1 And it came to be after this, that Absalom prepared him chariots and horses, and 50 men to run before him.

2 And Absalom rose up early, and stood beside the way of the gate; and it was so, that when any man who had a controversy came to the king for judgment, then Absalom called to him, and said, “Of what city are you?” And he said, “Your servant is of one of the tribes of Israēl.”

4 Absalom said moreover, “Oh that I were made judge in the land, that every man which has any suit or cause might come to me, and I would do him justice!”

5 And it was so, that when any man came near to him to do him obeisance, he put forth his hand, and took him, and kissed him.

6 And on this manner did Absalom to all Israēl that came to the king for judgment; so Absalom stole the hearts of the men of Israēl.

7 And it came to be after 40 years, that Absalom said to the king, “please, let me go and pay my vow, which I have vowed to Yahweh, in Hebron.

10 But Absalom sent spies throughout all the tribes of Israēl, saying, “As soon as you hear the sound of the trumpet, then you shall say, Absalom reigns in Hebron.”

11 And with Absalom went 200 men out of Jerusalem, that were called; and they went in their simplicity, and they didn’t know anything.

12 And Absalom sent for Ahithophel the Gilonite, David’s counseller, from his city, even from Giloh, while he offered sacrifices. And the conspiracy was strong; for the people increased continually with Absalom.

14 And David said to all his servants that were with him at Jerusalem, “Arise, and let’s flee; for we shall not else escape from Absalom: make speed to depart, lest he overtake us suddenly, and bring evil on us, and smite the city with the edge of the sword.”

14 And David said to all his servants who were with him in Jerousalēm, “Get up, and let us flee, for there is no salvation for us from before Abessalōm. 15 And the king’s servants said to the king, “Behold, your servants are ready to do whatever my lord the king shall appoint.”

18 καὶ πάντες οἱ παῖδες αὐτοῦ ἀνὰ χεῖρα αὐτοῦ παρῆγον καὶ πᾶς ὁ Χεττὶ καὶ πᾶς ὁ Φελετθὶ καὶ ἔστησαν ἐπὶ τῆς ἐλαίας ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ· καὶ πᾶς ὁ λαὸς παρεπορεύετο ἐχόμενος αὐτοῦ καὶ πάντες οἱ περὶ αὐτὸν καὶ πάντες οἱ ἁδροὶ καὶ πάντες οἱ μαχηταί, ἑξακόσιοι ἄνδρες, καὶ παρῆσαν ἐπὶ χεῖρα αὐτοῦ· καὶ πᾶς ὁ Χερεθθὶ καὶ πᾶς ὁ Φελεθθὶ καὶ πάντες οἱ Γεθθαῖοι, ἑξακόσιοι ἄνδρες οἱ ἐλθόντες τοῖς ποσίν αὐτῶν ἐκ Γέθ, πορευόμενοι ἐπὶ πρόσωπον τοῦ βασιλέως.

18 καὶ πάντες οἱ παῖδες αὐτοῦ ἀνὰ χεῖρα αὐτοῦ παρῆγον καὶ πᾶς Χελεθὶ καὶ πᾶς ὁ Φελεθὶ καὶ ἔστησαν ἐπὶ τῆς ἐλαίας ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ· καὶ πᾶς ὁ λαὸς παρεπορεύετο ἐχόμενος αὐτοῦ καὶ πάντες οἱ περὶ αὐτὸν καὶ πάντες οἱ ἁδροὶ καὶ πάντες οἱ μαχηταὶ ἑξακόσιοι ἄνδρες, καὶ παρῆσαν ἐπὶ χεῖρα αὐτοῦ· καὶ πᾶς ὁ Χελεθὶ καὶ πᾶς ὁ Φελεθὶ καὶ πάντες οἱ Γεθθαῖοι, οἱ ἑξακόσιοι ἄνδρες οἱ ἐλθόντες τοῖς ποσὶν αὐτῶν ἐκ Γέθ, πορευόμενοι ἐπὶ πρόσωπον τοῦ βασιλέως.

18 And all his servants were passing close to him, and every Chetti and every Feletthi, and they stood by the olive tree in the wilderness. And all the people were passing by near him, and all those about him and all the prominent men and all the warriors, 600 men, and they were passing by at his hand, and every Chereththi and every Feleththi and all the Geththite, 600 men, who came on their feet from Geth, going in front of the king.

18 And all his servants were passing close to him, and every Chelethi and every Felethi, and they stood by the olive tree in the wilderness. And all the people were passing by near him, and all those about him and all the prominent men and all the warriors, 600 men, and they were passing by at his hand, and every Chelethi and every Felethi and all the Geththite, 600 men, who came on their feet from Geth, going in front of the king.

19 Then said the king to Ittai the Gittite, “Why go you also with us? return to your place, and abide with the king; for you are a stranger, and also an exile.

19 And the king said to Eththi the Geththite, “Why are you also going with us? 21 And Ittai answered the king, and said, “As Yahweh lives, and as my lord the king lives, surely in what place my lord the king shall be, whether in death or life, even there also will your servant be.”

29 Zadok therefore and Abiathar carried the ark of God again to Jerusalem; and they tarried there.
