord king, you solemnly promised by the Lord your God to your slave, saying, Your son Salōmōn shall reign after me, and shall sit on my throne.

18 And now, behold, Adonijah reigns; and now, my lord the king, you don’t know it.

18 And now, look, Adōnias reigns, and you, my lord, Oh king, don’t know it. 18 And now, look, Adōnias reigns, and you, my lord, Oh king, don’t know it.

19 And he has slain oxen and fat cattle and sheep in abundance, and has called all the sons of the king, and Abiathar the priest, and Joab the captain of the army; but he hasn’t called Solomon your servant.

19 And he has sacrificed calves and lambs and sheep in abundance, and has called all the king’s sons, and Abiathar the priest and Jōab the commander-in-chief of the army; but he didn’t called Salōmōn your servant. 19 And he has sacrificed calves and lambs and sheep in abundance, and has called all the king’s sons, and Abiathar the priest and Jōab the commander-in-chief of the army; but he didn’t called Salōmōn your servant.

20 And you, my lord, Oh king, the eyes of all Israēl are on you, that you should tell them who shall sit on the throne of my lord the king after him.

20 And you, my lord, Oh king, — the eyes of all Israēl are toward you, to tell them who shall sit on the throne of my lord the king after him. 20 And you, my lord, Oh king, — the eyes of all Israēl are toward you, to tell them who shall sit on the throne of my lord the king after him.

21 Otherwise it will happen, when my lord the king shall sleep with his fathers, that I and my son Solomon shall be counted offenders.

21 And it will happen, when my lord the king shall sleep with his fathers, that I and Salōmōn my son shall be sinners.” 21 And it will happen, when my lord the king shall sleep with his fathers, that I and Salōmōn my son shall be sinners.”

22 And, lo, while she yet talked with the king, Nathan the prophet also came in.

22 And look! while she was still talking with the king, Nathan the prophet came. 22 And look! while she was still talking with the king, Nathan the prophet came.

23 And they told the king, saying, Behold Nathan the prophet. And when he came in before the king, he bowed himself before the king with his face to the ground.

23 And it was announced to the king, “Attention, Nathan the prophet!” and he entered the king’s presence, and did obeisance to the king with his face to the ground. 23 And it was announced to the king, “Attention, Nathan the prophet!” and he entered the king’s presence, and did obeisance to the king with his face to the ground.

24 And Nathan said, My lord, Oh king, have you said, Adonijah shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne?

24 καὶ εἶπεν Νάθαν Κύριέ μου βασιλεῦ, σὺ εἶπας Ἀδωνίας βασιλεύσει ὀπίσω μου καὶ αὐτὸς καθήσεται ἐπὶ τοῦ θρόνου μου· 24 καὶ εἶπε Νάθαν· κύριέ μου βασιλεῦ, σὺ εἶπας Ἀδωνίας βασιλεύσει ὀπίσω μου καὶ αὐτὸς καθήσεται ἐπὶ τοῦ θρόνου μου;
24 And Nathan said, “My lord, Oh king, did you say, ‛Adōnias shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne’? 24 And Nathan said, “My lord, Oh king, did you say, ‛Adōnias shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne’?

25 For he is gone down this day, and has slain oxen and fat cattle and sheep in abundance, and has called all the king’s sons, and the captains of the army, and Abiathar the priest; and, behold, they eat and drink before him, and say, God save king Adonijah.

25 For he has gone down today, and has sacrificed calves and lambs and sheep in abundance, and has called all the king’s sons, and the chiefs of the army, and Abiathar the priest; and, behold, they are eating and drinking before him, and they said, ‛Let king Adōnias live.’ 25 For he has gone down today, and has sacrificed calves and lambs and sheep in abundance, and has called all the king’s sons, and the chiefs of the army, and Abiathar the priest; and, behold, they are eating and drinking before him, and they said, ‛Let king Adōnias live.’

26 But me, even me your servant, and Zadok the priest, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and your servant Solomon, he hasn’t called.

