Destruction of the Temple Foretold
(Mt 24.1‑2; Lk 21.5‑6)

As he was going out of the temple, one of his disciples said to him, “Teacher, look! what wonderful stones and what wonderful buildings!” As he was going out of the temple, one of his disciples said to him, “Teacher, look! what wonderful stones and what wonderful buildings!”
And Jesus said to him, “Do you see these great buildings? Not one stone will be left upon a stone which will not be torn down.” And in response to him, Jesus said, “Do you see these great buildings? Not one stone will be left upon a stone which will not be torn down.”

Beginning of Woes
(Mt 24.3‑14; Lk 21.7‑19)

13:4 εἰπὸν ἡμῖν, πότε ταῦτα ἔσται καὶ τί τὸ σημεῖον ὅταν μέλλῃ ταῦτα συντελεῖσθαι πάντα; 4 εἰπὲ ἡμῖν, πότε ταῦτα ἔσται; καὶ τί τὸ σημεῖον ὅταν μέλλῃ πάντα ταῦτα συντελεῖσθαι;
“Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign when all these things are going to be fulfilled?” “Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign when all these things shall be fulfilled?”
And Jesus began to say to them, “Watch out that no one deceives you. And in response, Jesus began to say to them, “Watch out that no one deceives you.
When you hear wars and reports of wars, don’t be disturbed; it is necessary to happen, but that is not yet the end. When you hear wars and reports of wars, don’t be disturbed; it is necessary to happen, but that is not yet the end.
For nation will rise up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; there will be earthquakes in various places; there will also be famines. These things are the beginning of birth pangs. For nation will rise up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; there will be earthquakes in various places; there will also be famines and troubles. These things are the beginning of birth pangs.
But be on your guard; they will deliver you to the courts, and you will be whipped in the synagogues, and you will stand before rulers and kings because of me, for a testimony to them. But be on your guard; for they will deliver you to the courts, and you will be whipped in the synagogues, and you will stand before rulers and kings because of me, for a testimony to them.
It is necessary for the good news to be preached first to all the nations. It is necessary for the good news to be preached first to all the nations.
When they lead you and deliver you over, don't premeditate what you are to say, but say whatever is given to you in that hour; for it is not you who speak, but it is the Holy Spirit. When they lead you and deliver you over, don't premeditate what you are to say, don’t worry, but say whatever is given to you in that hour; for it is not you who speak, but it is the Holy Spirit.
Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; and children will rise up against parents and have them put to death. Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; and children will rise up against parents and have them put to death.
You will be hated by all because of my name, but the one who endures to the end, he will be saved. You will be hated by all because of my name, but the one who endures to the end, he will be saved.

The Great Tribulation
(Mt 24.15‑28; Lk 21.20‑24)

But when you see the abomination of desolation standing where it should not be (let the reader understand), then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. But when you see the abomination of desolation which is spoken by Daniēl the prophet,[2] standing where it should not be (let the reader understand), then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.
The one who is on the rooftop must not go down, or enter to get anything out of his house; The one who is on the rooftop must not go down into the house, or enter to get anything out of his house;
But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days!
But pray that it may not happen in the winter. And pray that your flight may not happen in the winter.
For those days will be a time of tribulation such as has not occurred since the beginning of the creation which God created until now, and never will. For those days will be a time of tribulation such as has not occurred since the beginning of the creation which God created until now, and never will.
Unless the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh would be saved; but for the sake of the elect, whom he chose, he shortened the days. Unless the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh would be saved; but for the sake of the elect, whom he chose, he shortened the days.
And then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ’; or, ‘Look, he is there’; don’t believe him; And then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ’; or, ‘Look, he is there’; don’t believe him;
for false Christs and false prophets will arise, and will show signs and wonders, in order to lead astray, if possible, the elect. for false Christs and false prophets will arise, and will show signs and wonders, in order to lead astray, if possible, even the elect.
But watch out; I have foretold you everything. But watch out; Look! I have foretold you everything.

The Coming of the Son of Man
(Mt 24.29‑31; Lk 21.25‑28)

And then he will send forth the angels, and will gather together his elect from the four winds, from the farthest end of the earth to the farthest end of heaven. And then he will send forth his angels, and will gather together his elect from the four winds, from the farthest end of the earth to the farthest end of heaven.

Lesson of the Fig Tree
(Mt 24.32‑35; Lk 21.29‑33)

Now, from the fig tree, learn the parable: when its branch has already become tender and sprouts its leaves, you know that summer is near. Now, from the fig tree, learn the parable: when its branch has already become tender and sprouts its leaves, you know that summer is near.
Even so, you too, when you see these things happening, know that it is near, at the doors. Even so, you too, when you see these things happening, know that it is near, at the doors.
Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things happen. Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things happen.
The sky and the earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. The sky and the earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.

Unknown Day and Hour
(Mt 24.36‑44)

Watch out, keep awake; for you don’t know when the time will be. Watch out, keep awake, and pray; for you don’t know when the time will be.
It is like a travelling man, upon leaving his house and giving his slaves the authority, each for his work and to the doorkeeper he commanded that he should stay alert. It is like a travelling man, upon leaving his house and giving his slaves the authority, each for his work and to the doorkeeper he commanded that he should stay alert.
Therefore, be alert – for you don’t know when the master of the house is coming, whether in the evening, at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or in the morning – Therefore, be alert – for you don’t know when the master of the house is coming, whether in the evening, at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or in the morning –
in case he should come suddenly and find you sleeping. in case he should come suddenly and find you sleeping.
What I say to you I say to all, ‘Be alert!’ ” What I say to you I say to all, ‘Be alert!’ ”
