8 And he stood and shouted to the battle array of Israēl and said to them, “Why do you come out to arrange for battle opposite us? Am I not an allophyle, and are you Hebrews of Saoul? Choose a man for yourselves, and let him come down to me, | 8 And he stood and shouted to the battle array of Israēl and said to them, “Why do you come out to arrange for battle opposite us? 10 And the Philistine said, I defy the armies of Israēl this day; give me a man, that we may fight together.
10 And the allophyle said, “Look! today on this very day I have challenged the battle array of Israēl. Give me a man, and we both will fight in single combat.” | 10 And the allophyle said, “Look! today on this very day I have challenged the battle array of Israēl. Give me a man, and we both will fight in single combat.” |
11 When Saul and all Israēl heard those words of the Philistine, they were dismayed, and greatly afraid.

13 N/A | 13 And the three elder sons of Jessai went and followed Saoul to the war, and the names of his sons that went to the war were, Eliab his first-born, and his second Aminadab, and his third son Samma. |

14 N/A | 14 And David himself was the younger son, and the three bigger followed after Saoul. |
15 But David went and returned from Saul to feed his father’s sheep at Bethlehem.
15 N/A | 15 And David. Departed and returned from Saoul, to feed his father’s sheep in Bethleem; |
16 And the Philistine drew near morning and evening, and presented himself 40 days.

16 N/A | 16 And the allophyle advanced morning and evening, and stood up 40 days. |
17 And Jesse said to David his son, Take now for your brothers an ephah of this parched grain, and these ten loaves, and run to the camp to your brothers;
17 N/A | 17 And Jessai said to David, “Please take to your brothers an ephah of this meal, and these ten loaves, and run to the camp and give them to your brothers. |
18 And carry these ten cheeses to the captain of their thousand, and look how your brothers fare, and take their pledge.
18 N/A | 18 And you shall carry to the captain of one thousand these ten cheeses of milk, and you shall see how your brothers fare, and learn what they need.” |
19 Now Saul, and they, and all the men of Israēl, were in the valley of Elah, fighting with the Philistines.
19 N/A | 19 And Saoul himself and all the men of Israēl were in the valley of the Oak, warring with the allophyles. |
20 And David rose up early in the morning, and left the sheep with a keeper, and took, and went, as Jesse had commanded him; and he came to the trench, as the army was going forth to the fight, and shouted for the battle.
20 N/A | 20 And David arose early in the morning, and left the sheep to a keeper, and took and went as Jessai commanded him, and he came to the trench and to the army as it was going out to fight, and they shouted for the battle. |

22 N/A | 22 And David deposited his goods in the hand of a guard, and ran to the battle array, and went and asked his brothers about their welfare. |
23 And as he talked with them, behold, there came up the champion, the Philistine of Gath, Goliath by name, out of the armies of the Philistines, and spoke according to the same words; and David heard them.
23 N/A | 23 And while he was speaking with them, look! the middle advanced, Goliath by name, the Filistine of Geth, of the battle formation of the allophyles, and he spoke according to these things, and David heard. |
24 And all the men of Israēl, when they saw the man, fled from him, and were sore afraid.
24 N/A | 24 And all the men of Israēl when they saw the man, fled from before him, and they were greatly terrified. |
25 And the men of Israēl said, Have you seen this man who is come up? surely to defy Israēl is he come up; and it shall be, that the man who kills him, the king will enrich him with great riches, and will give him his daughter, and make his father’s house free in Israēl.

David Kills Goliath
32 And David said to Saul, Let no man’s heart fail because of him; your servant will go and fight with this Philistine.
32 And David said to Saoul, “Please don't let the heart of my master collapse on him; your slave will go and will fight with this allophyle.” | 32 And David said to Saoul, “Please don't let the heart of my master collapse on him; your slave will go and will fight with this allophyle.” |
33 And Saul said to David, You are not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him; for you are but a youth, and he a man of war from his youth.
33 And Saoul said to David, “You will not be able to go against the allophyle to fight with him, because you are a boy, and he has been a warrior from his youth.” | 33 And Saoul said to David, “You will not be able to go against the allophyle to fight with him, because you are a boy, and he has been a warrior from his youth.” |
34 And David said to Saul, Your servant kept his father’s sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock.

35 And I went out after him, and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth; and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him, and killed him.
35 and I kept going after it, then I struck it and pulled from its mouth, and if it rose up against me, then I seized it by its throat and struck it down and put it to death. | 35 and I kept going after it, then I struck it and pulled from its mouth, and if it rose up against me, then I seized it by its throat and struck it down and put it to death. |
36 Your servant killed both the lion and the bear; and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he has defied the armies of the living God.

37 David said moreover, Yahweh that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said to David, Go, and Yahweh be with you.

48 And it happened, when the Philistine arose, and came and drew near to meet David, that David hurried, and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine.

48 And the allophyle arose and came to meet David, | 48 And the allophyle arose and came to meet David, |
49 And David put his hand in his bag, and took from there a stone, and slang it, and smote the Philistine in his forehead, that the stone sunk into his forehead; and he fell on his face to the earth.
