Isaiah

1 For, behold, the Lord, Yahweh of armies, takes away from Jerusalem and from Judah the stay and the staff, the whole stay of bread, and the whole stay of water,

1 ἰδοὺ δὴ ὁ δεσπότης κύριος σαβαὼθ ἀφελεῖ ἀπὸ τῆς Ἰουδαίας καὶ ἀπὸ Ἱερουσαλὴμ ἰσχύοντα καὶ ἰσχύουσαν, ἰσχὺν ἄρτου καὶ ἰσχὺν ὕδατος,	1 Ἰδοὺ δὴ ὁ δεσπότης Κύριος σαβαὼθ ἀφελεῖ ἀπὸ τῆς Ἰουδαίας καὶ ἀπὸ Ἱερουσαλὴμ ἰσχύοντα καὶ ἰσχύουσαν, ἰσχὺν ἄρτου καὶ ἰσχὺν ὕδατος,

4 And I will give children to be their princes, and babes shall rule over them.

5 And the people shall be oppressed, everyone by another, and everyone by his neighbour: the child shall behave himself proudly against the ancient, and the base against the honourable.

6 When a man shall take hold of his brother of the house of his father, saying, You have clothing, be our ruler, and let this ruin be under your hand.

7 In that day he shall swear, saying, I won’t be a healer; for in my house is neither bread nor clothing: make me not a ruler of the people.

8 For Jerusalem is ruined, and Judah is fallen: because their tongue and their doings are against Yahweh, to provoke the eyes of his glory.

9 The show of their countenance does witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide it not. Woe to their soul! for they have rewarded evil to themselves.

9 And the shame of their face has opposed them; they have proclaimed their sin like that of Sodoma, and they have made it clear. Woe to their soul! 10 Say you to the righteous, that it shall be well with him; for they shall eat the fruit of their doings.

11 Woe to the wicked! it shall be ill with him; for the reward of his hands shall be given him.

12 As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. Oh my people, they which lead you cause you to err, and destroy the way of your paths.

12 Oh my people, your extortioners strip you clean, and your creditors lord it over you. 13 Yahweh stands up to plead, and stands to judge the people.

13 ἀλλὰ νῦν καταστήσεται εἰς κρίσιν κύριος καὶ στήσει εἰς κρίσιν τὸν λαὸν αὐτοῦ,	13 ἀλλὰ νῦν καταστήσεται εἰς κρίσιν Κύριος καὶ στήσει εἰς κρίσιν τὸν λαὸν αὐτοῦ·

14 Yahweh will enter into judgment with the ancients of his people, and the princes of it; for you have eaten up the vineyard; the spoil of the poor is in your houses.

14 The Lord himself will enter into judgment with the elders of the people and with their leaders. 15 What do you mean who beat my people to pieces, and grind the faces of the poor? Says Adonai Yahweh of armies.

16 Moreover Yahweh says, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched forth necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet.

16 τάδε λέγει κύριος ἀνθ’ ὧν ὑψώθησαν αἱ θυγατέρες Σιὼν καὶ ἐπορεύθησαν ὑψηλῷ τραχήλῳ καὶ ἐν νεύμασιν ὀφθαλμῶν καὶ τῇ πορείᾳ τῶν ποδῶν ἅμα σύρουσαι τοὺς χιτῶνας καὶ τοῖς ποσίν ἅμα παίζουσαι,	16 Τάδε λέγει Κύριος· ἀνθ’ ὧν ὑψώθησαν αἱ θυγατέρες καὶ ἐπορεύθησαν ὑψηλῷ τραχήλῳ καὶ ἐν νεύμασιν ὀφθαλμῶν καὶ τῇ πορείᾳ τῶν ποδῶν ἅμα σύρουσαι τοὺς χιτῶνας καὶ τοῖς ποσὶν ἅμα παίζουσαι,
16 This is what the Lord says. Because the daughters of Siōn were lifted up and walked with an lofty neck and with a wink of eyes, all the while flouncing their clothes to the rhythm of their feet, all the while being playful with their feet;	16 This is what the Lord says. 17 Therefore Yahweh will smite with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and Yahweh will discover their secret parts.

20 καὶ τὴν σύνθεσιν τοῦ κόσμου τῆς δόξης καὶ τοὺς χλιδῶνας καὶ τὰ ψέλια καὶ τὸ ἐμπλόκιον καὶ τὰ περιδέξια καὶ τοὺς δακτυλίους καὶ τὰ ἐνώτια	20 καὶ τὴν σύνθεσιν τοῦ κόσμου τῆς δόξης καὶ τοὺς χλιδῶνας, καὶ τὰ ψέλια καὶ τὸ ἐμπλόκιον καὶ τὰ περιδέξια καὶ τοὺς δακτυλίους καὶ τὰ ἐνώτια

21 The rings, and nose jewels,

23 The glasses, and the fine linen, and the hoods, and the vails.

24 And it will happen, that instead of sweet smell there shall be stink; and instead of a girdle a rent; and instead of well set hair baldness; and instead of a stomacher a girding of sackcloth; and burning instead of beauty.

24 καὶ ἔσται ἀντὶ ὀσμῆς ἡδείας κονιορτός, καὶ ἀντὶ ζώνης σχοινίῳ ζώσῃ καὶ ἀντὶ τοῦ κόσμου τῆς κεφαλῆς τοῦ χρυσίου φαλάκρωμα ἕξεις διὰ τὰ ἔργα σου καὶ ἀντὶ τοῦ χιτῶνος τοῦ μεσοπορφύρου περιζώσῃ σάκκον.	24 καὶ ἔσται ἀντὶ ὀσμῆς ἡδείας κονιορτός, καὶ ἀντὶ ζώνης σχοινίῳ ζώσῃ καὶ ἀντὶ τοῦ κόσμου τῆς κεφαλῆς τοῦ χρυσίου φαλάκρωμα ἕξεις διὰ τὰ ἔργα σου καὶ ἀντὶ τοῦ χιτῶνος τοῦ μεσοπορφύρου περιζώσῃ σάκκον.

25 Your men shall fall by the sword, and your mighty in the war.

26 And her gates shall lament and mourn; and she being desolate shall sit on the ground.