26 But he didn’t invite me your servant, and Sadōk the priest, and Banaias the son of Jōdae, and Salōmōn your servant. 26 But he didn’t invite me your servant, and Sadōk the priest, and Banaias the son of Jōdae, and Salōmōn your servant.

27 Is this thing done by my lord the king, and you haven’t shown it to your servant, who should sit on the throne of my lord the king after him?

27 εἰ διὰ τοῦ κυρίου μου τοῦ βασιλέως γέγονεν τὸ ῥῆμα τοῦτο καὶ οὐκ ἐγνώρισας τῷ δούλῳ σου τίς καθήσεται ἐπὶ τὸν θρόνον τοῦ κυρίου μου τοῦ βασιλέως μετ’ αὐτόν; 27 εἰ διὰ τοῦ κυρίου μου τοῦ βασιλέως γέγονε τὸ ῥῆμα τοῦτο καὶ οὐκ ἐγνώρισας τῷ δούλῳ σου τίς καθήσεται ἐπὶ τὸν θρόνον τοῦ κυρίου μου τοῦ βασιλέως μετ’ αὐτόν;
27 If this matter happened by the authority of my lord the king, then did you not make known to your servant who shall sit on the throne of my lord the king after him?” 27 If this matter happened by the authority of my lord the king, then did you not make known to your servant who shall sit on the throne of my lord the king after him?”

28 Then king David answered and said, Call me Bath-sheba. And she came into the king’s presence, and stood before the king.

28 And David answered and said, “Call me Bērsabee:” and she came in before the king, and stood before him. 28 And king David answered and said, “Call me Bērsabee:” and she came in before the king, and stood before him.

29 And the king swore, and said, As Yahweh lives, who has redeemed my soul out of all distress,

29 And the king solemnly promised, and said, “As the Lord lives who redeemed my soul out of all affliction, 29 And the king solemnly promised, and said, “As the Lord lives who redeemed my soul out of all affliction,

30 Even as I swore to you by Yahweh Elohim of Israēl, saying, Assuredly Solomon your son shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne instead of me; even so will I certainly do this day.

30 as I solemnly promised to you by the Lord God of Israēl, saying, ‛Salōmōn your son shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne instead of me, ’ so will I do this day.” 30 as I solemnly promised to you by the Lord God of Israēl, saying, ‛Salōmōn your son shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne instead of me, ’ so will I do this day.”

31 Then Bath-sheba bowed with her face to the earth, and did reverence to the king, and said, Let my lord king David live forever.

31 And Bērsabee bowed with her face to the ground, and did obeisance to the king, and said, “Let my lord king David live forever.” 31 And Bērsabee bowed with her face to the ground, and did obeisance to the king, and said, “Let my lord king David live forever.”

32 And king David said, Call me Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada. And they came before the king.

32 And king David said, “Call me Sadōk the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Banaian the son of Jōdae:” and they came in before the king. 32 And king David said, “Call me Sadōk the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Banaian the son of Jōdae:” and they came in before the king.

33 The king also said to them, Take with you the servants of your lord, and cause Solomon my son to ride on mine own mule, and bring him down to Gihon.

33 And the king said to them, “Take the servants of your lord with you, and mount my son Salōmōn on my own mule, and bring him down to Giōn. 33 And the king said to them, “Take the servants of your lord with you, and mount my son Salōmōn on my own mule, and bring him down to Giōn.

34 And let Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet anoint him there king over Israēl; and blow with the trumpet, and say, God save king Solomon.

34 And there let Sadōk the priest and Nathan the prophet anoint him to be king over Israēl, and sound the trumpet, and you shall say, ‛Let king Salōmōn live.’ 34 And there let Sadōk the priest and Nathan the prophet anoint him to be king over Israēl, and sound the trumpet, and you shall say, ‛Let king Salōmōn live.’

35 Then you shall come up after him, that he may come and sit on my throne; for he shall be king instead of me; and I have appointed him to be ruler over Israēl and over Judah.

35 And he shall sit on my throne, and reign instead of me; and I have commanded that he should be a ruler over Israēl and Jouda.” 35 And he shall sit on my throne, and reign instead of me; and I have commanded that he should be a ruler over Israēl and Jouda.”

