Deuteronomy

1 And Moses went and spoke these words to all Israēl.

2 And he said to them, “I am 120 years old this day; I can no more go out and come in; also Yahweh has said to me, ‘You shall not go over this Jordan.’

4 And Yahweh shall do to them as he did to Sihon and to Og, kings of the Amorites, and to the land of them, whom he destroyed.

4 καὶ ποιήσει κύριος αὐτοῖς καθὰ ἐποίησεν Σηὼν καὶ Ὤγ, τοῖς δυσὶ βασιλεῦσιν τῶν Ἀμορραίων, οἳ ἦσαν πέραν τοῦ Ἰορδάνου, καὶ τῇ γῇ αὐτῶν, καθότι ἐξωλέθρευσεν αὐτούς.	4 καὶ ποιήσει Κύριος ὁ Θεός σου αὐτοῖς καθὼς ἐποίησε Σηὼν καὶ Ὤγ, τοῖς δυσὶ βασιλεῦσι τῶν Ἀμορραίων, οἳ ἦσαν πέραν τοῦ Ἰορδάνου, καὶ τῇ γῇ αὐτῶν, καθότι ἐξωλόθρευσεν αὐτούς·

5 And Yahweh shall give them up before your face, that you may do to them according to all the commandments which I have commanded you.

6 Be strong and of a good courage, don’t fear, nor be afraid of them; for Yahweh your Elohim is the one who goes with you; he won’t fail you, nor forsake you.”

6 ἀνδρίζου καὶ ἴσχυε, μὴ φοβοῦ μηδὲ δειλία μηδὲ πτοηθῇς ἀπὸ προσώπου αὐτῶν, ὅτι κύριος ὁ θεός σου ὁ προπορευόμενος μεθ’ ὑμῶν ἐν ὑμῖν οὐ μή σὲ ἀνῇ οὔτε μή σὲ ἐγκαταλίπῃ.	6 ἀνδρίζου καὶ ἴσχυε, μὴ φοβοῦ μηδὲ δειλιάσῃς μηδὲ πτοηθῇς ἀπὸ προσώπου αὐτῶν, ὅτι Κύριος ὁ Θεός σου ὁ προπορευόμενος μεθ’ ὑμῶν ἐν ὑμῖν, οὔτε μή σε ἀνῇ, οὔτε μή σε ἐγκαταλίπῃ.

7 And Moses called to Joshua, and said to him in the sight of all Israēl, “Be strong and of a good courage; for you must go with this people to the land which Yahweh has sworn to their fathers to give them; and you shall cause them to inherit it.

9 And Moses wrote this law, and delivered it to the priests the sons of Levi, who carried the ark of the covenant of Yahweh, and to all the elders of Israēl.

9 καὶ ἔγραψεν Μωυσῆς τὰ ῥήματα τοῦ νόμου τούτου εἰς βιβλίον καὶ ἔδωκεν τοῖς ἱερεῦσιν τοῖς υἱοῖς Λευὶ τοῖς αἴρουσιν τὴν κιβωτὸν τῆς διαθήκης κυρίου καὶ τοῖς πρεσβυτέροις τῶν υἱῶν Ἰσραήλ.	9 Καὶ ἔγραψε Μωυσῆς τὰ ῥήματα τοῦ νόμου τούτου εἰς βιβλίον καὶ ἔδωκε τοῖς ἱερεῦσι τοῖς υἱοῖς Λευὶ τοῖς αἴρουσι τὴν κιβωτὸν τῆς διαθήκης Κυρίου, καὶ τοῖς πρεσβυτέροις τῶν υἱῶν Ἰσραήλ.

10 And Moses commanded them, saying, “At the end of every seven years, in the solemnity of the year of release, in the feast of tents,

10 καὶ ἐνετείλατο αὐτοῖς Μωυσῆς ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ λέγων μετὰ ἑπτὰ ἔτη ἐν καιρῷ ἐνιαυτοῦ ἀφέσεως ἐν ἑορτῇ σκηνοπηγίας	10 καὶ ἐνετείλατο Μωυσῆς αὐτοῖς ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ λέγων· μετὰ ἑπτὰ ἔτη ἐν καιρῷ ἐνιαυτοῦ ἀφέσεως ἐν ἑορτῇ σκηνοπηγίας,

11 when all Israēl comes to appear before Yahweh your Elohim in the place which he shall choose, you shall read this law before all Israēl in their hearing.

