Resurrection of Christ

Now I make known to you, brothers, the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received, in which also you stand, Now I make known to you, brothers, the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received, in which also you stand,
by which also you are saved, if you hold fast the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain. by which also you are saved, if you hold fast the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain.
For I delivered to you among first things, what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, For I delivered to you among first things, what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,
and that he was buried, and that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he was buried, and that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,
and that he appeared to Cēphas, then to the twelve. and that he appeared to Cēphas, then to the twelve.
Next he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom remain until now, but some have fallen asleep; Next he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom remain until now, but some have fallen asleep;
then he appeared to Jacōb,[1] then to all the apostles; then he appeared to Jacōb,[1] then to all the apostles;
and last of all, just as though to one untimely born, he appeared to me too. and last of all, just as though to one untimely born, he appeared to me too.
For I am the least of the apostles, who am not worthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. For I am the least of the apostles, who am not worthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.
But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me didn’t become vain; but I laboured even more than all of them, yet not I, but the grace of God with me. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me didn’t become vain; but I laboured even more than all of them, yet not I, but the grace of God with me.

Resurrection of the Dead

15:12 Εἰ δὲ Χριστὸς κηρύσσεται ὅτι ἐκ νεκρῶν ἐγήγερται, πῶς λέγουσιν ἐν ὑμῖν τινες ὅτι ἀνάστασις νεκρῶν οὐκ ἔστιν; 12 Εἰ δὲ Χριστὸς κηρύσσεται, ὅτι ἐκ νεκρῶν ἐγήγερται, πῶς λέγουσί τινες ἐν ὑμῖν ὅτι ἀνάστασις νεκρῶν οὐκ ἔστιν;
Now if Christ is preached, that he has been raised from the dead, how do some among you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? Now if Christ is preached, that he has been raised from the dead, how do some among you say that there is no resurrection of the dead?
But if there is no resurrection of the dead, not even Christ has been raised; But if there is no resurrection of the dead, not even Christ has been raised;
and if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is vain, your faith also is vain. and if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is vain, your faith also is vain.
Moreover we are even found to be false witnesses of God, because we testified against God that he raised Christ, whom he didn’t raise, if in fact the dead are not raised. Moreover we are even found to be false witnesses of God, because we testified against God that he raised Christ, whom he didn’t raise, if in fact the dead are not raised.
For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised; For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised;
and if Christ has not been raised, your faith is worthless; you are still in your sins. and if Christ has not been raised, your faith is worthless; you are still in your sins.
Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished.
But now Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of the ones who have fallen asleep. But now Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of the ones who have fallen asleep.
For since by a man came death, by a man also came the resurrection of the dead. For since by a man came death, by a man also came the resurrection of the dead.
But each in his own order: Christ the first fruits, next those who are Christ’s at his coming, But each in his own order: Christ the first fruits, next those who are Christ’s at his coming,
afterward, the end, when he delivers the kingdom to the God and Father, when he has abolished all rule and all authority and power. afterward, the end, when he delivers the kingdom to the God and Father, when he has abolished all rule and all authority and power.
The last enemy that will be abolished is death. The last enemy that will be abolished is death.
For he has subjected all things under his feet.[2] But when he says, “All things are put in subjection,” it is obvious that he is excepted who put all things in subjection to him. For he has subjected all things under his feet.[2] But when he says, “All things are put in subjection,” it is obvious that he is excepted who put all things in subjection to him.
When all things are subjected to him, then the Son himself also will be subjected to the One who subjected all things to him, so that God may be all in all. And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.
15:29 Ἐπεὶ τί ποιήσουσιν οἱ βαπτιζόμενοι ὑπὲρ τῶν νεκρῶν; εἰ ὅλως νεκροὶ οὐκ ἐγείρονται, τί καὶ βαπτίζονται ὑπὲρ αὐτῶν; 29 Ἐπεὶ τί ποιήσουσιν οἱ βαπτιζόμενοι ὑπὲρ τῶν νεκρῶν, εἰ ὅλως νεκροὶ οὐκ ἐγείρονται; τί καὶ βαπτίζονται ὑπὲρ τῶν νεκρῶν;
Otherwise, what will those do who are baptized on behalf of the dead ones? If the dead are not raised at all, why then are they baptized in behalf of them? Otherwise, what will those do who are baptized on behalf of the dead ones? If the dead are not raised at all, why then are they baptized in behalf of the dead?
15:30 Τί καὶ ἡμεῖς κινδυνεύομεν πᾶσαν ὥραν; 30 Τί καὶ ἡμεῖς κινδυνεύομεν πᾶσαν ὥραν;
Why are we also in danger every hour? Why are we also in danger every hour?
I affirm, brothers, by the boasting in you which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I keep dying day by day. I affirm, by the boasting in you which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I keep dying day by day.
If from a human perspective, I fought with wild beasts at Ephesus, what profit is there to me? If the dead are not raised, let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die. If from a human perspective, I fought with wild beasts at Ephesus, what profit is there to me? If the dead are not raised, let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die.
Don’t be deceived: “Bad company corrupts good morals.”[3] Don’t be deceived: “Bad company corrupts good morals.”[3]
Smarten up rightly and stop sinning; for some among you have no knowledge of God. I speak this to your shame. Smarten up rightly and stop sinning; for some among you have no knowledge of God. I speak this to your shame.