36 And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada answered the king, and said, Amen: Yahweh Elohim of my lord the king say so too.

36 And Banaias the son of Jōdae answered the king and said, “May it be; may the Lord God of my lord the king confirm it. 36 And Banaias the son of Jōdae answered the king and said, “May it be; may the Lord God of my lord the king confirm it.

37 As Yahweh has been with my lord the king, even so be he with Solomon, and make his throne greater than the throne of my lord king David.

37 As the Lord was with my lord the king, so let him be with Salōmōn, and let him exalt his throne beyond the throne of my lord king David.” 37 As the Lord was with my lord the king, so let him be with Salōmōn, and let him exalt his throne beyond the throne of my lord king David.”

Solomon Anointed King

38 So Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites, and the Pelethites, went down, and caused Solomon to ride on king David’s mule, and brought him to Gihon.

38 And Sadōk the priest went down, and Nathan the prophet, and Banaias son of Jōdae, and the Chereththite, and the Pheleththite, and they mounted Salōmōn on the mule of king David, and led him away to Giōn. 38 And Sadōk the priest went down, and Nathan the prophet, and Banaias son of Jōdae, and the Cherethite, and the Phelethite, and they mounted Salōmōn on the mule of king David, and led him away to Giōn.

39 And Zadok the priest took a horn of oil out of the tent, and anointed Solomon. And they blew the trumpet; and all the people said, God save king Solomon.

39 And Sadōk the priest took the horn of oil out of the tent, and anointed Salōmōn, and trumpeted the horn; and all the people said, “Let king Salōmōn live.” 39 And Sadōk the priest took the horn of oil out of the tent, and anointed Salōmōn, and trumpeted the horn; and all the people said, “Let king Salōmōn live.”

40 And all the people came up after him, and the people piped with pipes, and rejoiced with great joy, so that the earth rent with the sound of them.

40 And all the people went up after him, and they kept dancing in choruses, and rejoicing with great joy, and the earth quaked with their voice. 40 And all the people went up after him, and they kept dancing in choruses, and rejoicing with great joy, and the earth quaked with their voice.

41 And Adonijah and all the guests who were with him heard it as they had made an end of eating. And when Joab heard the sound of the trumpet, he said, Why is this noise of the city being in an uproar?

41 Καὶ ἤκουσεν Ἀδωνίας καὶ πάντες οἱ κλητοὶ αὐτοῦ, καὶ αὐτοὶ συνετέλεσαν φαγεῖν· καὶ ἤκουσεν Ἰωὰβ τὴν φωνὴν τῆς κερατίνης καὶ εἶπεν Τίς φωνὴ τῆς πόλεως ἠχούσης; 41 Καὶ ἤκουσεν Ἀδωνίας καὶ πάντες οἱ κλητοὶ αὐτοῦ, καὶ αὐτοὶ συνετέλεσαν φαγεῖν· καὶ ἤκουσεν Ἰωὰβ τὴν φωνὴν τῆς κερατίνης καὶ εἶπε· τίς φωνὴ τῆς πόλεως ἠχούσης;
41 And Adōnias and all his guests heard, and they finished eating; and Jōab heard the sound of the trumpet, and said, “What’s the sound of the city’s roar?” 41 And Adōnias and all his guests heard, and they finished eating; and Jōab heard the sound of the trumpet, and said, “What’s the sound of the city’s roar?”

42 And while he yet spoke, behold, Jonathan the son of Abiathar the priest came; and Adonijah said to him, Come in; for you are a valiant man, and bring good tidings.

42 While he was still speaking, look, Jōnathan the son of Abiathar the priest came in; and Adōnias said, “Come in, because you are a mighty man, and you bring good news.” 42 While he was still speaking, look, Jōnathan the son of Abiathar the priest came in; and Adōnias said, “Come in, because you are a mighty man, and you bring good news.”

43 And Jonathan answered and said to Adonijah, Verily our lord king David has made Solomon king.

43 And Jōnathan answered and said, “Certainly our lord king David has made Salōmōn king, 43 And Jōnathan answered and said, “Certainly our lord king David has made Salōmōn king,

44 And the king has sent with him Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites, and the Pelethites, and they have caused him to ride on the king’s mule.