12 Gather the people together, men, and women, and children, and your stranger that is within your gates, that they may hear, and that they may learn, and fear Yahweh your Elohim, and observe to do all the words of this law.

12 ἐκκλησιάσας τὸν λαόν, τοὺς ἄνδρας καὶ τὰς γυναῖκας καὶ τὰ ἔκγονα καὶ τὸν προσήλυτον τὸν ἐν ταῖς πόλεσιν ὑμῶν, ἵνα ἀκούσωσιν καὶ ἵνα μάθωσιν φοβεῖσθαι κύριον τὸν θεὸν ὑμῶν, καὶ ἀκούσονται ποιεῖν πάντας τοὺς λόγους τοῦ νόμου τούτου·	12 ἐκκλησιάσας τὸν λαόν, τοὺς ἄνδρας καὶ τὰς γυναῖκας καὶ τὰ ἔκγονα καὶ τὸν προσήλυτον τὸν ἐν ταῖς πόλεσιν ὑμῶν, ἵνα ἀκούσωσι καὶ ἵνα μάθωσι φοβεῖσθαι Κύριον τὸν Θεὸν ὑμῶν, καὶ ἀκούσονται ποιεῖν πάντας τούς λόγους τοῦ νόμου τούτου·

13 And that their children, who haven’t known anything, may hear, and learn to fear Yahweh your Elohim, as long as you live in the land to which you go over Jordan to possess.”

14 And Yahweh said to Moses, “Behold, your days approach that you must die; call Joshua, and present yourselves in the tent of the congregation, that I may give him a charge.” And Moses and Joshua went, and presented themselves in the tent of the congregation.

14 καὶ εἶπεν κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν ἰδοὺ ἠγγίκασιν αἱ ἡμέραι τοῦ θανάτου σου· κάλεσον Ἰησοῦν καὶ στῆτε παρὰ τὰς θύρας τῆς σκηνῆς τοῦ μαρτυρίου, καὶ ἐντελοῦμαι αὐτῷ. καὶ ἐπορεύθη Μωυσῆς καὶ Ἰησοῦς εἰς τὴν σκηνὴν τοῦ μαρτυρίου καὶ ἔστησαν παρὰ τὰς θύρας τῆς σκηνῆς τοῦ μαρτυρίου.	14 Καὶ εἶπε Κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν· ἰδοὺ ἐγγίκασιν αἱ ἡμέραι τοῦ θανάτου σου· κάλεσον Ἰησοῦν καὶ στῆτε παρὰ τὰς θύρας τῆς σκηνῆς τοῦ μαρτυρίου, καὶ ἐντελοῦμαι αὐτῷ. καὶ ἐπορεύθης Μωυσῆς καὶ Ἰησοῦς εἰς τὴν σκηνὴν τοῦ μαρτυρίου, καὶ ἔστησαν παρὰ τὰς θύρας τῆς σκηνῆς τοῦ μαρτυρίου.

15 And Yahweh appeared in the tent in a column of a cloud; and the column of the cloud stood over the door of the tent.

16 And Yahweh said to Moses, “Behold, you shall sleep with your fathers; and this people will rise up, and commit prostitution after the gods of the strangers of the land, to which they go to be among them, and will forsake me, and break my covenant which I have made with them.

16 καὶ εἶπεν κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν ἰδοὺ σὺ κοιμᾷ μετὰ τῶν πατέρων σου, καὶ ἀναστὰς ὁ λαὸς οὗτος ἐκπορνεύσει ὀπίσω θεῶν ἀλλοτρίων τῆς γῆς, εἰς ἣν οὗτος εἰσπορεύεται ἐκεῖ εἰς αὐτήν, καὶ ἐγκαταλείψουσίν με καὶ διασκεδάσουσιν τὴν διαθήκην μου, ἣν διεθέμην αὐτοῖς.	16 καὶ εἶπε Κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν· ἰδοὺ σὺ κοιμᾷ μετὰ τῶν πατέρων σου, καὶ ἀναστὰς οὗτος ὁ λαὸς ἐκπορνεύσει ὀπίσω θεῶν ἀλλοτρίων τῆς γῆς, εἰς ἣν οὗτος εἰσπορεύεται, καὶ καταλείψουσί με καὶ διασκεδάσουσι τὴν διαθήκην μου, ἣν διεθέμην αὐτοῖς.
16 And the Lord said to Moses, “Look, you are lying down with your fathers. And this people, having risen up, will prostitute after foreign gods of the land into which it is going there into it, and they will forsake me and break my covenant that I have established with them.	16 And the Lord said to Moses, “Look, you are lying down with your fathers. 17 Then my anger shall be kindled against them in that day, and I will forsake them, and I will hide my face from them, and they shall be devoured, and many evils and troubles shall befall them; so that they will say in that day. ‘Are not these evils come on us, because our God is not among us?’