The Resurrection Body

15:35 Ἀλλὰ ἐρεῖ τις, πῶς ἐγείρονται οἱ νεκροί; ποίῳ δὲ σώματι ἔρχονται; 35 ἀλλ᾿ ἐρεῖ τις, πῶς ἐγείρονται οἱ νεκροί; ποίῳ δὲ σώματι ἔρχονται;
But someone will say, “How are the dead raised? And with what kind of body do they come?” But someone will say, “How are the dead raised? And with what kind of body do they come?”
Fool! What you sow isn’t made alive unless it dies; Fool! What you sow isn’t made alive unless it dies;
and what you sow, you don’t sow the body which is to be, but a bare kernel, perhaps of wheat or of something else. and what you sow, you don’t sow the body which is to be, but a bare kernel, perhaps of wheat or of something else.
But God gives it a body just as he wanted, and to each of the seeds a body of its own. But God gives it a body just as he wanted, and to each of the seeds a body of its own.
All flesh is not the same flesh, but there is one flesh of men, and another flesh of beasts, and another flesh of birds, and another of fish. All flesh is not the same flesh, but there is one flesh of men, and another flesh of beasts, and another flesh of fish, and another of birds.
There are also celestial bodies and earthly bodies, but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the earthly is another. There are also celestial bodies and earthly bodies, but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the earthly is another.
There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for star differs from star in glory. There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for star differs from star in glory.
So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown a perishable body, it is raised an imperishable body; So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown a perishable body, it is raised an imperishable body;
it is sown in dishonour, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; it is sown in dishonour, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power;
it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body. it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.
So also it is written, “The first man, Adam, became a living soul.”[4] The last Adam became a life-giving spirit. So also it is written, “The first man, Adam, became a living soul.”[4] The last Adam became a life-giving spirit.
However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural; then the spiritual. However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural; then the spiritual.
The first man is from the dust of earth; the second man is from heaven. The first man is from the dust of earth; the second man is the Lord from heaven.
As is the dust, so also are those who are dust; and as is the heavenly, so also are those who are heavenly. As is the dust, so also are those who are dust; and as is the heavenly, so also are those who are heavenly.
Just as we have borne the image of the dust, we will also bear the image of the heavenly. Just as we have borne the image of the dust, we will also bear the image of the heavenly.
Now I say this, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. Now I say this, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable.
Listen! I tell you a mystery; we will not all sleep, but we will all be changed, Listen! I tell you a mystery; we will not all sleep, but we will all be changed,
in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.
But when this perishable will have put on the imperishable, and this mortal will have put on immortality, then will come about the saying that is written, “Death is swallowed up in victory.[5] But when this perishable will have put on the imperishable, and this mortal will have put on immortality, then will come about the saying that is written, “Death is swallowed up in victory.[5]
15:55 ποῦ σου, θάνατε, τὸ νῖκος; ποῦ σου, θάνατε, τὸ κέντρον; 55 ποῦ σου, θάνατε, τὸ κέντρον; ποῦ σου, ᾅδη, τὸ νῖκος;
Oh death, where is your victory?
Oh death, where is your sting?”[6]
Oh death, where is your sting?
Oh grave, where is your victory?”[6]
but thanks be to God, who gives to us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. but thanks be to God, who gives to us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
