The Widow’s Oil
1 Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets to Elisha, saying, Your servant my husband is dead; and you know that your servant did fear Yahweh; and the creditor is come to take to him my two sons to be bondmen.
1 And one of the wives of the sons of the prophets cried to Elisaie, saying, Your servant my husband is dead; and you know that your servant feared the Lord; and the creditor is come to take my two sons to be his servants. | 1 And one of the wives of the sons of the prophets cried to Elisaie, saying, Your servant my husband is dead; and you know that your servant feared the Lord; and the creditor is come to take my two sons to be his servants. |
2 And Elisha said to her, What shall I do for you? tell me, what have you in the house? And she said, Your handmaid hasn’t anything in the house, save a pot of oil.

καὶ
τί

2 And Elisaie said, What shall I do for you? tell me what you have in the house. And she said, Your servant has nothing in the house, except oil which I anoint myself. | 2 And Elisaie said, What shall I do for you? tell me what you have in the house. And she said, Your servant has nothing in the house, except oil which I anoint myself. |
3 Then he said, Go, borrow you vessels abroad of all your neighbours, even empty vessels; borrow not a few.
3 And he said to her, Go, borrow for yourself vessels without of all your neighbours, even empty vessels; borrow not a few. | 3 And he said to her, Go, borrow for yourself vessels without of all your neighbours, even empty vessels; borrow not a few. |
4 And when you are come in, you shall shut the door on you and on your sons, and shall pour out into all those vessels, and you shall set aside what is full.
4 And you shall go in and shut the door on you and on your sons, and you shall pour forth into these vessels, and remove what is filled. | 4 And you shall go in and shut the door on you and on your sons, and you shall pour forth into these vessels, and remove what is filled. |
5 So she went from him, and shut the door on her and on her sons, who brought the vessels to her; and she poured out.
5 And she departed from him, and shut the door on herself and on her sons: they brought the vessels near to her, and she poured in until the vessels were filled. | 5 And she departed from him, and shut the door on herself and on her sons: they brought the vessels near to her, and she poured in until the vessels were filled. |
6 And it came to be, when the vessels were full, that she said to her son, Bring me yet a vessel. And he said to her, There is not a vessel more. And the oil stayed.

6 And she said to her sons, Bring me yet a vessel. And they said to her, There is not a vessel more. And the oil stayed. | 6 And she said to her sons, Bring me yet a vessel. And they said to her, There is not a vessel more. And the oil stayed. |
7 Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, Go, sell the oil, and pay your debt, and live you and your children of the rest.
7 And she came and told the man of God; and Elisaie said, Go, and sell the oil, and you shall pay your debts, and you and your sons shall live of the remaining oil. | 7 And she came and told the man of God; and Elisaie said, Go, and sell the oil, and you shall pay your debts, and you and your sons shall live of the remaining oil. |
The Shunammite Woman
8 And it fell on a day, that Elisha passed to Shunem, where was a great woman; and she constrained him to eat bread. And so it was, that as oft as he passed by, he turned in to that place to eat bread.

9 And she said to her husband, Behold now, I perceive that this is a holy man of God, which passes by us continually.

20 And when he had taken him, and brought him to his mother, he sat on her knees till noon, and then died.

22 And she called to her husband, and said, Send me, please, one of the young men, and one of the donkeys, that I may run to the man of God, and come again.

24 Then she saddled a donkey, and said to her servant, Drive, and go forward; slack not your riding for me, except I bid you.