17 καὶ ὀργισθήσομαι θυμῷ εἰς αὐτοὺς ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ καὶ καταλείψω αὐτοὺς καὶ ἀποστρέψω τὸ πρόσωπόν μου ἀπ’ αὐτῶν, καὶ ἔσται κατάβρωμα, καὶ εὑρήσουσιν αὐτὸν κακὰ πολλὰ καὶ θλίψεις, καὶ ἐρεῖ ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ διότι οὐκ ἔστιν κύριος ὁ θεός μου ἐν ἐμοί, εὕροσάν με τὰ κακὰ ταῦτα.	17 καὶ ὀργισθήσομαι θυμῷ εἰς αὐτοὺς ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ καὶ καταλείψω αὐτοὺς καὶ ἀποστρέψω τὸ πρόσωπόν μου ἀπ’ αὐτῶν, καὶ ἔσται κατάβρωμα, καὶ εὑρήσουσιν αὐτὸν κακὰ πολλὰ καὶ θλίψεις, καὶ ἐρεῖ ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ· διότι οὐκ ἔστι Κύριος ὁ Θεός μου ἐν ἐμοί, εὕροσάν με τὰ κακὰ ταῦτα.
17 And I shall be wrathful with anger against them in that day, and I will abandon them and turn away my face from them, and it will become food, and many evils and afflictions will find it. 18 And I will surely hide my face in that day for all the evils which they shall have wrought, in that they are turned to other gods.

18 ἐγὼ δὲ ἀποστροφῇ ἀποστρέψω τὸ πρόσωπόν μου ἀπ’ αὐτῶν ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ διὰ πάσας τὰς κακίας, ἃς ἐποίησαν, ὅτι ἐπέστρεψαν ἐπὶ θεοὺς ἀλλοτρίους.	18 ἐγὼ δὲ ἀποστροφῇ ἀποστρέψω τὸ πρόσωπόν μου ἀπ’ αὐτῶν ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ διὰ πάσας τὰς κακίας, ἃς ἐποίησαν, ὅτι ἀπέστρεψαν ἐπὶ θεοὺς ἀλλοτρίους.

19 Now therefore write this song for you, and teach it to the sons of Israēl; put it in their mouths, that this song may be a witness for me against the sons of Israēl.

19 καὶ νῦν γράψατε τὰ ῥήματα τῆς ᾠδῆς ταύτης καὶ διδάξετε αὐτὴν τοὺς υἱοὺς Ἰσραὴλ καὶ ἐμβαλεῖτε αὐτὴν εἰς τὸ στόμα αὐτῶν, ἵνα γένηταί μοι ἡ ᾠδὴ αὕτη εἰς μαρτύριον ἐν υἱοῖς Ἰσραήλ.	19 καὶ νῦν γράψατε τὰ ῥήματα τῆς ᾠδῆς ταύτης καὶ διδάξατε αὐτὴν τοὺς υἱοὺς Ἰσραὴλ καὶ ἔμβαλεῖτε αὐτὴν εἰς τὸ στόμα αὐτῶν, ἵνα γένηταί μοι ἡ ᾠδὴ αὕτη κατὰ πρόσωπον μαρτυροῦσα ἐν υἱοῖς Ἰσραήλ.

20 For when I shall have brought them into the land which I swore to their fathers, that flows with milk and honey; and they shall have eaten and filled themselves, and become fat; then they will turn to other gods, and serve them, and provoke me, and break my covenant.

22 Moses therefore wrote this song the same day, and taught it to the sons of Israēl.