44 and the king has sent with him Sadōk the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Banaian the son of Jōdae, and the Chereththite, and the Pheleththite, and they mounted him on the king’s mule; 44 and the king has sent with him Sadōk the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Banaian the son of Jōdae, and the Chereththite, and the Pheleththite, and they mounted him on the king’s mule;

45 And Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet have anointed him king in Gihon; and they are come up from there rejoicing, so that the city rang again. This is the noise that you have heard.

45 and Sadōk the priest and Nathan the prophet anointed him in Giōn, and went up from there rejoicing, and the city resounded; this is the sound which you have heard. 45 and Sadōk the priest and Nathan the prophet anointed him in Giōn, and went up from there rejoicing, and the city resounded; this is the sound which you have heard.

46 And also Solomon sits on the throne of the kingdom.

46 And Salōmōn is seated on the throne of the kingdom. 46 And Salōmōn is seated on the throne of the kingdom.

47 And moreover the king’s servants came to bless our lord king David, saying, God make the name of Solomon better than your name, and make his throne greater than your throne. And the king bowed himself on the bed.

47 And the slaves of the king have gone in to bless our lord king David, saying, ‛May God make the name of Salōmōn better than your name, and make his throne greater than your throne;’ and the king worshipped on his bed. 47 And the slaves of the king have gone in to bless our lord king David, saying, ‛May God make the name of Salōmōn better than your name, and make his throne greater than your throne;’ and the king worshipped on his bed.

48 And also thus said the king, Blessed be Yahweh Elohim of Israēl, which has given one to sit on my throne this day, my eyes even seeing it.

48 Moreover thus said the king, ‛Blessed be the Lord God of Israēl, who has this day appointed one of my seed sitting on my throne, and my eyes see it.’ ” 48 Moreover thus said the king, ‛Blessed be the Lord God of Israēl, who has this day appointed one of my seed sitting on my throne, and my eyes see it.’ ”

49 And all the guests who were with Adonijah were afraid, and rose up, and went every man his way.

49 And all the guests of Adōnias were dismayed and rose up, and every man went his way. 49 And all the guests of Adōnias were dismayed, and every man went his way.

50 And Adonijah feared because of Solomon, and arose, and went, and caught hold on the horns of the altar.

50 And Adōnias feared the presence of Salōmōn, and arose, and departed, and took hold on the horns of the altar. 50 And Adōnias feared the presence of Salōmōn, and arose, and departed, and took hold on the horns of the altar.

51 And it was told Solomon, saying, Behold, Adonijah fears king Solomon: for, lo, he has caught hold on the horns of the altar, saying, Let king Solomon swear to me today that he won’t slay his servant with the sword.

51 And it was reported to Salōmōn, saying, “Look! Adōnias fears king Salōmōn, and holds the horns of the altar, saying, ‛Let king Salōmōn solemnly promise to me this day, that he won’t slay his servant with the sword.’ ” 51 And it was reported to Salōmōn, saying, “Look! Adōnias fears king Salōmōn, and holds the horns of the altar, saying, ‛Let Salōmōn solemnly promise to me this day, that he won’t slay his servant with the sword.’ ”

52 And Solomon said, If he will show himself a worthy man, there shall not a hair of him fall to the earth; but if wickedness shall be found in him, he shall die.

52 And Salōmōn said, “If he should be a valiant man, there shall not a hair of his fall to the ground; but if evil be found in him, he shall die.” 52 And Salōmōn said, “If he should be a valiant man, there shall not a hair of his fall to the ground; but if evil be found in him, he shall die.”

53 So king Solomon sent, and they brought him down from the altar. And he came and bowed himself to king Solomon; and Solomon said to him, Go to your house.

53 And king Salōmōn sent, and they brought him away from the altar; and he went in and did obeisance to king Salōmōn; and Salōmōn said to him, “Come on, to your house.” 53 And king Salōmōn sent, and they brought him away from the altar; and he went in and did obeisance to king Salōmōn; and Salōmōn said to him, “Come on, to your house.”
